  1. Me too - that's why I'm fitting a new13 pin plug after struggling to part them afterwards
  2. I have a race car transporter with 13 pin electrics so I'm used to the plug & twist action needed. I'm fitting a 13 pin plug to the trailer tomorrow to cut out the adapter which might help Thank you for the feedback
  3. Thanks for that - I disconnect and reconnected many times without success. I'll see if new trailer lights fix the issue. Strange that you have to disarm the interior alarm before connecting a trailer though I'll make sure the car is unlocked first going forward Cheers
  4. Hello All, I'm enjoying my new Edition 2.0TSI and pleased to be finally driving my first Skoda after a 7 month wait. An experience delayed by Hortons ordering the wrong specification car - Twice!! I've used the Kodiaq a few times to tow a garden trailer and I must say it's a better towing tool than my Land Rover Freelander 2. However I've found the Kodiaq 13 pin electrical connection to be a bit flaky. A couple of times the lights haven't worked, however a wiggle of the plug has usually sorted it. Yesterday I plugged the trailer in using the supplied 7 pin to 13 pin adapter and not all lights were working on the trailer. I went to open the driver's door and in my haste, managed to simultaneously lock/unlock the Kessy door handle - the alarm went off! My phone then buzzed with a Skoda Connect message.......... Online Anti-Theft Alarm was triggered due to an action performed by the tow-bar of your vehicle Seems I have a dispute with a tow hook Since that time, none of the trailer lights have worked and there are no trailer related messages on the various driver menu pages to give a clue about actions I should take.. I called Hortons and they didn't have a clue (standard response) - the 'technician' couldn't even tell me how to access the fuse box. Still I was quite pleased to get through to the workshop this time. Previous enquiries have been handled by the showroom receptionist who insists on personally dealing with such matters armed with no technical expertise I checked the trailer electrics fuse and all is good. Tried the trailer on the Land Rover and all lights working with that vehicle. During my research I discovered a couple of surprising trailer related matters...... 1. The manual says you shouldn't use trailers with LED lights (??) when most modern trailers use them now 2. You're supposed to turn off the car's interior alarm sensors by pressing the little button on the B-pillar on the driver's side before connecting or disconnecting the towing electrics - who knew?. Sadly my car has no such button, however I managed to do this through the vehicle configuration menus. Still no joy So I called Skoda Customer Services. They didn't have a skooby either and told me to phone Hortons again - apparently SUK have no access to technical resources, which is reassuring. So caught between muppets and hard place. I was wondering if anyone else had an idea on how to resolve this. I'm thinking that the CanBus system has had its brains rattled and needs some electronic intervention Meanwhile I'm looking for ebay for old fashioned replacement trailer side lights with halogen bulbs. It doesn't feel like progress.
  5. Cheers for that - fair point about it being better to be too sensitive than too late!
  6. Thanks for that - yes, I’m a little worried why it was activated twice today whereas I’d had no such problems previously. I’ve driven the same roads a few times in the Kodiaq without incident. There were no cars or obvious hazards ahead of me. The system kicked in when I think it ‘saw’ a Gatso camera (no different to the many lampposts) and a Keep Left island. Fortunately it didn’t deploy the brakes and it was more of a fleeting warning
  7. Damn, that’s it! Thanks for the quick feedback Apologies that I’ve missed that in the handbook and wasted your time - pity that the Hortons service department didn’t know that. However that’s been a pretty typical example of their customer service.
  8. Hello All, I’ve now covered about 350 miles in my new car and loving it so far. I have just about every driver aid fitted and I think I’ve grasped the hand of most things. However today on a short journey I had a new Symbol flash up red and large on the colored central display between the clocks. I’ve gone through the handbook and can find nothing like it. My dealer is equally clueless, so I’m throwing this one out there to the more knowledgeable user group. The warning ( I assume it’s a warning as there’s a beep and it flashes up red momentarily) is a plan view of a car with ‘radar’ type graphics radiating outwards from all four sides. These look like the WiFi signal strength symbol used on an iPhone, times four. It came up twice in 20 minutes - once when passing a speed camera (coincidence? As I wasn’t speeding and sub 40mph) and the second time as I followed the lane as it deflected slightly left/right around a central island at around 25mph Something to do with lane assist? I’ve played around with it on motorways to marvel as it auto corrects, however I thought it only came on above 40mph and deliberately allowing the car to wander hasn’t triggered this warning previously. Anyone else cracked this conundrum?
  9. Just a quick update....... i followed the advice above and as predicted when I cancelled the PCP contract on Day 2, I paid a grand total of £7.80 interest and kept the £2K deposit contribution and free servicing. You also get 30 days to settle the balance - Result!! Thanks to everyone for your great advice
  10. Thanks again everyone - loving this forum. What seemed to to be an issue has become a master class in handling VWFS documentation - I now feel back in charge of the situation. Very much looking forward to collecting my first ever Skoda - an Edition 2.0TSI next week
  11. Cheers everyone for the reassurance about the type of contract and for the good advice on tactics - looks like a win/win now
  12. Thanks for the feedback on both aspects - there is a balloon payment so I guess that makes it a PCP contract. I think an early termination is definitely on the cards if I can keep the deposit contribution and free servicing deal Cheers for the good advice
  13. Hello All; Expecting to collect my first Skoda next week after an 8 month wait (don't ask!). It's also my first PCP deal - I usually use my savings however I wanted to take advantage of the current deposit contribution + servicing offer. The electronic contract arrived today for signing. The sub-heading entitled 'Type of Finance' says 'Hire Purchase' - Is that right? The dealers says 'It's OK' however Skoda Finance wouldn't comment but said 'Sign and then we can check'!! FFS Is that any way to do business. - The APR and excess mileage are also different to the current offer on the Skoda UK website which is odd. I'm probably worrying over nothing but it would be good to know if this is all kosher
