  1. Hiya Peeps. I'm new to the forum and wish i had found and joined ages ago for the fount of knowledge that is here. Well i hope to tap into that fount. We have a 2010 Octavia VRS TDI 170ps with the EA189 CR engine and it has been as good as gold for the past 3 years. However last weekend following a cold snap it had a real **** fit! Upon startup it was idling badly - felt like it was running on 3 cylinders, then as soon as any load is put through the engine it would cut out saying "engine fault workshop" and flashing the glow plug light. We ended up joining the AA to get them to come and have a look who said that No1 injector has failed (according to the computer). So it was towed to a local diesel specialist expecting to have an injector replaced, they did further diagnostic and came up (on the computer) with No1 + No4 injector failure. However when the injectors are tested they are fine! The specialist has run out of ideas after proving the car mechanically (inlet air flow, injectors, exhaust) but suggested that there may be a Harness, ECU or software fault. We did get the "software update" following the emissions scandal about a year ago and i don't think the car has been the same since. I don't know whether to take it back to Skoda to have a look - i dread getting the invoice from them, or have a mobile remapping guy come and have a go. Has anyone else had issues following the software update from Skoda / VW? How can i prove it if it is a software issue if it has been induced by their "fix"? Can you recommend any good diagnostic guys around Fareham and Portsmouth?
