  1. Depends on your needs (towing, heavier loads regularly, mileage, economy, power delivery preferences, refinement preferences etc etc? ) We went for the tsi 4x4 DSG as the lease deal happened to be quite a bit cheaper than the TDI and it will be sub 10k per year for us. VAG 1.4 tsi a really good little motor.
  2. Thanks for confirming on the leather sides and backs makes it even better! Cheers.
  3. I love the look of the beige interior but head says for me (two kids under 5) it had to be black. I'd probably go for it if I was going for the Edition as its leather. I have cream leather in my other car and it makes such a difference to the interior. Does any one know if the Alcantara has leather edges to the seats its hard to tell from the photos on the configuration on the Skoda site?
  4. Contacted them today this is a good deal. Personal works out £2400 initial then 23 x £228 or they will do £1200 initial then 23 x £288. £180 fee applies. It a lot of car for the money. Almost tempted by this over the Kodiaq!
  5. Hi Manny those quotes are a little heavy on the initial payment. There are some good quotes in the other thread posted on leasing deals. There are plenty of sub £300 Kodiaq deals around with three months initial. The cheapest above is equivalent of over £340 per month on a three month initial basis.
  6. Best I have found so far for our needs: 1.4 TSI 4x4 DSG SEL 7SEAT. Metallic Paint. 10K 3 + 47 £315 Inc VAT.
  7. Also interested in a lease deal please Colin. Was going to take advantage of the fleetprices offer (they had a 2.0se 4x4 DSG for 266pm with 3 months first payment over 48 months.) Nearly died when saw their new prices today! I got some better quotes today from Arbury Skoda but not as good as the Fleetprices ones. Looking for DSG 4x4 SE or SEL please either petrol or diesel and over 48 months if poss.
  8. Good to finally see the results of all my hard work. Would have been nice to see how the power was held after 4200rpm as it does pull well past that point. I suppose the dip at around 3750rpm is wheels slipping on the rollers? Glad you like the car Adrian
  9. Not tarty but in pretty good order for a 70k mileage! Every few months I give mine a good spray of Autoglym machine cleaner, leave it a while and then hose off.
  10. Mine gives 42mpg average with the VT5 and thats been the same over 10,000 miles since it was fitted. Mixed motorway and commuting. This is about 5-6mpg less than before the conversion. Theres no way my fuel economy is going to go up with a big turbo with overall mixed driving on a like for like comparison with the standard turbo, as I am burning more fuel. Its not really worth bragging about how much money you are saving on fuel when you have thrown thousands and thousands of pounds modifying the thing.
  11. Didn't realise you had one of these Rob. Just ordered one of these engines albeit in a SEAT Leon FR.. Hoping for a bit more than 42mpg as I'm getting that in my current Fabia and thats nudging 230ish. Yes so what you getting instead??
  12. The only turbos that can really get to the 300bhp figures would be a large turbo from Allards such as a VT7 (the lag and low down response is not going to be good though) with modified high flow injectors. If the new twin turbo set up on Devonmikeyboys A3 will push 300bhp+ then if the same setup was adapted to a 1.9 it should be possible with enough fuel. Anything VNT17 based or even VNT20 based isn't going to give enough, so that really rules out anything else other than the Allards turbos. If the dervdoctor turbo is VNT20 based - its too small for 300bhp. The VT5 is quite a bit bigger than a VNT20 and thats only good for 270ish. Nobody has done it yet because most people have better things to spend thousands and thousands of pounds on, than trying to push a 1.9tdi past 300bhp. Doesnt stop people from trying though.
  13. 300bhp can be done on this engine with just derv if you have the cash. You just need a turbo big enough (or a couple of them) and enough fueling. Not really worth chasing it though IMO as when you get there you will only want more and then where do you aim... I've already spent far too much cash on mine and its well short of 300bhp lol.. Economy starts to drop off when you get big power on the 1.9, so you have to ask what are the benefits of having a diesel over petrol when a 300bhp petrol is much easier and cheaper to achieve from a similar size engine. Better to start with something like a 3.0tdi if you want a big power diesel.
  14. All I can say is that thank god you nicked my JBS clutch. lol... Wasn't it supposed to be rated to 400lbsft or something? :thumbdwn:
  15. Its better to use the grease than the spray: I actually totally filled the female part of the MAF connector with the stuff then you slowly push on the male part of the connector. You will see the spare grease being forced out the top of the connector. This way you force out any air in the two parts and more importantly there is no movement between the two parts, allowing good consistent connection - aided by the silicone grease. A small improvement in responsiveness is noticed but don't expect a lot.
  16. Ouch is the word. Nice looking car - you can just make out the FMIC in the "before" photos.. My VT5 has parted company with its turbo outlet pipe at the moment. Need stronger clamps :(
  17. Not sure about about this weekend but would be up for a Skoda/SEAT get together. Theres not much to see really, my car looks almost standard from the outside. :(
  18. Is this still going ahead? Usual Meriden meet sounds best maybe now if Des brings his performance meter thing as well. Maybe my last Skoda meet. :(
  19. You also get engine shut down shudder as the anti shudder valve is also removed when fitting this. You get used to it.
  20. If you buy an ex AT&T one from the states, make sure you don't update to iTunes 1.1 as it will not only relock the phone but blocks it. Believe me I know.
  21. I would personally rather spend £25 on a nice pub lunch and a pint, have a chat etc. Not fussed though.
