Who makes the fuel tank pump?
Yes I am aware it is likely a connection problem. I don't want to mess around with bending the brand new fuel pump pins even 'slightly' but I had tried forcing the connecting octagonal box socket female inserts closer together. Wondering if I should get a new connecting box sorted. The female pins in it do look pretty tight but from experience (in another profession) the connectors are often the problem and a new connector does the job. Cheers (Re the air block/leakage....that was from my mechanic's other suggestion of his experience with a (different make) vehicle that had an air block causing start up difficulties.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
I've cleaned out that WD40 anyway with another cleaner and then used an air duster to dry it off. The car started for a couple of days but today refuses again. I saw an old post, last dated at 2017 pertaining to possible air block/leakage and changing the mettalic seal between the vacumm/fuel pump to engine block cured that problem of non starting.....I've message that driver hoping to get an idea where his particular fuel pump was situated as I'm not sure if my 1.6tdi has another pump in the engine compartment as well as the replaced one in the fuel tank under the back seat.

Car Won't Start
Is/was your car a diesel or petrol? I'm trying to figure out where your fuel pump is situated, either in the engine compartment or actually in the fuel tank under the back seat like my diesel 1.6tdi? I have ongoing start up problems even after fitting a new Bosch battery and several visits to the (non Skoda) garage. If it is possible for me to get this metallic seal replaced, I'll do it if I know where it is! Thanks.

WD 40 left residual 'wetness' and took a while to clean out. There is another WD40 specific for this job.

Ah sorry...in the end a Bosch pump has been fitted, its the second replacement.

Thanks MinMac.....this got me thinking, would you know if I can use a switch cleaner on these electrical points, right over the fuel tank !? I've just spotted Halfords 'electrical' cleaner, no residue, might give that a shot.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
Sooooo....the new Bosch in tank fuel pump was installed and off we went for three days of use before another non start day. I lifted the seat, uncovered the fuel pump area, thumped the fuel tank alongside the pump and it started! A quick discussion with the mechanic and it must (now?) be a dodgy wire connection. Uncovering the pump again shows all connections firmly settled, the wire 'feed' to the pump looks and feels all secure, I couldn't pull any wires away at all. What else could be loose just that tiny bit to hinder the pump starting up unless its given that sharp thump and whatever it is must be right on or around that area of the tank....remembering that the AA thumped the tank's underside and it started up, I'm losing the will! Has anyone got a contact number direct to Skoda UK (not a dealership) as I'd like to ask one of their 'experts' about this. Thanks.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
And further to this tale!!........... So after a few days of starting up without any problems, this brand new Intermotor fuel pump started to emit a louder than usual start up noise, almost 'choking' (yes noises are difficult to explain!) but the engine did fire up and I travelled okay in the car. However the next day the car would not start, no initial fuel pump 'buzz' as the pump kicked in, the engine turned over by battery power only but no fuel supply to the engine. I waited 30 mins and tried again and it caught but the pump was emitting a very loud 'whine' which I recorded. Definitely something wrong with this one so its to be replaced with a Bosch one. My mechanic has since said he isn't sure about Intermotor stuff these days anyway (aarrgghh!) . The Bosch part 0986580826 ranges from £50 from RTS Motor supplies through Ebay to £89 from Inetrmotor themselves or £144 from my mechanic off Motor Parts Direct who actually have it as £129 online and my mechanic has told me they will charge him more than to a customer! I'll attach if possible the 'new' fuel pump under the back seat as recorded onto my phone. Fuel pump noise.m4a

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
It was a Intermotor box but a different name on the part, something starting like AEM maybe. Mechanic said suppliers often run out of their own stuff and will replace in the box with another manufacturers. It came from online suppliers Parts In Motion, Essex I think.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
So maybe it’s all resolved now. A new fuel tank pump was installed. The garage supplier for the pump was £140 but online 24 hour delivery from another company was just £90 for exactly the same part. Installing was £48. The car has been fine since so here’s hoping it’s all sorted. Thanks for all helpful comments. Finding the correct fit threw up a plethora of available manufacturers for this fit of pump but nobody saying which was the best to go for. Cars eh!

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
The fuel pump ‘initiating’ sound (my description) only sounds when the ignition key is inserted and turned, if I don’t hear that sound then the engine wouldn’t catch, it would only turn over….and eventually drain the battery!

