  1. You'll get used to it after a few tries. You just need to practice it somewhere with not so much traffic. -turn the signal on what side you want to search for parking spaces, and right after hit the park pilot button -now it's a mix between watching the road, driving really slowly and with one eye watch the maxi dot display to see when it actually found a spot -you should watch a few youtube videos until you get what I mean, but generally it shows a picture of the car going by a row of cars, and when a spot appears between those cars that means the system found a good spot to park in -now you should really slow down, because you need to get past the spot a bit before the system will actually try to park. I found that compared to my own parking, the system tends to go a few meters further from the spot...as in it needs a bigger area to maneuver. That's why I found it a bit impractical when there's traffic around you. -anyway, at one point you'll get an audio queue, and the display tells you to put it in reverse. One you put it in reverse you should keep your hands off the steering wheel and just control the brake. (I have autohold turned off, so for slow speed maneuvers I just control it by easing off the breaks) -if it's a clear spot without weird obstacles such as shopping trolleys or bins or boxes, you should really have nothing to worry about hitting anything. You'll hear the usual beeps when you're getting close to other cars and you just have to slowly back into the spot following the instructions -if you watch the maxi dot display closely, there's a vertical "progress bar" of some kind. That one tells you how much longer you have to go in reverse, then you'll get an audio queue again, it will tell you to go in drive, and once again the progress bar tells you how much you have until you have to stop. -how much going back and forth depends on how tight the spot is, or basically how satisfied you are with the parking. It can ask you to go a couple of times in reverse and in drive for some really small corrections, and sometimes I just turn the car off because it was parked ok after the first 3 maneuvers. It's actually usable when you already have a parking spot in mind, as in you saw it already and you want the system to take care of the rest. Because otherwise really "searching" it via the system is very slow and weird. So I go on a street, I manage to see a spot a few cars in front of me, turn the signal, hit park pilot, go slow and if the system manages to recognize the parking spot it's great. If not, I'll park it by myself. What it REALLY helps with is perpendicular spots from shopping centers. I appreciate that the car will park itself just right so you can open the doors on both sides. If I do it by myself I'll always mess it up on one side and park the car too close to the one next to it. But again, the system needs a bit more room than I would usually, and it takes a bit more time as well.
  2. Yes, I have the auto light assist. And thanks, I got it. Will test it out later.
  3. Hello, I have the intelligent light assisstant, so the car turns on by itself the low beams as soon as it gets dark. But will it also turn on the high beams? Provided there are no streetlights and other cars coming. I drove it the other night on a twisty road, complete darkness with no other cars around and the car kept on the low beams only. Is there another setting that i need to turn on? The light assisstant is already on "auto". Thanks.
  4. Side-sensors. The car doesn't actually have side-sensors for the area near your doors right? But it uses the front (and rear) sensors to form an image about what you'll find right near your doors. However, sometimes they'll flash red without anything near your doors. Mostly happens in an intersection with cars getting really close, but the "sensors" flash red 1-2 seconds after a car passes me...
  5. 1.5 tsi dsg, the car changes in 5th even when it's around 55 kmh.
  6. First time connecting I had to open the Android auto app on the phone, and when I connected the cable, I unlocked the phone to tap "allow" 5 different times vor various permissions for the app. After that it didn't ask again. Works fine now. Have an S7, used a random usb cable.
  7. Autogefühl usually has detailed reviews that can go up to 1 hour. They will mention when a car has different driving modes but I haven't seen them actually go through them in a drive. I've read a couple of written reviews about the karoq when I was doing my research but it was the same result. I find it a big misstep on the reviewers side. It paints a very bland picture about most cars, not just the karoq. I know you should test the car yourself, obviously. But in my case, I tested an octavia, kodiaq and karoq all dsg with different dealers and no one actually showed me what driving in sport mode feels like. "Yeah, it revs the engine a bit more" and that's it. Maybe I didn't appear as a serious buyer.
  8. When people review cars on youtube, do they also go through the driving modes of the car? I'm talking about reviews in general. For example many will complain that the automatic has a delay when you put your foot down. But have they tested this in sport mode aswell? I felt it was way more responsive compared to the normal Drive. Also when they complain about the steering, feeling numb. That also is changed in sport mode.
  9. Huh, so for the uk they switched the buttons near the gear lever but the row with the hazard lights is the same. So for me, the startstop button is very easy to reach, hand on my knee and I can reach it with a finger. Easy to activate/deactivate at any given time. But for a uk driver that looks like quite a stretch.
  10. The startstop button is in a different place. It's on the same row with the hazard lights.
  11. The autohold engages in traffic aswell. I know because I disabled it on the first day since it was becoming annoying. The disable button is near the gear shifter and once disabled it will remember this option for future drives. It will however still engage when stopping on an incline.
  12. I saw the car about 3 times here in Bucharest in recent months, but today I was amazed to see one parked on my street with the same blue lava color as mine. It was wierd.
  13. 29. It's a car that just makes sense to me.
