  1. Thank you for your reply. I get 30mpg around town and 50mpg on a long run in the Superb and used to get 40mpg around town and 60mpg on a long run for n the Octavia.
  2. Car has done 150,000 miles and is used as a taxi. Fuel consumption is poor even on a long run and this is based on owning an Octavia with the same engine previously. I have checked all the usual things such as tyre pressures, wheel alignment, binding brakes and all filters have been recently changed. I visited fellow forum member Martin (Gizmo) last weekend and have some readings below from VCDS. Car starts and drives ok, but I would appreciate it if you can see anything obvious which might explain the poor fuel consumption and how I can rectify it. Engine speed 819/min Injection start 0.0 Injection duration 8.7KW Torsion value 0.0KW (adjusted from -1.5) Group 13 Injection quantity Cyl 1 Cyl 2 Cyl 3 Cyl 4 -1.32 0.09 0.47 0.71 Group 15 Engine torque 56.1N/M Fuel consumption 1.0l/hr Torque request 0.0N/M
  3. I have a similar problem with my car which has done 150,000 miles and is used as a taxi. Fuel consumption is poor even on a long run and this is based on owning an Octavia with the same engine previously. 4. Thank you for your replies. I've had the camshaft replaced by a local garage. I supplied the camshaft kit which I bought from Darkside Developments. Total cost was £800 Best wishes Paul
  5. Hi, Through on-line research, I think my 133k 1.9 TDI BXE engine is showing the symptoms of camshaft wear. Does anybody know of a trusted and competent mechanic near the Medway Towns that would be able to confirm my diagnosis and rectify the problem. Regards Paul

  7. Service history is a bit patchy, so cannot be 100% sure correct oil has been used before I bought it. VCDS scan shows no faults, so glowplugs are ok. The only thing that did show up was injector value on no. 1 was a fair bit different to the other three, but still within tolerance.
  8. Sorry, I should have said, it's a manual
  9. Temperature gauge gets to 85 and then stays there as opposed to the usual 90 on my previous cars. Changed thermostat and coolant temperature sensor, but to no avail. Anybody know what else it could be? Thanks Paul
  10. Thanks for all your replies. Bit the bullet and bought a used unit as it was not too expensive.
  11. Rear centre console display is very dim, only just visible. Any ideas on what the problem might be? Thanks Paul
  12. Thank you for all of your replies so far. As engine misfires for a few seconds after starting whether engine is cold or hot, would this mean that I can rule out glow plugs as the cause?
  13. Thanks for your reply. Could be EGR and fortunately it doesn't have a DPF fitted.
