Clutch slipping!
Yes true. I should have said, since everyone's feedback, I'm less shocked/surprised. But, it doesn't negate the fact that I've spoken to 3-4 garages and all of them are surprised my clutch is already not coping at only 16k. Im not ragging the car everytime i drive it. And tbh I do less then 10k a year, but it is what it is. And I agree with you it clearly needs to be uprated.

Clutch slipping!
Well, I'm not shocked or surprised. But there are plenty of people on here that have had stage 1/2 remaps on the OEM clutch without any issues at all. I'm not running 500bhp or 550nm so in theory it should be fine. I've had stage 1s on my previous cars and the clutches were fine even after 50k miles. My cars done 16k, and it should be fine. But I guess it's luck of the draw.

Clutch slipping!
Yeah tell me about it. You are right, but many garages I've spoken to do think the standard clutch should cope with a stage 1.5 fine. You are right, when I drive the car gently it copes ok, but both garages I spoke to are surprised it slips. The clutch should be good for 450nm (apparently) maybe Im Producing more then that. I won't know for sure until I get it on a rolling road.

Clutch slipping!
All sorted. Getting an uprated clutch kit fitted. Not changing the flywheel at this stage, but since the cars only done 16k I'm sure the OEM is fine. I'll let you know how it goes!

Clutch slipping!
Thanks for your responses again guys. They are much appreciated. It seems there is no easy answer to this and i have seen mixed responses about some people having no problems with the factory clutch and others needing an uprated one, some seem to last ages other don't. I much admit, I think the price quoted is for a standard Sach clutch and flywheel, so i guess this will be a like for like replacement. If my standard clutch is already worn after 16k miles (having had the car since new) I worry i will be in the same boat again after another 16k. Believe it or not, i didnt rag the car either and i am really easy on the clutch. I am not doing the quarter mile every time i drive it so I am shocked that im already getting slippage. But it is what it is. I suppose I might have to bite the bullet and pay for an uprated clutch, although with fitting, i guess this could end up costing me £1500+???

Clutch slipping!
Hi all, Thanks for all the responses. A garage have quoted me two options, but I am not sure if the clutches are uprated but I believe they should be fine for the bhp/torque. They have suggested Luk Clutch kit and flywheel £1133.75 plus fitting and VAT or Sach Clutch and flywheel supplied and fitted and VAT for £1058. Both include 2 years parts and labour. Does anyone have a view on which is better. I understand Sach tend to be the most recommended.

Clutch slipping!
Yeah appears to be, which is why I was surprised for the milage I have. I know the torque is crazy with the fact I have a hiflow CAT fitted as well. But when the boost comes in, it's just nuts.

Clutch slipping!
Well sounds like it's just the way it is. The car is putting out so much power with the hiflow cat as well that it doesn't surprise me that it can't cope. I was just shocked as I've heard that the clutches are meant to be good for up to 350bhp.

Clutch slipping!
Hi mate, Thanks for this response, much appreciated. I will take a look at the clutch options. Do you recommend the full clutch kit or will the Sachs performance do the trick on its own? Or is it a full kit job regardless?

Clutch slipping!
It feels ok, doesn't feel much different then before in all fairness. But, I guess I'm going to have to get it all checked out at that point in time. I didn't expect to have to sort a new clutch at this point, so budget won't stretch to £1200, but have enough to get an uprated clutch + fitting, but I am just hoping it doesn't need a total overhaul.

Vrs clutch upgrade
I've just put a post similar to this. I've just had some work done on my car yesterday, hiflow cat, custom exhaust, intake and stage 2 remap. The car is now putting out about 320bhp, but the clutch is totally useless. I've had my car 3 years and done 18k miles. It's basically brand new and I can't understand why the clutch is slipping so badly. Not sure if the garage screwed it. Or whether the torque is just too much.

Clutch slipping!
What's the symptoms of a damaged mass fly wheel? Im pretty sure it's ok. But I haven't drive the car much at all since the work was only done yesterday and I've avoided driving it since the clutch slip is dreadful. It feels smooth at low rpm, but do you recommend avoiding driving it until a new clutch is fitted?

Clutch slipping!
Thanks for the quick response. Well that's interesting to know, It might be normal. Out of interest, is it the exact same clutch at the Mk7 GTI?

Clutch slipping!
Hi All, I have recently had my car remapped and and some other work done. I have a 2018 Vrs with 18k on the clock, owned it from new. I fitted an induction kit around 12 months ago and have just had a custom exhaust fitted, Hi flow cat and a stage 2 remap. The cars putting out about 320-330bhp (will validate on a rolling road soon). I've never had the clutch slip once and the car is basically not driveable. The clutch slip is so bad I can't get the power down. I'm massively shocked as the car has only done 18k and I never had clutch slip at all before the remap. I am unsure at this stage where the clutch just can't handle the torque or if something suspect happened when they garage had my car. They took it out for a test drive and advised me they had to detune it because of the excessive clutch slip. I am unsure as to whether the clutch got damaged during the test drive or if I'm just unlucky and the clutch has worn out. I will look to get an uprated clutch, but just want to understand if this is normal and whether I have a leg to stand on. Believe it or not, I don't push the car that hard and never had issues with the clutch prior to this. Any advice is much appreciated. P.s. any recommendations for clutches is appreciated.

Performance Air Filters
I fitted an induction kit RAM air with the upgraded turbo elbow. Adds about 5bhp, but sounds sick!

Octavia VRS - Custom Exhaust (2018)
Hi All, I am new to this forum, so apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong place! I am due to have a custom turbo back exhaust system fitted in January and I need to purchase some tips. I was wondering if anyone has had a custom exhaust or even a Milltek system etc fitted to the car and has photo they could share. As we all know the VRS comes with the horrid silver triangle shaped bits at the end which will be removed, but without having an exisiting exhaust tip, its hard to picture what would look good and what wouldn't. I was thinking an RS6 type of exhaust tip, but if anyone could share some photos of what they have, that would be very helpful. Thanks Scott.
