  1. Hi guys After some service g advice. I have had my 15plate for nearly 2 years. Bought it at 37k miles and the dealer did a service and gear box oil change. 1 year later it had another service. Coming up to another year and I have a low oil light. And a dash warning came up oil change in 900m This works out probably 10-12k a year servicing. I have read things about long 2 year servicing is this a thing for this car and my mileage, Just wanting to know how often you are meant to service it rather than been stuck on some warning light schedule which was probably set by the dealer.
  2. Not sure how but think I managed it. Just set all the positions 1 2 and 3 to the same seat setting on one key. Applied a different seat setting to the other key using 1 2 3 again and flicked the setting on the settings for "chairs" to key use. And it seems to have worked. For future ref does anyone know if it will just basically revert to setting 1 when opening the door
  3. Hi guys. Just purchased a 15 plate Octavia hatch VRS. No sure how set the seat memory to a key ??? i have opened car turned key once press set and number one. Heard a bong so left vehicle and locked. Tried same same again in a different seat position with different key. But i can't get it so I unlock the car and the seats move to the position with either key fob ?? can someone please walk me through this. My wife has her seat about 25ft further forward so this is required for me
  4. Nice did you manage to get it at a good budget and mileage ? Also got told they need a service on the dsg gearbox
  5. Still looking at purchasing really. Can you change up and down with the paddles like ? What colour did you get. Hatch or estate ?
  6. How have you been getting on with it then ? Did you have a dsg prior ?
  7. Standard servicing costs are the same for minor service at Audi. Major Is £30 more. Tax is the same roughly. Iv drove both and the wife. Got 2 kids seats and a 10 year old. I think the Octavia was slightly bigger in the bar for legroom for the eldest. But the boot is a huuuge difference on the Octavia over Audi. May be diff for manual. But we want auto. And a 15 plate s line. Is the price of a VRS. If not generally lower mileage which is what has surprised me
  8. That's true scott. The car I want is the s line however boot wise the Octavia is better for the family. Bother really nice cars But knowing they are the same price The Audi has more toys. and knowing the Octavia potentially 4K more depreciated in say 4 years has changed my decision from head over heart. To now just really confused lol.
  9. Yea but you can use auto trader to gather a cars value though. I.e. 15 plates Octavia VRS. From there your going to know what the price is ??
  10. Looking at buying a 15 plate VRS. Diesel hatch around £14500. Dsg low miles. But I Was shocked to find the price of these cars with mileage is identical to an Audi A4 s line dsg. For me the Octavia is more suited with 3 kids howver far less refined and less toys over the Audi. slightly worried about depreciation. Looked at 2011-12 plate a4 s lines which seem to still hold around £12500. Howver i I have found that the shape of the 15 plate Octavia VRS came out 2013. So can't really compare other than a 2011 reg Octavia which looks very similar to me however now quite as new/ refined. But these alarmingly seem to be around 8-9k. Really interested in the octavia however if the £15000 price tag is only worth around 8-9k in 4 years I would be inclined to steer well clear. I was hoping they would hold the value a lot better as I was surprised the 15plate octy goes for around £15000 in the first place. Anyone think they should hold the value and maybe it's abit unfair comparing it to the pre 13 shape ? Thoughts would be great.
  11. Hi guys new here basically owned a mondeo st tdci 06 for nearly 8year great car had during owning for family size boot mpg and (bit of power). Sold the car as as it was too old and had to go sadly. Have 3 kids an a wife so my criteria for a new car was space. But it (must be an auto) But nothing too big as the wife doesn't like huge cars nor do I (7searer style). Looking at 14- new plate cars no more than £15000 after looking at a 5 series sadly altho huuuuuuge the rear seats are tiiiiiiny for 3 kids (2kid chairs) llooked at an a4 s line 16 plate . Kids fit ok I spose however it did feel smallish and obviously a smallish boot as it's a saloon. Drove a golf gtd 15 plate. Felt great largishish rear however boot small. So so yesterday I looked at an Octavia VRS dsg 15 plate. Only got a 2 min drive as it had no fuel so didn't really get too much of a feel. Is is there anything I should look out for on these cars. Any common problems ect. It had memory seats. I love the size of the car and going for a proper drive today. Slightly disappointed personally that it's the same price second hand as the previous cars which seem to be bettter built inside and come with more luxuries / toys. But I'm guessing the Octavia is cheaper for servicing / parts? On paper the Octavia is probably as close to the mondeo as any car for size performance space and boot opening. So for my proper drive today anyone got anything to watch out for altho it's only done about 30000k miles on a 15 plate. Many advice / info would be great though thanks guys Andy
