Hi all! I've recently picked up a 2005 Octavia VRS MK2 with the 2.0 petrol. I've done various bits to it already as it was reasonably ropey, but I've been struggling with a coolant leak. After jacking it up today following a warm run it appears to be coming from the water pump down the left side of the engine (if you're stood in front of the car) and there is some pinkish build-up around the pump too so I'm fairly confident this is where it is leaking from. The car is a weekend project so doesn't need to be used daily. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this at home & would recommend it DIY?! I've got most tools required and have done a fair chunk of driveway repairs, but never anything quite so major. Failing that, does anyone have any good recommendations for any specialists in Cornwall? I've already spent a good chunk of the initial price of the car in repairs & maintenance so something reasonable price would be preferred. Thanks in advance!
