  1. MicMac, I guess it depends which side the pressure sensor is located? If it is upstream of the pickup and it is being starved of oil then it would be set off when oil was demanded?
  2. Yes JN sorry this is exactly what I think the problem is! Blocked strainer! I believe it is a fairly common problem
  3. But doesn't returning oil rely on gravity, so if it was retarded by a blockage then the opposite would be true and the oil would sit in the top of the engine while it feeds down through the partially blocked filter?
  4. Ok folks so I posted a few weeks ago about the oil filter light coming on. It seemed to go away after I did oil and filter change so thought everything ok, but it has come back now worse than before.... The key thing this time is I have noticed that if I reduce revs the light generally goes away for a while, so I am starting to suspect the strainer has a blockage. Just had a quick look underneath and sump removal seems fairly straightforward, Allen bolts around the base and two bolts in to the gearbox, but do I have to remove that big radiator pipe or can I manage without, it looks very tight with two protruding parts above the pip! Hope to start working on it tomorrow and so any tips would be appreciated! Thanks
  5. Ok thanks folks... It hasn't come back on for a bit... I was a little worried it might be a blocked pickup tbh.. She has done over 120k and I have thrashed her occasionally over the last 20k....!
  6. ok it does point to something intermittent like that.... Are there any recommendations for a reasonable priced diagnostics unit do you know?
  7. High folks, so the other day I was in the mid-upper revs shall I say (not thrashing by any means) and the red oil light came on and bleeped... I immediately reduced speed planning to stop but it disappeared, so as I was only a couple minutes from home and completed the journey. Next day, I replaced the oil filer, chucked in 3.8l of 0530 and since then I have covered about 150 miles with no issues, until today. My partner rang up and said the red light once again came on, then disappeared leaving the amber light on. I will be checking levels when I get home but I am not sure where to start really... Will plugging in a cheap diagnostics device help me out with codes here? Thanks for help in advance...
  8. Ok folks with winter fast approaching I thought I'd check my bulbs, as I lost a side light. Done that with the following LED, which is looking good. However, I wonder if folks have tried some of the other bulbs, mostly refering to rear cluster with LED and if so, what did you use? I am concerned rear cluster is going to be a bit more critical that side lights which is why I am asking! Side lights I chose: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LT-EE-WO-LN-2PCS-T10-W5W-5630-10LED-CANBUS-NO-ERROR-AUTO-CAR-SIDE-WEDGE-WI/124427258506?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 But how about LED for the 24/4W, indicator, and the red wedges? Anyone tried them? Not bothered about headlamps tbh...
  9. Yeah definately sounds like a load of coblers! LED's are diodes, and diodes prevents Bemf as they are connected across just about every DC inductive load driven by mosfets and transistors alike. I noticed disconnecting the bulb and putting back in means you have to turn headlamps off then on again as the circuit detects and shuts down. Maybe they got confused with this.
