  1. Sorry chaps, things have been pretty mad this end!! So to cut a long story short I got my money back all but £300 of the purchase price on the 15th November!!! I am sure if I had toughed it out I could have got it all back but couldn't afford to keep running the Audi any longer. So overall it probably cost me about £1000-£1200 in total losses inc skoda test, insurance changes ect ect. I ended up getting a Mazda 6 Sport Nav Estate late 2015, which so far I have been very pleased with! I wish everyone else luck with there issues. Paul
  2. No real smoke from the exhaust, no issues with performance. Dealer is refusing to refund my money, he offered a replacement/reconditioned engine or buy it back at trade! I am just about to send him a final notice before I take him to court and contact trading standards and trade bodies. I did drop in that my future son in law works on Watchdog! Progress Skoda oil consumption.pdf
  3. The results are in!!!!! Skoda allowable oil usage 0.5lt per 1000km My oil usage 2.3lt per 1000km The dealer is now being a complete arse and refusing to refund me, coming up with all sorts of crap to try to avoid paying out. He finally offered me a reconditioned engine or buy it back at trade as a gesture of goodwill. Just about to send them a letter before action and start work on my claim. I have been nothing but fair and done everything they have asked at my cost, so its gloves off time!
  4. I spoke to Trading Standards and Citizens Advice and it is up to me to prove a fault apparently. The car is with Skoda at the moment and I will know the results of the oil consumption test tomorrow morning. Assuming it fails, i have arranged transport back from the garage tomorrow as I don't want to insure it for another week!! If it doesn't fail........
  5. They want Skoda to do a consumption test, so i cannot see how they think there is no fault if they have not done one? I cannot afford to swap my insurance again to get it to a dealer then pay the £200 for the test. I obviously want a completely independent test, and not done by a garage they have a relationship with.
  6. Well I chased them yesterday morning and they say they cannot find a fault with it! Not sure what to do now? Anybody had any experience of returning a car within the 30 day? They say the will not offer me a refund, but it is my decision. Not sure where I stand legally as I did not have time before the 30 days was up to get an official Skoda consumption test.
  7. Sorry been busy looking at other cars and dealing with 9 week old Lab puppy. They took it back, accepted it was within the 30 days. The owner of the garage was away but he is back next week and will call me to arrange the refund. All very pleasant to be honest, but let's wait either until I get the money.
  8. They have acknowledged the email, they want to confirm that there is actually a fault rather that me just not wanting it. If they admit any fault then I that's it job done.
  9. I sent the letter via email this morning, I replaced unroadworthy with unsatisfactory quality. I told them i would return it tomorrow as the 30 days runs out on the 28th. Lets see where w go from here! Thanks once again for all the support and comments, absolutely gutted as the car is perfect for what I need. I even updated the maps! lol
  10. They now want to look at the car before doing a refund. I am worried they will **** about until after the 30 days or just bodge it somehow! I am tempted to get Skoda to do the test and just dump it with them.
  11. He said he would talk to Skoda as it was normally done for free!!! I said I don't care I am returning it Saturday for a refund.
  12. Thanks for the replies chaps, as I suspected. I have sent them another email saying I want a refund again, I will just return it Saturday and if they don't refund me I will go straight to the small claims court. It is a Skoda Superb 1.8TFSI Elegance estate AX11HCD in Maroon, from Kiteley motors in Stanstead. It has done 74,000.
  13. Thanks for the replies, as I thought. I have asked again for a refund. I will just take it back Saturday and demand a refund, if i don't get it I will go to the small claims court straight away. It is a Skoda Superb 1.8 TFSI Elegance estate in Maroon reg AX11HCD bought from Kiteley motors in Stanstead. Absolutely, they previous owner had the mecatronic unit, clutch and water pump replaced under warranty. They probably would cover the oil loss so moved it on.
  14. I just purchased a 2011 Superb estate 1.8 from an independent dealer. Took the RAC Warranty out as well. The oil light came on after a few days so I topped it up to max. Checked after 600miles and it was below minimum, so topped it up again! Did another couple of hundred miles and down to Minimum. Went to an RAC approved garage and they told me there was a 90% chance that it wouldn't be covered by the warranty when they had spoken to the RAC. And I would have to pay for it to be strippted down and inspected by the RAC before they would decide. Contacted the dealer and said I wanted to return it for a refund under the Consumer Credit Act as I was within the 30 days and it was not of sufficient quality. They have replied today stating if I get get Skoda to do a consumption test and it is the engine Skoda will repair it free of charge. Having spoken to my nearest dealer they said this is not the case and I would have to pay £200ish for the consumption test and if it is the engine I would have to pay! Has anyone else tried to get their pistons replaced through a main dealer? I know it is a known issue but my car is 7 years old. I think if it under 6 years you may have a case! Any advice welcome Paul
  15. Hi All, I have just got a 2011 Superb with a Columbus head unit. After doing some research I cannot quite get my head around if the version of firmware and Map software is updateable? The info i have is 3T0035680B HW H75 SW 5274 Map Version 8195 The hardware seems old but the firmware and software seem relatively new (as they can be for that unit) Is it worth doing a firmware and maps upgrade? Paul
  16. Hi, I have just acquired a 2011 Superb estate 1.8TSI, full history inc gearbox rebuild and water pump. After an Audi A6 Allroad this drives like a dream! Paul
