  1. I can't believe that after all this time the problem hasn't been fixed to every owners satisfaction, the bulls**t coming out of Skoda is mind boggling, either fix the cars to the owners satisfaction or take the cars back and refund the owners end of. Does anybody know if the latest versions of the 1.5TSI Evo engine in all VAG Group cars are trouble free or are VAG perpetuating the "characteristic nonsense"
  2. After getting messed about last year when they withdrew the 1.5 TSI Edition I looked for something else, due to the fact that I lease my cars I tend to look for the best deals and came up with a Volvo XC60 T5 Momentum AWD, the Volvo actually worked out cheaper to lease than the Karoq. I have had the car for 3 months and didn't expect to get brilliant fuel consumption but I have to say that it's averaging 30mpg which for a big auto AWD drive car is reasonable, the gearbox can seem a bit slow but it's certainly not dangerous and if you put it into sport mode it reacts a bit quicker. I would have to say that it's probably the most comfortable and well equipped car that I have ever owned over the 50+ years motoring that I have experienced.
  3. Interesting, I also had a GAP policy with totalossgap.co.uk which I took out on my leased VW Tiguan, I had the same email from Tobell but their records don't seem to be very accurate, my policy was for two years from Jan2017, the Tiguan went back to VWFS in early January 2019 so technically my GAP policy had expired, I have emailed Tobell as the new cover arranged by FSCS is not needed.
  4. They must have really sodded about with the software etc to get them through the latest emissions tests but seem to have shot themselves in the foot, I think anybody with problems should be looking at rejecting their cars and getting a refund and not buying anything from the VAG group. They (VAG) don’t seem to have a clue so I think it’s time to hit them where it hurts and walk away and if necessary get a class action claim started, I admire everyone’s patience but I think that enough is enough
  5. At the end of July last year I had my order for a Karoq 1.5 DSG Edition cancelled by Skoda, at the time I was really pi**ed off, yes I could have gone for the SEL but it would have cost a lot more to spec the SEL up to Edition levels. As I lease my cars I looked for alternatives within the monthly lease costs that I had been quoted for the Karoq, Volvo dealers were doing really good deals within my original budget so I ended up going for an XC60 T5 Momentum spec, having had the car for 5 weeks I can honestly say that I love the car, I understand all your frustrations and feel for all you Karoq owners that are having these problems. I know that if I had ended up with a Karoq with all these problems it would have driven me mad with frustration knowing that Skoda seem to just hope that their customers get on with it and only those people who push hard enough either get a hire car or are able to reject the car. Good luck and keep pushing Skoda for a resolution.
  6. The problem seems to be that the majority of complaints relate to 1.5 TSI manual cars and as such owners come on to this forum to complain quite rightly that the new cars that they have been sold are not fit for purpose and Skoda/VAG group should be trying to do all they can to placate any customers suffering issues and not say its a characteristic of this engine, no it is not its a design fault and should be subject to a recall. I have the previous generation 1.4TSI ACT engine in my Tiguan and its superb, like many posters on here I believe that Skoda/VAG are worried that by admitting that there is a problem it will be another diesel gate so they are doing all they can in damage limitation, I know we have forum members all over the UK and some parts of the EU but I think that any members that can reasonably get to Milton Keynes where Skoda UK has its office and bombard their Management with complaints in person maybe in the way of a group meet should think of doing this. Its all very well taking to Twitter, Facebook and any other popular media platform but a show of strength by all disgruntled customers would certainly gain some traction. It would be even better if the local MK press were to be pre-warned, the motoring press would be a waste of time as most of them are well looked after by the Motor Companies so don't have an axe to grind. Just my thoughts as I tried to buy an Edition back in August but was cancelled then WLTP and after being messed about I looked around and I now take delivery of a Volvo XC60 T5 next week.
  7. In both the 1.4 ACT engined cars I have owned when they go into 2 cylinder mode you don’t notice any difference it’s only when you see the “ECO” symbol on the dash that you realise that the engine is running on 2 cylinders, IMHO it’s the best engine that I have ever had in a car.
