  1. Hello @Jayjay1007, I got the kit working ok I believe. The finest misting nozzle I found (utilizing garden/watering nozzles) was a 0.4mm one. I also tried a 0.6mm and 0.8mm but I thought the droplet sizes were too big. I did a video of each nozzle working prior to installation in the car and found the the 'mist' from the 0.4mm nozzle 'hung' in the air much more while the 0.6mm and 0.8mm dropped under gravity sooner. You're probably aware that a finer mist will evaporate more quickly in the cylinder and therefore increase air density. One concern I had was that I was unsure if a significant portion of the mist (spray pattern) during operation within the intake pipe was hitting the sides of the pipe and running down and pooling in the intercooler. The reason I say this was that once after a few 'test' runs on a trip to my mums, I was turning at a junction and as I accelerated away I saw a big plume of pure white steam (though at first I thought it was smoke) in my rear view mirror. I feared I ran the risk of hydrolocking the engine and along with the fact that I didn't see any improvements in the 'feel' or in-gear acceleration times using my 'Torque' app I decided to abandon the project. I have now modified the system to fire a fine mist from 3 nozzles onto the intercooler. I used the principle described by Julian Edger on his YouTube channel to fire the mist forwards and allow the motion of the car to 'blow' the mist back into the intercooler. Apparently Mr Edger has had greater success using this method over directly 'squirting' at the intercooler as the mist evaporates more quickly off the cooling vanes resulting in greater efficiency and lower intake temps. That's for another day though If you're interested in this option as well, I suggest you watch Julian's video: In terms of your requirements, I suspect it will allow you to run the timing you desire
  2. Mmm, another weight-saving opportunity for me to consider..........
  3. I've been running Avon ZZ5s since August and for the price I find them a good alternative to the Conti Sport 3s that I had on previously.... seem less 'slippy' in the wet and clinging to roundabouts in the dry is pretty good. Though it's all subjective I guess. Their sidewall rim protection is a little more substantial when compared to the Sport 3s. In 'grandad' drive mode on my usual weekly trawl to Hemsworth & back (Leeds), I do seem to have dropped slightly in mpg though...... going from high 60s on the Sport 3s to around 63mpg at best now. I know it's a shallow comment to make but I do like the look of the ZZ5s "Check out my sexy boots!!!" LOL
  4. Nah, just a cheapo off ebay that I had to cut the counter-weight off. I'm also considering diverting part of the DIY water/meth system to spray onto the intercooler. Try and hit the cold air density solution from both angles LOL
  5. DPF been running fine, I regularly travel 60 miles total per week on't M62 so I guess it gets a good dose of burning up the soot I did run a DIY water/meth system for a few weeks [see images] after months of development starting at beginning of 2018. Not sure I was getting any performance increase but I felt good inside knowing that I was knocking the miles off the EGR, valves, piston crowns & turbo vanes I might reinstall it now the zorst has been done. I believe Darkside's 1.6TDi Golf 'only' achieved an extra 20hp with a 'proper' water/meth system so anything my ad-hoc system could achieve would be limited I guess. I've been looking at Nitrous but after talking to Darkside and Bluespark for advice, it seems only a remap for extra fuelling would be the most suitable option to extract the most out off NOS. A part of me hopes that a meth system could provide the extra fuelling required though. Then I could naively have my DIY water/meth system linked to a Nitrous system (both activated with the same boost switch). ONLY issue with my water/meth system is that it's a 'stealth' install that utilises the current windscreen washer bottle and so I can't run more than 50/50 water/meth ratio otherwise a fire risk is possible. For NOS, I'd probably need 100% methanol. I'll ponder the options further over winter LOL btw, I've also activated 'needle sweep' thanks to OBD2 module and app and also fitted a short-shifter to
