Hi guys, just joined the forum and it was due to a haldex failure in my yeti. Long story ( 3 months worth ) but the short version is after two mechanics and a vag tech guy all had a go at finding the fault and all left me with the impression that no one in these parts (Ireland) has any idea about the haldex. I logged on here many a time and got some good info, I ended up working through the system step by step, control unit was tested and was good, then the pump ,it worked but i was told it sounded funny so I got a new one, but still no drive to the rear. I was then told it was an internal problem and I would have to replace the back end, after that horrific news I experimented a little myself . I took all 4 wheels off the ground , disconnected the pump wire and connected it to a 12v supply and it brought the rear end to life , but only when the wheels were up.... not enough oil pressure as it turned out , there is a PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE in the haldex 5, which i proceeded to remove to find it was not exactly tight. examined it to see it was free and seating properly. Popped it back in and gave it a squeeze , not too much as it brass and did not want to damage the threads. Haldex worked perfect . Oil leak between the O ring and housing was the problem ,and discovered by chance.. hope this helps someone in the future..
