  1. Jim69, just had my dealer come back to me to say that they are going to replace both door locks. They consulted a Skoda fault info site and the answer was replace the locks, They claim that they had not had this problem before, but I do wonder if this is another of those faults they keep quiet about. My Karoq is a May 2018 1,5 petrol. Prior to this I haven't had any problems with the car.
  2. Has anybody had problems with their KAROQ'S KESSY? Mine has been playing up recently, locking and unlocking the car on its own. At slow speeds (*under 10mph) it often locks and unlocks the doors repeatedly. Sometimes the key has to be used to lock or unlock the car and if I try to start the engine I get an advisory message that the key cannot be detected. If I then press unlock, I can start the engine. I have twice been locked out of the car, with the key still in it and have now had to make sure I always keep the key in my pocket when I get out of the car for any reason. My local dealer seems to be mystified by what is happening.

    MPG

Thanks I will give this a try.
  4. Explains why I got clobbered for over £250 when I followed the salesman’s advice to not pay off my PCP until exactly 30 days had elapsed. I will be going in to see him next week to ask why he gave me wrong info.

    MPG

I wish I could get the sort of MPG some of you guys are getting. I managed 45 MPG on a 160 mile run, but for normal everyday use I am getting somewhere in the mid 30s. I do use the eco setting and ACC, but perhaps I am a bit more lead footed than some of you. That said, I expected to get poorer MPG than I got with the 2 litre diesel on my old Superb, but the 1.5 TSI DSG on my Edition is a lot more responsive. All in all I just love driving the car and that is what counts for me in the end.
  6. I was told that one pass with my hand behind the driver’s door handle opens one door, but two passes opens all doors. This works most of the time, but if you are a bit slow with the second pass it tends to be ignored. If I just pull the door handle, only one one door is unlocked. Similarly, If a passenger is slightly impatient and tries to open their door too soon it also cancels out the second pass. The two pass method usually also works on the passenger door, providing that the key is located on that side of the car at the time. I can also confuse the system if I accidentally put my fingers behind the door handle when trying to lock the car. I quite like the Kessy system, but it seems to be a bit of a nuisance sometimes. I keep my key in a pouch to block any emissions when not using the car, but have to remember to take it out when unlocking the car and not to put it back before I lock the car. I’ve been caught out several times already and wondered why the lock wasn’t working. I seem to remember I never had these problems when I used the remote access key on my previous car.
  7. I paid my PCP off on Monday, exactly 30 days after getting the car and it cost me just over £250 in interest charges. I should have done it within 14 days, but the salesman was adamant that it should not be paid off before 30 days had elapsed. I have a strong suspicion that some commission might have played a part in his advice. Still, to get a £1500 discount, two free services and 3 year’s free breakdown cover, it was still a bargain.
  8. The luggage cover in the Edition is very good and I has assumed, perhaps wrongly that it was fitted to all karoqs. When rolled out, it can be clipped to the boot door and then it rises up out of the way whenever the door is opened., giving clear access to the boot. I had a roll up cover on my old Superb, made of a sort of rubber/plastic covered cloth, which had to be rolled back into the holder to give access to the boot . The cover on the Karoq is much better, although unlike a stiff parcel shelf nothing can be carried on it. It's made of a fine mesh material and when it is rolled up the holder can be stored behind the front seats
  9. Has anybody used the paddles to change gear on the Edition 1.5TSI DSG? You can use then to change down if the auto function is trying to keep you in a higher gear, or vice versa. I have only played about a little with the paddles so far, but they are quite positive and give you an extra option to the drive and sport modes on the DSG box. I never really got to grips with the manual over-ride on the older DSG box, but the paddles are a lot easier.
  10. I sold my car to Evans Halshaw and got £1600 more than the dealer was offering for trade in. There are a number of companies buying in second hand cars for cash and I found it to be pretty hassle free to do. Once you know when the new car is due to arrive, it is worth getting a few quotes on line. You may get a much better deal that way.
  11. Had mine for Three weeks and it is a great car. However, that still doesn’t excuse the awful mess that Skoda have made in building and delivering cars to their customers. Do they have a system or do they toss a coin to decide which cars to build next. Similarly, the delivery system seems totally haphazard.
  12. Should be an easy fix for them. Just needs a rubber seal that is substantial enough to meet the doors. I can see where dirt is tracking across the seals in my car. Definitely not up to the job, don't they test these seals???
  13. I have seen this issue mentioned on other forum topics, but I reckon it is worth raising in its own right. I am getting regular buildups of dirt inside the edge of the rear doors when driving in wet weather. This is being thrown up by the tyres and I'm having to clean inside the doors every few days. I raised this problem with my dealer this morning and he had a look at the doors. There is a rubber strip mounted just inside on the wheel arch, which should stop this happening, but on my car the contact between the door and the rubber strip is not satisfactory. In fact, the dealer could see daylight between the door and the strip, which should not happen. He then checked a newly delivered Karoq and found exactly the same problem. He has promised to raise this at a technical meeting he is attending next week. Has anybody else experienced the same problem? If it is common it points to a design fault, which needs rectifying, but It may be that only some cars are getting this problem. The seal definitely looks too low on my car.
  14. Petroldsg, yes Mercedes’s certainly used to do this and I toyed with the idea of collecting a car this way, but it turned out to be too much hassle in the end. Nice idea, but devil is always in the detail
