  1. Hi guys thanks for the response .. the issues happened before the fuel filter was fitted . Also happened after . Its actually been fine today starting on the key with no throttle at all . Strange !! Mum sure it will start playing up again when I’m miles away from my house
  2. Thanks for response ... filter was was dirty but fuel in canister looked clean . Strange how it starts when you give it throttle . Drives perfectly once started . No dash lights or error codes . Scanned on 2 readers
  3. Good evening Skoda boffs .. Went to the shops in my car today . Was away for about half an hour when I returned to my car it wouldn’t start . Just didn’t seem to turn over . I tried it a few times and when I put my foot fully on the accelerator it started up . Drove it home once parked tried it again started first time . Tried it for a 2nd time didn’t start with the same problem as before . If I give it lots of fuel it fires up . If not it’s hits and miss . Car is a 2008 cr170 vrs . I fitted a few filters I had been meaning to fit . Fuel filter was dirty but new one has made no difference any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed
  4. Ok after another look I believe it’s definitely something to do with the recirc on the ventilation system . Is is this a common easy fix ??
  5. Hello all .. got a strange issue I can’t figure out .. here goes .. octavia 2008 estate vrs cr tdi it has a rattle at 2000rpm . Sounds like a tingle or very high pitched rattle . Sounds like it’s coming through the air vents . Put the fan system into recirc mode makes almost the same sound . Is there a common problem with a flap or something ?? I’m struggling . It it has had a new clutch , flywheel etc etc within the last couple of weeks before anyone suggests that lol .. any help or micky taking gladly appreciated.
  6. Yeah I’ll second that ... sounds normal .
  7. Just a quick one ... would removing the internals of a dpf change the engine tone or sound ?
  8. It’s had quantum longlife 3 5w30 fully synthetic which is OEM vw oil . It’s been changed every 7k or so . Im sure it’s nothing to worry about as it gets quiet after a few miles
  9. Hi ken , Service was 6 months ago but only 3000miles . Quantum oil was used . i had a 1.9 pd tdi that used to be very tappety for 20 seconds then it was fine . This one seems to be noisy for longer . Once warm it’s quiet and lovely
  10. Good evening . I’ve had my 2008 vrs cr 170 for a couple of months now . Can’t fault the car . The only thing I have slight concerns about is the tappets when cold . Quite noisy especially noticeable when the window is down . Goes away after 2-3 miles . Car has a impeccable service history and has covered 110k . Should I be concerned or is this just due to the oil draining out the hydraulic lifters ? Thanks for helping
  11. Looks awesome . I remember there was a mod of the interior light in golf mk4 ( same as octo mk2 ) where you fitted a Touareg light and it had the two small red leds built in .. great mod !
  12. Hello all ... had my vrs cr 170 for a couple of weeks now . Love the car but on two or three seperate occasions it’s felt as it it had a very obvious misfire .. as if the turbo just stopped or the fuel was blocked for a split second . It’s done it at high speed and low speed . As soon as I let off the throttle and then I go back on it the fault has cleared itself . Back to full power . No fault codes . Any ideas ?? Sound familiar ?? Also I must add it’s done this on part throttle and full throttle .
  13. Thanks for the reply .. yeah it’s certainly a more refined lump . I’m just wondering if my low revs whine sound is normal for this engine . Its not a gearbox whine or anything like that . Just the engine noise doesn’t sound diesel at all under 2000rpm . Maybe it’s just me :-)
  14. Hello .. new to the Skoda scene but a long time vag owner . Brought a 2008 vrs cr 170 . The car has got fanrastic fully documented service history for all of the 110k it has on the clock . My only concern is the one of the engine in low revs ( below 2000) sounds more like a whine than a Diesel engine . As soon as the revs build it’s obviously a turbo diesel but much more refined than my old pd130 golf . Any help would be appreciated . Car drives fine and the noise is in 1st and 2nd gear easy to hear as going slow usually .
