  1. Thanks for everyone for your input into this. I sourced a replacement screen (Thanks to @pab567for confirming the part number) from a breakers on eBay, along with a set of removal keys. 5 minute job to pop off the dodgy screen and replace it with the new one. Now the touch screen works as it should. Total cost about £100, in comparison to the dealer wanting £950 (!) for the job.
  2. Oh, and I thought of another one: Any particular recommendation on which removal keys are required for this unit?
  3. Thanks for all this help. Is there any coding to be aware of if replacing the display unit? (But keeping the same glove box unit?)
  4. The car is at the dealer so I can't easily get the software version right now (I will ask them shortly), but here's a picture of the unit to help with identification. T
  5. Hey all, My infotainment screen has gone the way of the ghost: As others have posted here before, it is the symptom where it doesn't respond to touch, or it 'touches itself' randomly. Sets in during the colder months. I now want to get this repaired prior to selling the car. I'm after advice on this, and estimates. My local Skoda dealer in the UK wants £250 for a 'software update' (which I doubt will solve the issue - but curious for opinions), or £900 (!) for a new screen. Thoughts? Thanks all!
  6. HI @Kenny R Your first sentence sums it up: It's when the order should go into Skoda themselves. This is what I've had zero confirmation on, and no response from the dealer. No ETA on delivery date. So, I totally know that build times are really up in the air due to the current supply issues. What I'm unhappy about is the dealer sandbagging actually making the order. I'll give them another day but then will exercise 14 day cancellation rights and go to a different dealer (and poll on here for recommendations for those that have better comms).
  7. Hi, Bit unimpressed with my local dealer so far so wanted to sense check. Have placed an order with them, but everything in the process is so slow. From the manager calling to sort the finance check, to... well... not sure, as it's now gone quiet again, so I have no idea if the dealer has actually placed the order with Skoda yet. It's been over a week since agreeing the spec, pricing etc. Is this standard or other dealers a bit more responsive with making things happen?
  8. Hi everyone, Looking into ordering soon (60). Obviously, am aware of the horrendous uncertainty on delivery times. We're thinking of the PCP route at this time, and therefore is anyone aware of any particularly good deals on this right now? In opening rounds with dealers at the moment, and certainly no incentives whatsoever being offered at the moment by default to go down the finance route....
  9. The ‘hilarious’ point here is that my dealer had the exact same offer and price pinned up next to the service desk.
  10. Hi, Have a NextBase camera. Have the hard-wiring kit ready to go, so 'all' that needs doing is to route the wires into the glove box under the fascia etc. Quote from my nearest main Skoda dealer? £336 for hidden wires. £134 for non-hidden wires (as in, just plugging one end of a cable into the fuse box). That is probably a record.
  11. Great, thank you :-) SmartLink is the main thing for me at the moment, so good to have a guideline in case a dealer tries it on (!)
  12. It's definitely a 1.0. Also: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/octavia/95904/new-skoda-octavia-10-tsi-2016-review Unless I'm missing something really obvious (?)
  13. Hi, I finally picked up an Octavia of the engine size / spec I was after (2nd hand). Grabbed a 2016 1.0 SE which I am very happy with so far, especially getting 50 MPG driving it back home without particularly trying. I have two questions. I've found some older answers on here but would appreciate some up to date answers, just in case something has changed (especially re: pricing). 1. CRUISE CONTROL: I understand I can get cruise control added by 'just' having the CC stalk added. I currently don't have this, and the non-multifunction steering wheel. Is this correct, and what price should I expect? 2. SMARTLINK: It's not activated at the moment. What is the ballpark activation fee if I take it into a Skoda dealer? On that, I mostly use Waze on my iPhone so would appreciate any feedback on how well that works. Thanks!
  14. I've got my quote through. Current lead time is 25 weeks (!)
