  1. This week I'll be replacing my Columbus stereo with an Alpine unit and as such will be removing the glove box multimedia/avn unit. Does anyone know the part number for the blanking plate you can get to cover the hole where the multimedia/avn unit was at all?
  2. Thankfully, it would seem that the headlight washer jets are now working again. No idea what caused them to stop working in the first place though.
  3. Washer fluid level is fine, and the low fluid light isn't on.
  4. Don't know in all honesty as I haven't got round to changing the pads myself yet.
  5. I;ve got Micheling Pilot Sport 4's on my VRS...not sure if they do them in 16" size though.
  6. I was quoted £395 +VAT for front brake discs and pads, and £95 +VAT for rear pads only by VRS Northampton for my 2013 VRS. Ended up buying front discs and pads, rear pads and oil filter from EuroCarParts (with a 50% off voucher code) for £165 inc VAT, so will just carry the work out myself. I'm guessing the only specific tool that might be needed will be one to help push/screw the caliper piston's back into the calipers prior to fitting the new pads.
  7. Trying to find decent diagrams seem's to be a bit of a problem unfortunately. Not sure how accessible the pipe work is for the headlight washers to start trying to diagnose the problem. If it's a known problem, so to speak, it may be easier and quicker to take it into my local Skoda stealership.
  8. I believe the default is 10 washes, which again I've tried with the headlights switched on as opposed to set to auto.
  9. I always have my lights set to auto, but have tried with the headlights turned on and they still don't seem to want to work :(
  10. So it would seem that the headlight washer jets on my 2013 Octavia Mk3 VRS have stopped working :( I believe that fuse "42" is the fuse for the headlight washers and the rear central locking, but the central locking is working fine. So that eliminates it being the fuse. I believe the relay for the headlight washers is tied in with the fuel pump and a load of other things, so as the car is running fine that rules that out (unless it's a different relay of course, if someone could confirm that would be awesome). If it's not the fuse or the relay, does anyone have any suggestions at all?
  11. Techle, are you still offering this service and if so, do you retrofit cruise control to the Mk3 Octavia?
  12. Is there anyway to get this working on the older Columbus headunits, I have an older 2013 Octavia VRS.
  13. The pipes run down the a-pillar, and come out under the front washer arm scuttle panels. These can be a pain to get off, so be careful. You can get the passenger side one off enough to check the filter on the end of the pipe without remover the wiper arm, but you will have to remove the wiper arm to check the drivers side.
  14. I've had the same problem myself Wednesday this week. Passenger side front and rear footwell's full of water. Couldn't work out where the water had got in from, but the passenger side front sunroof drain pipe was blocked at the filter end in the engine bay. Gave the end of the pipe a squeeze, felt something solid come out and water was running freely again, I did check behind the passenger side front wheel arch trim and that wasn't to full of crap, but I believe that this area can get blocked and cause footwell flooding. So this might be worth checking. I've also read on here that theres a air con pipe that runs in the front passenger footwell and that this can also cause leaks as well. I'm just waiting to see if clearing the blocked sunroof drain solves my problem or not.
  15. Since picking up my 2013 Octavia VRS estate 6 months or so ago, I've always used Tesco Momentum in it with the occassional tank of Shell VPower as it's supposed to have superior cleaning agents/additives in it. In my previous car, Mk4 Mondeo Titanium-X Estate 2.5T, I always used Tesco Momentum in that as well. But the odd time it wasn't available and I had to use normal unleaded there was a noticable difference in performance.
  16. I've watched a Youtube video of someone updating the firmware on their Amundsen-Bolero, and they said that they had to do the following after the update process had finished; "Version back documentation" screen appears (final step), this is the moment to connect your VCDS cable 12) Go to module 5F, Adaptations, and select channel "Confirmation of installation change" 13) Check your current "Stored value" and write it down 14) Start Windows Calculator and set it to "Programming" mode (Alt+3) 15) Calculate the following: abcd Xor C9D2 (abcd is your "Stored value", C9D2 is fix). Double check it. :) 16) Enter your new value (in "xx xx" format, using a space character) and click "Do It!" (you may get an "Unknown (0x00)" error, no problem) 17) Your headunit should restart automatically in a few secs. 18) Once your HU works again, turn ignition OFF. 19) Ignition ON again and start VCDS again 20) Start an Autoscan and check for fault codes on different modules (09, 17, 19, 5F, ...) and clear them 21) You are done Is the above the same case with the Columbis mib1 does anyone know? Also, how long does the firmware update take (roughly speaking)?
  17. Which database do you need to see buddy, and what parts/files?
  18. Will this work on the Columbus mib1? I assume if it does I would need to change the line from " poifix.py e:\PersonalPOI\MIB2\MIB2high " to "poifix.py e:\PersonalPOI\MIB1\MIB1high"?
  19. I put a deposit on the Octavia vRS Estate today, hopefully picking it up next weekend once they have serviced (40k DSG service already carried out), mot'd, buffed/ polished a couple of marks out and refurbished all four wheels (not that they were particularly bad, but both passenger side wheels had some curbing damage and the lacquer looks like it was started to peel on both drivers side wheels). Spec as follows; 2013 Octavia vRS DSG Estate in Bright Silver Metallic 42k miles Black style pack Panoramic sunroof Front assist collision detection Bi xenon headlamps with automatic lighting Full leather seats with silver coloured inserts Heated front seats Heated front screen and mirrors (I'm assuming it has heated washer jets as well) Columbis mib1
  20. Yeah, the next week is going to go so slow! Just need to find someone local with VCDS who will work the magic for me now. Plus I need to find out if its easy'ish to remove the vRS badge off of the front grill, the back badges are simple to remove. Also weighing up the Revo Stage 1 Map option, was looking at their DSG map as well but after reading people's comments on here it sounds like you better off not bothering with it.
  21. Hi buddy Sorry should have said, the DSG service has been done already
  22. Skoda Northampton have quoted £360 to retrofit cruise control. On a more positive note, I put a deposit on the Octavia vRS Estate today, hopefully picking it up next weekend once they have serviced, mot'd, buffed/ polished a couple of marks out and refurbished all four wheels. Spec as follows; 2013 Octavia vRS DSG Estate in Bright Silver Metallic 42k miles Black style pack Panoramic sunroof Full leather seats with silver coloured inserts Heated front seats Heated front screen and mirrors (I'm assuming it has heated washer jets as well) Columbis mib1 Can't think what else it has off the top of my head, but I think that's the main ones.
  23. Have been quoted £290 to have cruise control retro fitted, which I didn't think was to bad.
  24. Cheers buddy, really appreciate you taking a look for me A bit gutted that it doesn't have cruise control though
