Skoda Kodiaq Dash Camera Installation Guide
Raymorris replied to silver1011's topic in Skoda Kodiaq Guides
Hi ...just reading this a long time after the initial post If you buy a nextbase 3 4 or 5 series you can buy a plug in rear view camera (two types...one plugs directly into the side of the forward facing camera ...disadvantage is rear view can be restricted by passengers ....the other version mounts on the rear screen and is hardwired to the front camera where it directly plugs into the side of it ) both options take their power from the front camera direct and don't need a separate power source ....I'm sure there are other brands that do this too ...hope it helps ...even if a bit late in the day -
No ...they are scratches

I've just replaced all the interior with blue led too ...I've done this on all my cars over the years ...still have footwell bulbs to do in blue too ...as soon as my order turns up -

Hi ...I know this is an old post ...but just wondered if there was any particular "knack" to removing the metal cover? -
Yes that's a possibility too ...but although I've got a heated screen I've never actually used it as the car is always garaged and I've never actually had any ice on the screen as yet ...even on a run after taking the car out of the garage in the winter the screen has always been warm enough to stop ice forming ...it just seems that ...with a perfectly clean screen and wiper blades ...the scratches just formed for no reason ...which is the reason I think it may be related to the physical characteristics of the wiper/blade assembly itself possibly also linked to a softer compound glass on a heated screen
-
Thanks for the information ...that's what I was looking for really ...a constructive starting point to try and get to the bottom of the issue ..I've got a heated screen and it seems to be a theme with some other members too ...I doubt Skoda would ever acknowledge this but it's good to get a heads up on the issue ....thank you
-
I agree ....can I make this post possibly a little clearer ...I KNOW how scratches are caused etc etc ...the question is ...bearing in mind the care most people take of their cars to avoid this is ....has anyone experienced unexpected scratches and do you have a theory as to why ....without constantly stating the obvious ...which has been taken into consideration already
-
Yes ...it seems so
-
Yes ...that's why I don't even consider changing the screen at this stage ...I probably won't have the car when it's first mot is due but if I do I'll consider it then ....in the meantime I'm just gauging opinion from those people who have encountered this issue unexpectedly ....ie those others who actually care for their cars and clean the blades etc but have encountered this ...the numbers seem to be growing
-
Virtually identical to mine
-
As I mentioned above ...I've been a car owner for about 45 years ....mostly brand new and regularly changed ...every 12 to 18 months ....I'm well versed on how to avoid and repair scratches etc ...but in all my time of ownership I've never had arc scratches like these ...like most others I regularly clean the blades etc etc etc ...car is garaged ...usually have two cars so low mileage ...this car is one year old on 31/5/18 and has only covered 3600 miles ...just think it's a bit strange and I'm convinced it's a structural problem with the wiper operation
-
It may be ...I have a heated screen too ..
-
Not as yet ...I've tried the usual mild scratch remedy with an ultra light abrasive (toothpaste...yes it works) ...but no joy on this occasion ...I'm loath to get the screen professionally polished as this can affect the structural integrity of the screen ...I'm also trying to see if it's possible to resin fill and smooth the scratch in the same way as a chip can be filled ...up to now no joy ...the screen companies all simply want to completely replace the screen ....I'll do this as a last resort in a couple of years time for it's first mot ...if I still own it by then ...
