  1. hi guys - just been looking at threads on how much fuel you can get in your tank and the reserve tank issue - iv`e come to the conclusion there is no such a thing as a reserve tank - its just one big tank - the top is contoured so when you fill up there is always an airlock as the end of the filler pipe is lower than the top of the tank - so in a warmer climate fuel expands and has somewhere to go - if however you wish to put more in , press the screw on the inside of the top in the filler pipe to release the air and you will be able to get more in - my question is bearing in mind what i have said what is the gross capacity of the tank - would love to know -
  2. have fabia 2001 and have just come across this issue of rear fog lights - 2 bulbs are fitted on both sides for fogs - them being P21/4 fog and tail - one grey wire feeds the offside fog but nothing for the opposite hand the fog terminal is not connected - so would not be able to switch on or off - although on newer models you maybe lucky and have that option - the only way as i see it is connect it up from the live side - for those who are more technicaly minded is this possible without blowing any relays or fuses -
  3. yes its a 51 - going by the pics if i get a redesigned one should be ok thx ap0gee
  4. smashing pics tom - if the bar has been redesigned like shown should be spot on -
  5. hi all - looking for original bar as plastic sleeves on bar have gone and bar tends to slide from left to right and catch on the subframe - tbh it dose not seem to be a very good design and will probably happen again somtime in the future even with a new bar - thought about useing powerflex bushes , would this be a better option - thx for the info lu , got car booked in next week
  6. need new front arb - plastic bushes fkd - anyone any ideas on price -
  7. hi andy - has a steering wheel popped up on your dash - if so , you`ll need to get it checked out - sounds like an overactive steering sensor - i know its a horrible feeling - steering feels very lose
  8. hi norman - listened to your link and yes - sounds like the starter motor - bendix drive is fkd - but if the chat means a really high pitched squeally noise i`d still go for a belt which is alot cheaper -
  9. 87k - sounds like a drive belt slipping somewhere - they dont last for ever - i`d try the simple things first
  10. hi lommox - had a look - looks like 63mm , ie box to throtle body - hope it helps -
  11. good price - on gearbox could be just something simple like if all other gears work - linkage needs ajusting or clutch not quite braking - ie., needs bleeding -
  12. petrol Vs diesel debate is pointless - the only advantages you got out of diesel was cheaper fuel and mpg - i`ve found with higher new cost prices , servicing costs and parts which can be double comparisons are errelevent - if you are a boy racer and want a rocket ship that goes like hell but costs the earth to run thats fine by me - until petrol reaches parity with diesel i would not even consider one -
  13. hi rock - on your steering column (which is adjustable ) there is situated a sensor ring which can activate your airbag warning light - try releasing and pulling your steering wheel up and down once or twice as dust can collect between the sensor and the column - might just make your little light disappear
  14. hi jimbell - seems you have a slight short or closed circuit somewhere that is exciting your speedo - why not disconnect your speedo drive and see if that makes any difference which are wire not cable these days - if your needle go`s dead as a door nail thats probably your man -
  15. hi mort - sorry to read about your misfortune , had this sort of thing myself - i`m afraid if it is too near the edge it means new tyre - have a browse at this- etyres - Free Repairable Area Tread Gauge : Is Your Puncture Repairable?
  16. sorry for the joke - if you are having problems with your rear arb , putting a towbar on the back wont make a scrap of difference - you do not say what issues you are having - if its sqweeks and knocks coming from that quarter , might just need the bushes changing taking that everything else is alright - they dont last for ever swapped mine over a few months back , no noises atall now - hope it all works out
  17. hi b1ackb1rd - hope you was`nt suggesting it might be better to have a towbar instead of an arb as it was cheaper - what the hell are you going to attach the rear wheels too - must be like the old song - :rock_band two wheels on my wagon and i`m still rolling along -
  18. well , is`nt it just great too be young - dont worry it`ll go down if you stay out of trouble fabia 1.4 8v fully comp - full N/C £150 paid last time - you tend to be a bit more careful as you get older
  19. hi jodie - dont forget to replace the oil filter too - and you will need a T50 torx key for the sump plug - also a chain wrench to get the old filter off with - torx keys are like allen keys only have a star shape on the ends , if you are lucky you may find a set of them in your local pound shop - its not a hard job to do , and i wish you all the best for 2008 :auto:
  20. hi furby - i agree with ap0gee - take the housing apart and have a look inside and see if any of the lugs have broken off that hold the thermostat in place - maybe some mates could help you who like playing with cars - its not a hard job - garages tend to pull the wool over peoples eyes if you are not that clued up - should get change out of £40 for a new one - if you are going to change the antifreeze use the pink long life , not the old cheap green stuff - hope it works out -
  21. glad everything came to a happy ending - i would undo the drain plug a little with a torx key and let some out - might be better than spending time and money going back to the dealers - plus you`ve got a little bit of spare oil -
  22. hi brad - had the same problem a while back - dealers will only replace all the locks and keys with new ones and will be expensive - keys are a specialist job these days - i take it you have a spare to get around - your key will have a 14 digit pin number and will be cut by lazer - VAG will be contacted and a new pin issued and programmed in so your spare and new key(s) will be compatable - making your lost key useless - got 2 new keys + spare for done £80 - try eyden locksmiths ltd based in coventry unless you have somone more local - hope it helps
  23. hi brad - had same sort of problem myself a while back - dealers will only put a new set of locks in your car and will be expensive - keys these days are a specialist job - i take it you have a spare to get you around - your key will have a 14 digit pin number and will be cut on a lazer - your pin will be canceled and a new one issued by VAG and programmed in making your lost key useless - i wouldnt bother waisting your money on ebay - you may have to travel but try eyden locksmiths ltd based in coventry unless you have somebody more local-
