Hey guys, I need some insight. I'm having issues with the cruise control on my Octavia 1Z5 (2 FL Combi), so I got a scan at my dealer. The scan showed that the 'Steering wheel electronics' are reporting a permanent fault. As far as I can research, that's the J0527 component. Can this be the cause of the cruise control failing? The cruise control does not activate at all, in any condition. What does the J0527 (currently installed is 1K0953549CP) otherwise control? Airbag? Ignition? I was thinking I'd start with cleaning the rocker as described on here: But would I need to replace the steering wheel component anyways, when it's reporting a perm. fault? Also, the dealer said I need a 1K0953549CD, but that's almost triple price of the CP-version. Does the Highline version give any improvements apart of MFSW support, or can I just go for the midline? Hey, Sorry for not getting back to your, I missed your update. Is sounds strange, that the wouldn't be any error codes - no connection to the door should definitely trigger an error. The next step would be removing the door trim, and take a look at the wires inside the door, and see if any of the wires are broken or blackened, and get a measure on the outputs of the control unit as well as the wires. It's quite a bit of work!

Start by checking the wires between the door and the chassis. When you open the door, there's a rubber-tube containing the wires. Next step would be to remove the door trim, and check the wires there. There's a control unit, which it all connects to, and which then routes it all inside the car. Look for breaks in the wires, or black spots and the like. The easiest would be to get a read on the car with VCDS, which should tell you where to start looking for a fault. Yeah, it's relatively easy. The same procedure as when replacing the third brake light. A plastic tool for removing frames is good to have, but a long screwdriver will also do. IIRC, you'll have to remove the inner plastic by removing the sides first, screwing loose the top, removing that, and then you'll be able to click of the big plastic as well. Then you'll have access to the wiper motor and mechanism.

I've got a Otcy II with an issue on the passenger side door, which does not register when opened, neither in the MaxiDot, lights or anything. The power lock and everything works fine with lock and unlock, it just doesn't register. The dealer said, that "the cental lock sensor is stuck on closed, so the car doesn't now when the door is opened", and that it'll cost £200 to fix, but I'm thinking that it should be possible to replace the sensor or whatever is faulty? I just spend £2000 to replace the timing chain, after a tensioner broke off, so I've paid them enough for now 😣 Have anyone experienced anything similar, or now how to check which part to replace? Thanks!

You'd probably need to remove the whole door trim to be able to replace the speaker. Take a look here: There doesn't seem to be enough room the replace it by simply removing the grid, shown at very beginning of the video. Part no. is 1U0035411E.

I haven't used them myself, but they should work fine. Note though, that it's only for streaming music, no calls, as the unit does not have a microphone. I haven't been able to find one with a mic.

Apparently not I would, but I'm not sure where to start. It's either building the PCB myself, with the right SMD's, a controller for timing and whatever else would be needed, or trying to find something similar and adapting it. Any ideas? I've seen those indicator strips, which do dynamic indicating, maybe it would be possible to fit a short one of those inside the glass for the mirror repeater? Edit: Like this one:

I'm not interested in using rSAP, but rather HFP / A2DP - is 3C8 still to be recommended then? Does the newer BT modules use a newer BT version? Do we know which ones uses what? I don't see why they wouldn't either, but it would be nice to have it confirmed before spending that kinda money. Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Oh right, my bad, I remembered wrong. Yeah, it's the standard ones you have, you can just grab the top of the bulb and pull it out, though it can be a bit tough to get out. You can also pry it softly from the bottom, but do not use anything conducive, as you could blow the internal-lights fuse.

Hi all, Has anybody seen any dynamic / flowing indicators for facelifted Octy 2's? I would imagine a dynamic indicator in the side-mirrors would be obvious, but I can't find any. Modding the indicators in the stock head- and rear-lights to dynamic ones doesn't seem very plausible, but the side-mirror ones should be do-able, no? Also, a shameless plug for another un-answered post of mine:

The bulb should sit there in plain sight. Doesn't the back of the cover look like this for you? Or is it covered by a metal sheet? That would indicate, that you have some aftermarket LED curtesy lights installed.

Hi all, So this is once again, another bluetooth topic, because even though I've read just about every bluetooth-related topic on this forum, I'm still not sure what to get. I have a 2010 Octavia II FL with a Swing radio, (white) Maxidot and no MFSW. I like the Swing radio, it simple, with buttons and no touch-stuff. But I really miss having BT connectivity, so I understand that I need a VW bluetooth module - but which one? What's the difference between the Low, Standard, High and Premium versions? Ross-tech lists the 3C8 as the newest one, with WiFi (what's that for anyway?) and is a Premium module. But what difference is there between that and e.g. 5N0 or 7P6? Does any of them allow me to answer the phone and/or change tracks with the Swing? Or with lever buttons? Are they all compatible with my Swing radio? I would like to be able to take phone calls, stream music, and pairing more that 1 phone (not simultaneously though). And speaking of Swing, does anybody know what the differences between the versions / revisions are? I can find at least 5 different part numbers for Swing 1Z0035161 F, G, N, M and P from years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and after 2013 respectively. The first one seems to be a Blaupunkt, the rest Delphi, but does anybody know the actual differences? Is there any idea in upgrading to a newer revision? Also, my Octy is fitted in an MDI port in the glove box and an AUX in the jumbo box. If I buy an MDI USB cable will I be able to hear mp3 music from an USB stick? Will I be able to see and change tracks with the Swing? And will the AUX port still be operational? And speaking of the MDI, I've seen BT receivers for this too, but why haven't anybody made an MDI BT receiver with a microphone? That would be the easiest and cheapest BT module for VAG cars, I think. Anyway, I hope somebody knows something about some of my questions, and can help me out a bit. Thanks!

How do I get to the lock on a Octy MkII? Passanger door, to be precise. The car doesn't register when the door opens (neither lights or maxidot), even though remote locking and remote power windows work. I wanna check the microswitch in the lock, but after removing the trim, I couldn't see any entrance or hole to get to the lock itself?

Without being able to see the connectors, I would guess it being a RCA cable. Does the connectors look like the white and red ones here?
