  1. Maybe it’s the much mentioned 600 mile period where the ECU adjusts to your style of driving after having the update? Could be the adjustments it makes are negating elements of the fix.
  2. Had the update applied to my MY18 Octavia a week ago and I’m also trying to unlearn the compensating I’ve been doing with the pedals for the last 14 months. The judder seems to have gone and going 1st-2nd-3rd is really smooth now, before when changing gear the power would drop for a moment. There’s still a point when pulling away in 1st as I let the clutch pedal up, at about 80% up, the car does a little jerk. It doesn’t feel like a loss of power, more like a software bug triggering the hill hold function and tapping on the brakes for a millisecond. Anyway, it’s much better.
  3. The dealer called me to say a new update was available now but they’re busy and the earliest they could book me in is early September. My car’s always had the ‘roo in 1st. There’s occasional judder in 2nd. I’m not sure if it has the same hesitation as others have reported, sometimes I’ll put my foot down in 2nd or 3rd and the car will slow down before speeding up. Not a total loss of power though.
  4. Mine is a MY18 Octavia. I got it last July, the ‘roo was diagnosed in September and at that time there was already something on their system about it requiring a software update. It’ll finally get it this September.
  5. Yeah, dealer just phoned me to get my Octavia booked in for the update but they must be busy, it’s 3 weeks away. Hopefully the update doesn’t get pulled before then...!
  6. Probably down to the 1.5 having ACT and achieving those figures running on 2 cylinders.
  7. Most of the comments I’ve seen from VW/Skoda are along these lines, I just hope that they’re not limiting their proposed fix to cold engines only. Mine was still doing it yesterday at the end of a 1 hour drive.
  8. When I picked mine up the display said the remaining range was 7 miles! There’s a petrol station next door to the dealer so my first drive in the car was around 200 yards.
  9. Yeah, I’m also concerned about being stuck with a car I cannot sell especially as VW/Skoda are refusing to allow this design flaw (sorry, characteristic) as a reason for rejecting the car for a refund. Seriously thinking of paying off the finance early just so I save a bit on the interest and end up losing less money overall.
  10. VW used it first before Skoda got it - see the Golf 1.5 TSI EVO. The VW T-ROC forums all have the same 1.5 TSI complaints as the Karok has here.
  11. Over on the T-Roc forums, a VW customer has been told the fix will be available in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
  12. Hmmmm...the Consumer Rights Act says you can reject a car within the first 6 months if the fault can’t be fixed. Not sure how we stand if we keep the car past the six month limit while waiting for this fix to turn up...
  13. I haven’t been back to the dealer and haven’t heard from them. I have been keeping an eye on the Karoq forum where they seem to be keeping the thread alive. I’d expect to hear more stories now that they are starting to ship all those cars they’ve been stockpiling on airfields waiting for WLTP.
  14. It’ll add to the fun pulling out of the drive on an icy/snowy morning.
  15. A year ago the anti-stall feature revved the engine at 1800 rpm when pulling away in first. Lots of customers complained about that so a software update reduced that to 1100 rpm. That seems to have introduced the kangaroo problem so now we’re waiting on another update. Wouldn’t surprise me if they increased the revs again.
  16. Took mine into the dealer today for a diagnostic on this issue. After testing, they checked and there is a new tech bulletin from Skoda about this saying that a fix is being developed, just not available yet. Soon as it is they’ll call me to take the car in. So for now it’s +1 complaint logged with Skoda against this issue and I’ve got paperwork detailing it being a known fault awaiting a fix.
  17. I’ve got visions of someone hacking away at an Excel spreadsheet, bashing in numbers and formulae to generate graphs and curves and just failing to get the end of one curve matched up with the start of the next and causing the revs to dip.
  18. There’s been a few posts on here about it: The pedal is now little more than a lever, some software detects how far you’ve pressed it and sends a signal off to the engine. Trouble seems to be that the software guys haven’t quite got the mapping right and have also been adding some tweaks (such as the first version where it upped the rpm to 1800 to help avoid stalling). Maybe one day they’ll get it right...but going back to the dealer to get software updates is going to get tiresome! Mine’s at the stage where on starting to lift the clutch it ups the revs, my brain reckons the rev counter and engine sound mean I’m pressing the accelerator enough so I lift the clutch a little more, the software suddenly drops the extra revs and the car starts hopping. If you’re happy with yours now, maybe I need to go get mine updated,
  19. If you’re worried about formatting the card, just delete the ‘maps’ folder then replace it by unzipping the new download. It probably takes longer to delete the folder than to format the card but you don’t have to format it.
  20. My new SE L 150 TSI in black - yes, I know, but my previous car was black too and as long as you stayed more than 5 yards away you couldn't see the swirls. Had it a week but was waiting until it was wearing a ceramic coat before posting. Added the winter pack (bound to need heated seats and windscreen at some point), front parking sensors (tight spaces at work), sports steering wheel, ACC and 5 year warranty. SWMBO has driven it more than me, somehow her car developed a flat tyre followed later by a flat battery just as I brought this one home...suspicious!
  21. Dealers will be ordering demonstrators fairly frequently. I suspect that for my short build time, they swapped out one of their orders for mine (or reconfigured their existing order to my spec).
  22. Sounds like I got off lightly. Ordered 30th April, built 28th May, arrived in Emden 5th June, Grimsby 19th June, at dealer 28th June, collected 4th July. 65 days and the dealer texted every week with progress, can’t complain really. I can only guess that closing the VRS order books freed up some space on the production line.
  23. Clutch pedal dropped to the floor on my 2010 VRS CR and it turned out to be the bearing on the slave cylinder. Main cost was 5 hours labour removing and replacing the gearbox. While it was out they gave me the option of replacing the DMF which was showing signs of wear as that also needed the gearbox out.
  24. Mine had another symptom that something wasn’t right. Pulling away in 1st with a cold engine, I’d barely released the clutch, the pedal was an inch or two up off the floor and it’d engage 1st gear fully, much earlier than usual, and the car would surge forwards. It was only a couple of times a week so I just thought I’d forgotten how to drive. Thinking back that was probably happening for about 4 months before the pedal dropped.
  25. My 2010 VRS CR did this last year, clutch dropped but could be pulled back up. First time the RAC pumped some brake fluid into the reservoir which was enough to get it working and drivable to the garage. They diagnosed and replaced the master cylinder. It was fine for a week then dropped again, this time the RAC couldn’t get it working so towed the car back to the garage. This time they replaced the slave cylinder (got a full refund for the master) and said that “the bearing has gone”. No problems since then. Main cost was the 5 hours labour to remove and replace the gearbox in order to access the slave cylinder.
