  1. update - the EPC fault seems to have gone away after a long drive. Potentially battery, or moisture on a sensor? it had been very wet the run up to the problem occuring.
  2. Xman - thanks again. Will do. The warranty is 3rd party... Was a used sale. I will check through what it covers but i think it is full mechanical and electrical "Don't think rattle in roof is related, might be the exhaust shaking and hitting the bodywork " It sounds very much like the impact it is coming from the top rear corner and along the passenger side. Perhaps this should be a different thread once i've sorted the EPC! MickA - thanks, i'll look through your thread and i'll get the battery checked, this did cross my mind.
  3. Skoffski and Xman, thank you very much for your responses. I am going to take it into the garage again this week and will let you know if i can get the code from them, though the code reader is very reasonable and probably worth having one. If it is a turbo actuator fault does that mean new turbo..? It is under warranty so hopefully that would be covered. MickA - could an dying battery be a cause for a fault? Is the rattle (possibly cable or something) in the roof likely unconnected? Cheers, Josh
  4. Thank you for your speedy response. The garage is local garage with diagnostics reader, not a skoda dealership. The car is 2014. Fully serviced with skoda last 3 years. spark plugs changed at 33000 Cheers, Josh
  5. Hi all. I've got a Skoda Rapid 1.2 TSI (86bhp) 38k. Only had it 2k after my last one got written off by uninsured **** when it was parked... So far running great, good mph etc. Coming back from supermarket I had no power at all and EPC light came on, limp home mode had triggered. I pulled over, turned on and off and the EPC disappeared and it runs like normal. It's still under a warranty so took it straight to my garage who plugged it in and said it threw up a code but it didn't really tell them anything (is it likely a code would tell them nothing?). He reset and said to bring it back if it continues. Few days later, EPC returns, but again disappears on restart. This time however there is rattle in the roof, passenger side from towards the rear, sounds like something it loose somewhere tapping on the underside of the roof top. It could be unrelated but seems odd that this is happening at the same time. With EPC light back on I got my wife to press brake and all check brake lights, which are working fine. Now the EPC isn't coming on. It has been sat a for a week and it's been very wet, but would hope that's not a problem, my 2001 fabia doesn't mind! Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas. Josh
  6. Just bought another one today! Basically the same car but silver and better spec.
  7. just to confirm - the wiper part arrived today. Company seem legit and helpful. There was an error on their website that meant i ordered it twice, but they cancelled and refunded my card straight away. Unfortunately i cannot tell you if the part works as a ****ed, uninsured tosspot smashed into my parked Rapid last weekend, then ran away, total write off. Am hoping to replace like for like so will keep the part if needed in the future. Josh
  8. If this is useful - i have ordered this very reasonably priced second hand pump part. I hope this resolves my issues. Seems a bit too cheap so i will let you know how i get on. https://www.partan.eu/en/catalogue/skoda-5e5955711-rapid-nh3-2013-wiper-motor-rear_9917/
  9. try Clive at winchster skoda. he told me £75 inc VAT +delivery for new washer motor: [email protected]
  10. The washer hose is connected to the motor/jet by a small plastic coupling. Part number 3b0955875a
  11. this is a rapid and the panel is just a small bit that comes off easy, dont have to remove the entire boot cover.
  12. This is how it attaches to the washer motor, it just pulls off. Cheers, josh
  13. Does anyone know a part number/name for this bit that attaches the rear wiper motor and the washer hose? It rotates with the motor action. Mine is leaking and the garage claims i need a whole new motor...
  14. Further to my post - I got the part and a new nozzle but still getting a leak from the back. Its driving me mad now. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a slight block between the inlet of the washer hose and the outlet at the nozzle... Most recent picture. this is using the couplr part sent by skoda, then a bit of tube to connect up the washer pipe. I still can't believe this is the best way to do this?!? How are they out of the factory (can anyone post a picture of theirs?) Cheers, Josh
  15. I've had a reply from Winchester SKoda: The washer hose is connected to the motor/jet by a small plastic coupling. Part number 3b0955875a
  16. Two more photos - this is what i am trying to connect. Does anyone know if the below connector will fit on to the nozzle? https://seat-skoda.caffynsparts.co.uk/parts/seat-parts/washer-piper-repair-kit/ 5J0955871A / 5J0955871B Cheers, Josh
  17. HI all - i've had a search through various topics on this and have tried a fix myself but struggling and hoped for some help... Car: Skoda Rapid 2013 1.2TSI After the big freeze my rear wiper tube detached at the back and didn't fit back on snuggly and leaked. I will say at this point - it is a shocking design that my unborn baby would have done a better job of. Anyway - I took the little plastic bit in to my local parts shop and bought some new tube. Of course the plastic fitting on the outlet pipe is a different width to the inlet for the wiper... I managed to get it over both bits and secure with tight, thin cable ties. (PICTURE ATTACHED). The tube stays on but it leaks out the back of the tubing. I think it is potentially blocked coming out the wiper, I removed the wiper nozzle and cleaned out and it fires through but still with some back leak. I think it might be blocking up between the inlet and the nozzle bit can't work out how to take it apart to clean it. Is anyone able to send a picture of their rear wiper to see if my fix coudl be better? Cheers, Josh
  18. my 2001 fabia is not without its niggles! Driver door lock has gone, aircon doesn't work but i have never looked into it as I'm not really that fused, not sure it was amazing when it did work.,. boot catch intermittent but works after you open a side door, rear wiper has probably corroded and doesn't work well and the garage can't connect to it to get fault codes (which is probably a good thing) but the car is now 17 years old. The drive is still fantastic and economy seems fine (though not a touch on the rapid) It's done 127000 miles, i've had it since 66000, never broken down (i've said it now..) The power steering went which was costly to replace (the whole thing...) and had to do it twice because of a dodgy east London garage did it the first time and that lasted about half a year... I've been saying for years that i will replace it on the next expensive MoT or failure and so far nothing major. Don't do many miles on it now the wife uses it for a run-around so can see it going on and on.
  19. i've had a skoda fabia for a long time and its reliable. I went Rapid for the boot and its cheap to run. I was also looking at Hyundai i30s, which i really like, they come with all the bells and whistles and the post 2012 models are nicely styled. However with first baby on the way I went for the sensible choice! By all means not the most exciting car i hope i will ever buy but the price i paid for the mileage made it a no brainer, pretty low spec though. Thiss particlar one was cheaper than any Toledo's for the mileage. The Fabia is due a replacement at some point so maybe i'll get a little 2 seater sports car or something...
  20. that's a very good point... especially basic things like volume. Worth thinking about for sure.
  21. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Double-Single-Installation-Adaptor-Quadlock/dp/B01N05OEY2/ref=pd_day0_107_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FJT7JZAX5VTWB8NAY60Z might need something like this...
  22. Thanks Naxtek for the recommendation. As an iphone user i'm looking at some of the apple play systems. http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-stereos/pioneer-sph-da120-car-stereo-with-apple-carplay I'm not sure it is compatible though....
  23. Hi Chris - thank you very much for your detailed response. I'm not sure i fancy £65 on a cable that is that temperamental! I might just stick to my USB stick of tunes or a 3.5mm connector... I really don't want to use my phone for anything other than sat nav anyway and unless there is a slick system I think i'll stick to what works (albeit a bit clunky too...) Maybe i'll look into replacing it completely at some point with a decent system.
