I suppose I should be asking if the standard 1.4tsi is worth spending money on to upgrade? Is it a good base, or should I trade in the car and move up to the vRS then think about upgrades?
-
Well lets go to the performance and handle upgrade section 😀 Also as the car was registered in 2014 I am guessing there would be no manufacturer warranty issues? I have no other warranties.

Hi all, I do not want this to sound like something out of `Gran Turismo 4` but I am wondering what are the best basic upgrades for my current car. I have a Skoda Octaiva Elegance 1.4 Tsi

Do you think it is safe to drive to garage (10 mins drive) or should I call RAC to get it there ?
-
I have 14 plate Skoda Octavia 1.4 tsi. Last week I had a MOT & service on it, on the advisory it mention about all 4 coil packs boots split. Over the last few days the car was intermittently juddering under power. Today, after filling with petrol it started juddering a lot and then engine management light flashed on and off for about 30 secs, then went out completely, now the EPC light has come on and the warning system is saying Stop Start fault. Obviously I will have to take back to the garage tomorrow (10 mins drive away), but I want to know what other owners and experts think .. Would split coil packs boot suddenly cause the EPC light to come on ?

So you are saying, do not drive hard if oil temp is < 50C or > 100 C ? Would it not be better to have a system that says something like under temp, normal, over temp ? When you view the water temperature gauge you can easily see if it too hot without having to know the exact temp.

What is the point of the oil temperature gauge? I realise it does not show anything under 50C.

Update after 3years

For the last year or so, I have always wondered what will happen to VW cars. The Skoda has become the same as VW car but at a cheaper price. So the choice really is an Audi or a Skoda, what is the point of a VW ? -
Strange Advisory notice item on MOT
AtomCom replied to AtomCom's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Sounds like a change to the MOT rules needs to be made then. A MOT test is there to check the road worthiness of a vehicle, so just to say I could not check something so I ignored it makes the whole test a bit worthless. Should it not be the case that a car should not be allowed to be passed until it is all checked? If I wanted to than I could put covers around my brakes, exhaust, maybe even my suspension? -
On my recent MOT I had the following advisory 'undertrays fitted obscuring some components' This must be a common issue with all Octavias then.

Fallen out of love with my VRS.

I agree. It is really a problem of our own making. We want more power, speed, gadgets and all at an affordable price, so something has to give. Build quality is normally the thing that has to give. -
Do you have the codes for non VRs mats ?
-
Best place to order these rubber mats from ? Superskoda ?
-
I suppose it depends on if you want matching mats. I myself can see no issue in having a driver's mat completely different from the other 3. At the end of the day a driver mat has a different use pattern anyways