  8. I wanted to lease a 1.5 dsg Edition so attempted to place an order at the end of July, Skoda pulled this model and I was told that the 1.5 dsg Sel was still available, unfortunately to spec this up to Edition level would have increased the price to a unreasonable level. Then WTLP kicked in and things went t*ts up even more, I then decided to look for an alternative and found a great leasing deal on a Volvo XC60 which actually worked out slightly cheaper to lease than the Karoq Edition so ordered the XC60 which is being delivered 11th January, having followed this thread from day 1 I am glad that I didn’t go for the Karoq.
  9. Doesn't sound correct, I have had the 1.4 TSI ACT engine in my last 2 cars, LeonFR and current Tiguan,I don't notice in both cars the change to 2 cylinder mode so if your car feels like it's misfiring I would think it's a problem. One thing that may make a difference is that I only use Tesco Momentum 99 octane fuel and the engine at standstill is so quiet you can't hear it when sitting in the car. In my opinion the 1.4 ACT engine in 150PS variant is the best engine that I have ever had in a car in over 50 years of car ownership.
  10. Hi Rich, As I mentioned in my original post I tend to lease my cars as I found that the amount I was losing in depreciation over 2 years was more expensive than leasing, however, leasing is not for everyone as once you start adding options they tend to bump up the monthly lease cost as normally the options costs have to be spread over the period of the lease. If you want some idea of what I got lease wise PM me and I will give you the details.
  11. Apologies I have been out for the day and have just seen all your posts, the XC60 is a lovely car and a pleasure to drive with a really smooth 8 speed conventional auto box but probably not as economical as the DSG box that the VAG group uses, having said that I have seen a lot of complaints on other VAG forums about noisy DSG gearboxes! I will pm you later with details of what I found, I ended up going with a local dealer who got within a fiver of the online dealer so went with them, delivery should be in January which is when my current lease Tiguan goes back so looking forward to driving an auto.
  12. Looks like the VAG Group are lagging behind on their WTLP certifications, I Googled manufacturers with WTLP certification and it makes some interesting reading, Peugeot and Vauxhall are stating all vehicles are available for sale and all meet WTLP whilst most if not all others have problems, VAG are not doing themselves any favours when it comes to customer satisfaction!!
  13. Unfortunately there are virtually no petrol engined 3008 or 5008 available, I was originally looking at a 3008 to lease but currently only diesel and then only the lower powered ones are showing. Like some else mentioned earlier Volvo are doing some good deals, I managed to pick up a XC60 T5 Momentum AWD for a cheaper lease cost than I was quoted for a Karoq 1.5TSI Edition DSG when I had my order cancelled back in July.
  14. This is what I was told in late July: The 1.5 TSI Edition model will not be produced due to the weight of the vehicle with it having a sunroof. The car will be produced in diesel derivative or SE L model. This came from the Business Development Manager at a large Skoda dealership!!
  15. I have gone for a Volvo XC60 T5 Momentum, nearly £40K RRP but cheaper to lease than the Karoq Edition 1.5TSI DSG that I originally wanted.
  16. Looks like you got in just in time, 3008 very limited at the moment and no high spec GT Line or GT Line Premium with the larger petrol engine plus auto box available according to the configurator.
  17. Whatcar leasing is the best option as it's all main dealers and no brokers fees, there are a number of dealers doing deals at the moment, I got a quote, had a test drive at a local dealership and asked them if they could match the deal and they got within a fiver per month. Basically if you want a new car every 2 years or so and don't do high mileage leasing works out quite well as VED is included for the duration of the lease, the Momentum is the lowest spec but comes with leather, front and rear sensors, sat nav plus other safety features. At the moment Metallic paint is free and the only options I have gone for are a rear camera and spare wheel, engine is 2.0 litre petrol turbo with 250 BHP with AWD and 8 speed auto so very relaxing to drive. On the subject of WTLP Volvo seem to have it sorted as the MY19 Brochure and Pricelist seem to be up todate and as it's a lease car the lease company covers the VED but of course it's built into the lease
  18. Probably more than £33K as to spec up a SEL 1.5 DSG with most of the extras that the edition had worked out to around £32K versus the Edition price of around at £29K and if I understand it correctly the 1.5 DSG Edition (possibly) would be 4x4 which would increase the price quite a bit. My 1.5 Edition DSG order was cancelled and due to lack of information on MY19 specs and models I have today signed up a lease deal on a Volvo XC60 T5 Momentum AWD Auto which is being built to order for delivery in January, leasing cost for this is cheaper than the original Edition quote and bearing in mind the Volvo has a retail price just under £40K it's a no brainer for me.