  6. Hi MontyETME, just a thought I'd chime in You could try the £280 Bluespark Automotive 'Pro + Boost' tuning module. Easily removable if returning to 'stock' at a later date is required? Not as much power from something like a Darkside remap but maybe worth considering if you have the 105TDi as a starting point? If you have a lesser powered version then a remap would be a much better option. I've had a Bluespark module on since March 2017 and I've never had any issues with it. They claim around 132hp on the max settings and the car does feel like that's what I'm getting I've since installed a K&N cotton air filter and bigger intake charge pipe (though it's an Audi A1 1.4 TFSI pipe [see image] as oppose to the Fabia VRS version) and I've cut out the restrictive baffles in the intake snorkel to. A confirmed Fiesta ST-Line killer at this point LOL but I've now had a Darkside custom straight-thru cat back stainless zorst fitted in October and it defo feels like an extra 10-15hp has been unleashed. Still quite quiet with only an occasional 'drone' sound when the atmospheric conditions align. Running low 8s now on the 0-62 dash as oppose to high 8s prior (data from 'Torque' app linked to OBD2 module). Anyhoo, food for thought TTFN, EggMeister
  7. I agree, prior to the zorst upgrade I could sometimes nudge 80mpg on the trip computer (in super grandad-stylee mode) on the 50 mile round trip to my mums (M1 from Leeds, M62, then cross-country from Normanton/Castleford junction to Hemsworth). I'm lucky if I hit 65mpg now....... not that I'm really bothered though, the extra oomph more than makes up for it :)
  8. That engine bay looks a bit cleaner compared to when I saw it at Darkside ;) What's the spec on the red one matey? btw, I've been toying for a while about doing something similar with the engine cover; looks really nice in red :)
  9. Ahh, so yours will be louder still then without the dpf and cat. I don't think mine has a traction control button, it'll wheelspin quite easy once rolling a little bit and the ecu kindly allows max revs. Looking at your vids, I have a different dash/dials to yours as well.
  10. Hi amd87, Apologies for the forthcoming dent in your bank balance lol. To be honest, I don't think it's much louder than stock. A slight burble but not really any louder. I wanted the extra power from removing the back box rather than any noise gains. There's a noticeable increase in throttle response and acceleration, even the missus can tell a difference. Have you seen the video response I posted today to Sean Smith's comment about hearing the sound on Darksides fb posting? You'll be able to gauge it for yourself You could also find it as the latest upload on my YouTube channel. TeamEggmotor.
  11. Hiya AMD87, This is spooky, I was at Darkside yesterday to have a new stainless zorst fitted (2.5", straight-thru, discreet tip). I spoke to Lee when I went to pick up the Fabia and we briefly talked about water/meth. He mentioned the 20hp increase on the Golf too I've now ditched the DIY kit and will probably get a Snow kit in the future. I'm eagerly waiting to see what the new Banks Power kits will be like, the web site states the kits will be available from the end of this year. The zorst is amazing, driving back to Leeds yesterday afternoon I could notice the improved throttle response and acceleration, no doubt due in part to the back-box delete. I'll add a few pics plus Lee gave me 3 stickers so I've proudly added them this afternoon to the C pillars and boot Thanks for your response, Robster p.s. btw, I've also fitted an Audi A1 1.4 TSFI intake charge pipe for 20 quid. I guess similar to the VRS one. Much wider opening and no constrictive portion immediately after the snorkel attachment like there is on the stock one.
  12. UPDATE: I'm still running with the 0.4mm nozzle/jet and I'm still not 100% there's any defo improvement. Roughly guessing here but I think I'm probably only using about 200ml per minute and so I've ordered a 120psi pump (same make as the 80psi one currently fitted) which i think will be the maximum safe pressure for my dodgy adhoc set up. It's nice to hear the pump briefly re-pressurize up to the 80psi level at the nozzle with a satisfying loud BBRRRPPP!!! for a second or two when I activate it for the first time after a day or so. It makes the pedestrians look around anyway I'll keep you in the loop guys Perhaps I might try NOS afterall.........
  13. Hi All, I spotted this last year just outside Featherstone on the way to Wakey. Surely the drive is aware he/she is giving everyone a good giggle??? A1 NUS
