  1. Hi Chris, Thanks for the explanation, my car also indulges in kidology with the infotainment system saying it's in ECO, when the car reverts to Normal mode. Has anyone a view of how much you save in ECO mode? Initially I though about 5mpg, but more recently there seems to be little difference to driving 'light footed' in Normal mode. In ECO mode I average 45 mpg in mixed driving, on long runs 50 mpg, sometimes a little more. All the best Colin
  2. Hi I found another topic on the forum, which seems to suggest that the car always reverts to normal, as that mode generates the least nasty emissions ! Personally I would have thought that ECO mode would be the best, rather than Normal mode. All the best Colin
  3. Hi I bought my Karoq new in 2018. a 1.5 TSI DSG model. It has always had this small but annoying issue. If I select 'ECO' driving mode on the infotainment system, after first starting the car, all is well, it runs perfectly in ECO mode until the ignition is switched off. When restarting the car, the infotainment systems says it's in ECO, but actually it isn't! The screen between rev counter and speedo shows that the car is in standard drive, i.e. in Normal Drive mode. For example the engine does not idle when coasting which it does in ECO mode. If I go back and reselect ECO on the infotainment screen all is well again, the car drives in ECO mode. Same thing occurs on any driving mode other than Normal, essentially the car always selects Normal mode at start-up. Is this normal for the Karoq (probably other Skoda DSG models as well) or am I missing something? All the best Colin
  4. Hi all, many thanks for the information. All the best Colin
  5. Hi I have a 2018 SEL with a few small stone chips on the Silver alloys. Skoda parts told me no touch up paint was available ! Any one had any experience, or able to recommend a source/colour etc. ? All the best Colin
  6. Hi On my Karoq the front sidelights (parking lights) are on whilst driving whilst the rear lights are not. This seems very odd, I would have expected both front and rear lights to be on when driving, as is the case with most cars. The only way to get the rear lights on is to select 'Sidelights' or 'Headlights' on the main lighting switch (or of course Auto if it's dark enough). There does not seem to be any option on the Infotainment system to control this. Is this normal ? All the best Colin
  7. This topic has been really helpful, got a new Nextbase 312GW fitted in an hour and a half (could be much quicker but took my time not wishing to mark a 4 day old car!). Releasing the glovebox not easy if you have big hands !! I used a Nextbase Hardwire Fitting Kit, which comes with everything you need. I, like John in first post, piggy backed onto fuse 47 (rear wiper). This 15 amp fuse was sat more or less on its on in my car, so easy to fit the piggy back. I used double sided car trim self adhesive tape to stick the actual small power adapter unit onto part of the air ducting to the right of the fusebox. I also used some small cable ties to secure the wiring to the ventilation fan lugs, just to guard against rattles etc. I tested everything before closing up the glove box again, and before threading the cable up to the dashcam position. Photos below show the overall arrangement, and some detail. I ran the cable under the trim below the glove box, up under the rubber door seal, then under the edge of the A pillar trim, exactly as described earlier. The cable a tight fit in some places. I used a small blunt steel scraper well protected in a cotton cloth, to (carefully !!) push the cable down where necessary. You could obviously also use a plastic car trim tool for the job.
