  1. Did you resolve this issue?
  2. Hey folks I am sure I found a procedure for checking oil pressure here the other day... Just got my pressure test indicator kit, not sure where the pressure switch is on this engine! Any pointers would be appreciated!
  3. Hey folks, anyone know if there are any vacuum hose kits for the BWA engine (FSI 2.0 2006)? Found this but not sure how many hoses there should be in total... These look about right though https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384841382027?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m43.l1123&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid=4d45509bfe70407ab3be482eeb12f416&bu=43125274870&osub=-1~1&crd=20221113195131&segname=11051
  4. Thanks TheClient, appreciate the help. Not heard the valve reflected off fences etc... for a loooong time tbh... Is it an easy replacement when accessed?
  5. So firstly my backbox has finally fallen off. As nice as it sounds I need to get a replacement folks. It doesn't seem easy to source something that is reasonably priced! I am not interested in stainless, or deleted systems, just a backbox to the junction. Anyone have any decent suppliers? Also, I have not had any boost for a while. When I last had the airfilter off the following breather? pipe snapped... But can anyone help me recognise the parts of the system that generate vacuum? I think the latter is just a breather but could be wrong... I get the error from my OBD: P2261 - Turbo Boost Pressure Not Detected Mechanical Implausible signal static
  6. ok think it is fuel starvation now... Just tried it and there was a sort of attempt to turn over... big relief. Just hoping the AA will tow it home as it is within a mile 😞
  7. Is there a quick way to tell if my cam belt has failed? I was in local aldi and suddenly lost all power to engine.... Can't remember if it sort of struggled for a second or two, not like it dead cut on my.... Won't start. I did the cam belt about 2000 miles ago and think I did a good job, it certainly wasn't the first nor the fiddliest to do! I think that is why I am suspecting it now though.... Is there something I can quickly remove in the dark and rain (I seem to remember top cover was a bit more involved than a couple of screws!) just to see if things up top are turning? Ta..
  8. To be honest I am completely confused with what engines are what lol... According to wiki Skoda have dropped stratified injection a while ago, but I thought TFSI engines were the best of both worlds, homogines(sp?) and stratified... According to wiki the BWA is a TFSI, but as I said earlier it is labelled FSI, so to be honest I haven't got a clue what system it uses to inject lol! It would be nice to know though... Anyway, I will have a look at the car Thursday, as I am working through until then.
  9. And sorry it is from a VRS. I thought FSI was enough. Didn't they merge FSI and TSI to form the duel fueling TFSI engine? Maybe I got that wrong...
  10. That's brilliant thanks. It is the BWA engine for sure. haha I have stripped my old 406 engine and that was a b!tch! I did the cam belt a few weeks ago too and that was a doddle so sure I'll be ok... So I assume the inlet manifold will get ****ted up from exhaust products? The one on my 406 was proper choked up but that was a diesel to be fair. Had to chisel the **** out! I'll check the video out thank you.
  11. I had no idea this engine had a diverter valve, can it be blanked? I use to notice the wastegate noise reflected of hedges and walls when driving but have not heard it in a long time now... If I grab a piccy with the airbox off can you point me to all the bits? Sadly cash strapped so I cannot afford a proper scan...
  12. Hey folks, so hoping this is just a vacuum hose, my mates VAG reader had errors - lean bank(?) 1, boost pressure low, air leak... Not quite sure which hose to look at, any pointers and other items worth checking while I have things apart? Just to add, I use to hear the wastegate reflected off close objects but have not heard it for a while now, assume this will be down to the same fault? Cheers.
  13. Everything seemed to go well folks, struggled with the allen screws in the aux pulley, and had to remove the right hand engine mount and ant-torque mount in order to shift the engine enough to pull the left engine mount out! So engine just sat on jacks. Just gotta do the high pressure fuel pump next as I think that is well overdue! Performance is a little down too, maybe due to the latter? Anyway, thanks for the help!
  14. Ah thanks chaps, it looks like the BWA engine then 🙂 Thanks for all the help... Wish me luck! 😄
  15. Ah damn, logbook is at home... is there a number from the engine or chassis?
  16. sorry meant 2ltr petrol
  17. Looking at the kits available there are differences, but I don't know why!? https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/timing-belt-set-10505/skoda/octavia/octavia-1z3/19458-2-0-rs?supplier[]=33
  18. Cheers Nige, will have a look 🙂
  19. Hey folks, couple questions.... I've done a few cam belts before, Escort zetec, pug 406 (absolute ****** including head removal for a skim) so tbh I am not too worried as there appears to be a fair bit of room, but I wonder if there is some technical info so I can fabricate a locking pin, and determine anything else I need to know like torque settings etc...? I see Haynes only do a manual for the diesel engine of this age, which is disappointing! Also, looking at cambelt kits + water pumps normally I go for Gates kits are there any other recommendations? Looking here there is quite a range with an equal range in prices! https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/timing-belt-set-10505/skoda/octavia/octavia-1z3/19458-2-0-rs?categories[0]=3096 Thanks, Olly.
  20. Sorry I meant the extra dimpled / grooved??
  21. So, my Octy is getting old now. 2006, VRS Mk2 TFSI engine with 123k on the clock! I still like to thrash her from time to time but I can't help feel I am on borrowed time somehow, so generally drive her appropriately 80% of the time. Can anyone suggest what I need to generally keep an eye on? I am going to sort the cam belt and water pump out soon, so while I have the engine in bits I might as well check other bits! Also it anyone can point me toward a manual for cambelt change that would be awesome! Thanks!
  22. Hi folks I need to replace disks and pads, and am looking at this page with their "performance" range. Firstly, is it worth going for vented? Secondly, the rear disks are offered in different sizes... Will the larger size fit without changes to the calipers? Thanks https://www.mtecbrakes.com/brake-discs/skoda/octavia-2004/octavia-vrs-2-0-tfsi-12-05-12-13
  23. ok folks sump came off fairly easily in the end (just two bolts on the clutch side a PITA) and there were bits in the strainer mesh... Soo I just gave it a damn good clean with my jet washer, removed all traces of old oil then heated it to get rid of any water. Went back in and everything has been fine since! Fingers crossed it will be ok... To be fair I had been overdue with an oil filter recently so lesson learnt there...