  19. I posted the info re the dealer meeting on the 24th July but sadly the dealer that I was dealing with wasn't able to update me with what was becoming available so with the lack of information I decided to pull the plug and not go for a Karoq, initially I was looking at a Peugeot 3008 but they are not able to give me any information re MY19 until the end of this month, in the meantime I spotted a potential deal on the Volvo XC60 T5 Momentum AWD which is actually working out cheaper than the original lease quote for a 1.5TSI DSG Edition that I got. As I tend to lease my car's you can't fixate on a specific make/model but go for the best deal that suits you financially with the potential that you could end up with a premium car albeit in a lower spec rather than a mainstream model in a high spec. As much as I really wanted a Karoq the model that I wanted was pulled but with a bit of investigation there are other cars out there which I would never have considered on a purely price basis, the XC60 Momentum which is their lowest spec retails at over £39K for the T5 petrol AWD but has most of the goodies that I need so subject to a test drive and a reasonable insurance quote I will probably go for it.
  20. My order for a 1.5 TSI Edition DSG wasn't processed and with all the uncertainty I decided to test drive a 3008 GT Premium Line with the auto box, very impressed so I am waiting for some updates on what is going to be available in the Karoq range which is equivalent to the Edition, if it's going to be in 4x4 with this combination of engine and gearbox I can see it going above my lease budget by about £65 per month so may opt for the 3008 for a January 2019 delivery. All manufacturers are having problems with WTLP and most of them are bringing out revised engines and specs but there is not a whole lot of concrete information available so I am biding my time.
  21. Exactly the same as I was told, I wanted to order the Edition 1.5TSI DSG for delivery in January 2019 when my Tiguan lease car is due back, if the Edition DSG is only going to be available in 4x4 I can see the lease cost shooting up in which case I may pass and go back to my second choice of a Peugeot 3008 GT Line Premium Auto which at the moment is the same sort of price as the original price I was quoted for the Edition in FWD.
  22. From what I understand anything ordered now will be MY19 so if you want the 1.5TSI Edition (if it's still available) then AFAIK this will be 4x4 and DSG although I was told a few weeks back that the Edition model was being discontinued, information from Skoda UK is not very clear, see the thread on MY19 and you will understand what I mean.
  23. Well, test drive was completed today and I have to say that I was very impressed, the Peugeot 3008 in GT Premium spec is extremely good value and is a regular production model, from my perspective as much as I wanted a Karoq Skoda's decision to stop the Edition has seriously affected my buying decision. I won't be making a decision until the end of this month when hopefully the dust settles and I can see what's on offer for MY19 and then compare the 3008 and Karoq, I tend to lease my car's as it's cost effective for me rather than going outright purchase or PCP so I normally change car's every 2 years. I have been following this thread for weeks and will continue to do so to gauge how other peoples buying experience is panning out, good luck to everybody who has ordered a Karoq and I hope the delivery situation improves.
  24. This really takes the biscuit!! what the hell is happening with the VAG Group, previous experience with Seat and VW were excellent but my plan to buy a 1.5TSI Edition DSG seems to have hit the skids, nobody seems to know what is going on, deliveries are all over the place and they don't seem to be handling the WTLP process very well. The latest price list dated 3/7/18 is still showing all the models including the Edition 1.5TSI but AFAIK this has be discontinued I like many people are very disappointed with the way that Skoda UK are handling the whole debacle, so much so that I have arranged a test drive in a Peugeot 3008 with the equivalent spec of the Karoq Edition which is in the same ball park on leasing costs. Current lead-times are approx 2 months but Peugeot are updating their petrol engines and auto boxes from October build to Euro 6.2 so if I do opt for the Peugeot this is what I will get. As much as I wanted to get a Karoq Skoda UK have really p@@sed me off and probably won't be getting my business.
  25. I have just done a quick check on the configurator and agree that the base cars seem to have gone by about 1.8% but metallic paint has increased from £575 to £595 so about 3.5% but as Offski says you can't trust anything that Skoda is putting out at the moment LOL
