  1. Thanks for all the suggestions, I have decided to go with bigjohn's use of the split charge relay PCT Volton ZR1220. Awaiting it's delivery today. I particularly did not want the hassle of running a cable front to back knowing I would'nt have the skill or patience to do a neat job. The rear camera is a MIO 538 and is unaffected by the magnets.
  2. I would like advice on how to wire a rear facing dash cam to an ignition switched 12v. Front camera wired to fuse box as per many tips on the forums. I have now fitted a dash cam at the rear, thin neodymium magnet under the head lining and another magnet glued to camera mount, saves sticking camera to the rear window. Routed power cable round under the tailgate seal to the 12v socket plugged in all works fine. But this is the first car I have owned where the 12v/cig lighter socket is permanently live. Forgot to unplug twice now and battery dead after a few days parked. Could I use power from the rear light cluster such as the daytime running lights? I have looked at the connector but cannot determine which wire does what apart from the return. Would the DTL wire be able to run the dash cam, 1amp max I believe?
  3. I got a new OctoEst last year and am much pleased with it. For a 1.4 its the quickest accelerating car I've ever had, not that I can enjoy it round here as I live at the A57/A628 linear car show. I'm long retired now so using that as an excuse for taking a while to get used to all the electronic gadgetry, I'll get round to the parking feature eventually! Good car.