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘when you open the ‘door’.? We are now looking at the actual fuel tank pump having a slightly jittery motor within. The AA service guy banged the u dear side of the fuel tank which seems (for now?) to have ‘released’ the sticking motor as it has started up quite freely the last five times……but I’m still not convinced it is fixed enough to take on a long road trip so a new one will be installed.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
My mechanic uses a company who provide a part for £140 but I can get it online at £80 ! Such is the irregularity of online pricing!

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
Thanks but I wouldn’t rely on a scrappy for electrical parts…..wing mirrors or other car body parts I have in the past been okay with.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
This is what I’m trying to do as I’ve seen a few stories of not so good s/h parts failing and the suppliers of these units not helping at all with refunds or re-supply.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
Thanks Varoom……I’ll look this up. Also, I keep finding this number as reference to my year of car….5Q0919088AM?

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
Yes, very likely one of 4 or 5 makes, just like the best deal the manufacturer gets for tyres at the time.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
Possibly a loose wire. However, mechanic uncovered the pump situated under the rear seat and all wires in good order so I’m baffled regarding wiring. Maybe some dirt was dislodged inside the pump, maybe the float is unstable or other mechanical internal part.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
In answer….because the AA checked the car out with a diagnostics programme and couldn’t find any electrical fault. My garage (not Skoda dealership) also ran a diagnostic with no result. The usual fuel tank pump ‘sound’ when putting th ignition key in was not sounding. A new relay was installed and still the pump ‘sound’ was not happening. A second call to the AA brought out a chap who tried starting the engine….it turns over but doesn’t run. He crawled under the car, rapped his knuckles on the underside of the pump and hey presto, the car started…. when the ignition was switched on the ‘sound’ of the pump initiating was heard and the engine ran. The AA reckoned a fuel pump was needed. I can get part numbers but not even a Skoda dealer knew the actual make/manufacturer used by Skoda. I just want to get the best manufacturer rather than one that will suffice for now or a used one.

Who makes the fuel tank pump?
I’m looking into replacing my 2011 1.6tdi Octavia’s fuel tank pump……I called a dealership but they have no idea what make of fuel pump was and would be supplied as a replacement. Would anyone have an idea of the ‘usual’ make used or…the best replacement unit as in Bosch, Delphi etc? I have a thread going elsewhere about this but am hopeful the topic headline here will lead to a quicker response. Thanks.

Octavia 2011 Tdi 1.6 non starting engine and chime sounds when opening drivers door.
The latest…… I replaced the battery which had a guarantee so a free exchange there. I replaced the fuel pump relay, my mechanic put in a £20 relay so all new there. The car still had the problem of turning over but not catching which happened more often to the point of not using the car. I re-called the AA and the man took my point on the fuel tank pump not ‘initialising’ (my words) when the ignition was switched on. Thankfully the car would NOT start when he tried so we raised the rear seat up to visually inspect the pump and all wires etc were in good order. He then crawled alongside the car and gave what I presume was the underside of the fuel pump a couple of hard knocks. The car then started! “ Full pump replacement” he said ….. so now the question whether I can change it myself or take it back to the garage. QUESTION: Does anyone know the MAKE of fuel tank pumps used in these diesel 2011 Octavia Hatchbacks ? Skoda didn’t! So far I’m looking at Bosch online at about £85 or Delphi at around the same cost, guessing I should get new seals/gaskets. Thanks in advance.

Octavia 2011 Tdi 1.6 non starting engine and chime sounds when opening drivers door.
I’ve been thinking towards getting the fuel tank pump module replaced or should I get the whole assembly replaced…any thoughts welcome? So the car has started fine this past week until this Saturday morning when it refused. As I’m on a hill I let the car move a couple of feet backwards in auto reverse gear hoping to ‘jog’ any part that needed it. Left it a couple of minutes and then it did start up. The mechanic did replace one failed number plate bulb that may have been the cause of the slow triple chimes that had occurred but as mentioned earlier in a post, it may still be a battery problem, leakage or other as so far both AA and my garage find no diagnostic fails.

Octavia 2011 Tdi 1.6 non starting engine and chime sounds when opening drivers door.
Car service done.....diagnostics done again and no faults/code faults found. The mechanic said at one point the baterry flattened but he was trying the engine start a lot so (we hope) it was just that. He could not find any other fault. The fuel filter was dirty but he has seen worse. At present I am veering towards a possible fuel tank pump starting to lose its life. I know if I hear that 'buzz' of the fuel prime going the engine will start......possibly a new part replacement. Can I do it myself.....hmmmm! Thanks so far folks.
