Coming home/leaving home lights working intermittently
Did you get the battery coded to the car or literally just swap the battery over?

DSG DQ250 Service interval
Evening all, I was always lead to believe the 6 speed wet clutch DSG in a MK3.5 TSI VRS 230 (DQ250) had a service interval of 40,000 miles, regardless of time. I had my service today and the garage said I was due a DSG service, as it's been 4 years since the last one. My car is a 2017 model and has covered 32k miles, so technically (at least to my understanding) not due a DSG service for another 8k miles. However it had a DSG service in 2021 (at 17k miles), meaning that the pervious owner had it done at the 4 year mark, and not the 40k miles I've seen suggested. Numerous sources online suggest it's 40k miles with no time interval, Anyone able to shed some more light on this?

Facelift VRS 230 exhast upgrade
Yeah I was thinking smaller back boxes might get me closer to where I wanna be. I did also see people were removing the resonator, but like you said it seems like it creates a lot of drone, and in a car that is already lacking in sound proofing I think it'd be deafening. Been considering biting the bullet and going for a full catback but that price is eye-watering. I also saw about the 230 having a louder exhaust than the 220 when I bought mine, was driving it home thinking the exhaust seemed pretty tame for something sporty. Then read further into it, in the pre-facelift cars the 220 was the standard VRS model, and the 230 was the "sportier" version with uprated exhaust and more toys, then when the facelifted models came along, the 230 became the standard and the 245 got all the toys. Not that it would have influenced my decision about buying it but wish I'd have realised it sooner. Much like your 220, my car is annoyingly whisper quiet 🤣 Thanks for your advice bud!

Facelift VRS 230 exhast upgrade
Evening all, Had my facelift VRS 230 for almost a year now and so far have been loving it, however the stock exhaust is whisper quiet, no character whatsoever. Now I see everywhere people recommending Miltek and Scorpion catback systems, yet these are a little brash for me, each to their own and all but I'm not after earth shaking, neighbour waking volume, just a bit of flavour. The sound I'm after is much like that of a VRS 245, slight overrun burble, bit of a deeper exhaust note and, having a DSG box in mine, I'd love to hear some DSG farts when burying it. Would even love a similar sound to a golf R stock exhaust. I've gone for an OEM+ styling approach for my car and the almost EV like exhaust note just lets it down imo, but the outright shout of a miltek or similar would be too far I think. Have any likeminded people out there achieved this with your cars, and what did you change to achieve this? If anyone knows the differences between the 230 and 245 exhaust systems ( ie different back boxes, etc) that may also be a step in the right direction. It's worth mentioning that my model does not have the GPF so I don't need to worry about that silencing things further. Thanks in advance!

Coming home/leaving home lights working intermittently
I was curious if it was the battery, been running a hard wired dash cam with parking mode and a few months ago the dash cam has been shutting off during parking mode due to battery cutoff, makes sense that the cold weather might be taking the battery lower. Cheers for the input 👍

Coming home/leaving home lights working intermittently
Evening all, developed a bit of an issue on my 2017 Octavia VRS, my Coming home/Leaving home lights do not always function. Noticed on Monday when I left for work early morning and unlocked the car, my lights did not come on as they usually do. I turned lights off and back to Auto with the car off, did a lock/unlock cycle and the lights functioned as normal. Tried it once more after getting to work and turning the engine off, and everything worked as it should. Yesterday everything functioned as normal also. Today I left work, unlocked the car and no lights whatsoever. Started the car and the lights came on as they should have. Got home and turned the car off, opened the door and no coming home lights. Cycled the lights off and back to auto, locked and unlocked the car again and bam, the CH/LH lights work as intended. It seems like they stop functioning when left for a longer period of time, I turned my car off about an hour ago and unlocking it turns the lights on, but leaving it overnight or during my shift at work results in them not always working. Any ideas? My lights are always set to Auto, so I figure if it was an issue with the light sensor then the headlights wouldn't come on when the car is started, but that is not the case. I have no warnings on the dash either. My car has the full LED headlights if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

2017 Facelift Driver Door Vibration
Evening all, I've got an irritating vibration coming from my driver side door on my 2017 VRS. Only noticeable when playing music with heavier bass, but far from pushing it, volume perhaps just over half way. Doesn't sound like a blown speaker, also had the door card off and secured all of the usual suspects such as the window switch and the inside of the door Control module etc. Anyone ran into anything similar and found the culprit? Sounds potentially like it may be from inside the door itself, has anyone known the window actuator to case a vibration? Having the window fully rolled down doesn't seem to make a difference. Also, if anyone has any advice on how to unplug the ambient lighting plug from the door card I'd welcome it, couldn't get the damn thing off last time, I've got some big old hands and for the life of me I couldn't get my fingers around the connector, let alone figure out how to unclip it. Tools seem like a bad idea also as it looks like one slip would result in me ripping the wires out entirely. I can't be dealing with working around the door card hanging by half an inch of cable again. Ta very much!

Attaching new VRS badge on front grille
Evening all! Just purchased a new front grille for my MY67 Octavia VRS, and need to fit the new VRS badge I have. It's the correct badge for that grille, but I'm wondering how to go about attaching it. Does anyone know how this is done at the factory? Some say it's glued, some say it's melted on. Truth be told I was going attach it with 2 part epoxy, but not sure if this is going to last. Any ideas anyone?

Where has my front VRS Emblem gone?!
Hi guys, a little under a week ago I traded in my beloved MY11 Octavia MK2 FL VRS for a rather lovely MY17 MK3 FL VRS, Absolutely loving the upgrade and chuffed to bits with it. However I was walking across the car park after work today and noticed it doesn't actually have a front VRS Emblem on the grille. I don't recall ever seeing one of these without a grille mounted VRS badge, was this an optional extra or something or has some little oik made off with it at some point? Anyway I'm looking to grab a new one, nothing fancy, just after the OEM emblem. It doesn't look like there are any locating tabs or anything on my grille to accept one though, is it literally a case of just buying an emblem from a main dealer and glueing it on to my existing grille? Also, can I assume I'll need one specific to the Facelift Octavia as it looks to me like the Pre Facelift and Facelift grilles are slightly different.

TSI Stage 1 remap and DSG torque
Just the chart I've been looking for, thanks! Seems from the year the box in the MK3 VRS will likely be the DQ380, but I'll check the VIN when looking at cars. I'm looking to go with a DSG box, don't think I can go back to a manual but thanks for the advice. So long as the DSG box is solid enough to take stage 1 then I'm happy.

TSI Stage 1 remap and DSG torque
Sounds great, so I'm assuming the mk3 vrs uses the same 6 speed wet box that my current octy uses? Also what kind of BHP amd torque figures did you achieve from the revo map? Cheers for your help guys

TSI Stage 1 remap and DSG torque
Hey all, So after being the proud owner of a 2011 MK2 FL TSI VRS for many years, the old girl is starting to show her age a bit and is becoming a touch pricey on the old repair bills, so I've decided to hunt around for a 2016-2017 MK3 TSI VRS to replace her with. Given that the power figures for the MK3 TSI VRS aren't too different to my current Octy, I'm considering biting the bullet and slapping a Revo Stage 1 remap on the new car once I get it. However, my current car has the 6 speed wet clutch DSG box and I just feel like I can't go back to a manual. I've been doing a bit of research and I'm not finding much info on what DSG box is fitted to the 2016-17 MK3 VRS TSI, but have read in a couple of discussions on here that the DSG box for this perticular model may not be man enough to handle the uprated torque figures of the Revo Stage 1, is anyone able to shed some light on this? Am I better off just buying one with a manual transmission if I intend to remap it? Cheers!
