  1. Sorry Guys but white is the way forward...
  2. Don't think it looks chavvy - with a chrome grille surround reckon it would look quite classy...
  3. DPF sensor on the blink again (3rd time in 2.5 yrs). Burn cycle not being initiated. But dealer won't take my word for it... Sick of the car so much It's been sitting in the work car park for the last 2 weeks while I tool around in a company BMW 320D M-Sport. I'm leaving my vRS there as long as possible while I perfect my power sliding!! Wont be having another vRS D that's for sure. A real shame as the rest of the car's great - and quicker than the 320D despite being a few BHP down.
  4. Saw a black vRS Estate on the M23 a couple of weeks back. They've also been running a blue Mazda 3 MPS and a silver Focus ST. Tough to spot...
  5. Do we think the Fabia vRS is finished spec. Looks pretty production ready to me. Any ideas what was under the bonnet? You've probably been asked a thousand times. Just interested. Shame there was no superb estate - or was there and it didn't warrant a pic??
  6. I'm interested in the Fuchs - please just confirm it's the 507 I need for my vRS diesel? I think it is. How do we order - via your website?
  7. Great - all very interesting. What's the best one to go for in the dipped beam though? I want the best combination of improved light and longlife.
  8. Good educational piece - I'm not an avid reader of user manuals and on reading about the DPF light in the manual - my take out was that the soot was burned off at over 60mph - fine when you're near a motorway but not easy to achieve on B roads. I don't ever remember reading about the 2-2500 rpm sweet spot. Perhaps the manual in later versions has been revised with more detail. In my case it made f-all difference since the issue was with the DPF sensor not working properly and not initiating the burn. I guess dealers and SUK are a lot more gen-ed up these days - but my dealer at the time took 3 attempts to fix it - even replacing a faulty sensor with another faulty sensor. Hope this is the first and last experience you have with the DPF...
  9. Have seen pictures of a white scout now... looks like could be the next choice. I also watched a you tube video of a couple of nutters in the mountains in the snow doing some pretty amazing things off road given they were driving a scout and an early A6 allroad. Must have had AT / winter tyres but still - pretty cool nonetheless...
  10. think it also depends on exterior colour (& whether you have kids) mine periodically destroy the inside of my car...
  11. I think it looks cool. That would be my first choice of colour... looks great dirty too - I want one
  12. Interesting - I posted about the temp in my vRS soon after I first got it - but was basically told I was an idiot.... Probably true. I have also noticed lame footwell temp and general poor responsiveness to heating up and cooling down. Perhaps I should get my dealer to look at the temp vent sensor you describe above. Problem I've found from my DPF sensor is that the dealer won't do anything until it's been in a couple of times to show you're really serious about the problem!! It took me 3 visits of having my car taken for a rapid drive by my dealer in an attempt to get the car to burn off the soot itself - before they were convinced enough to replace the sensor. With it being a company car not sure I can face the hassle of going through this again. Think it's time for a dealer change - having seen Allam's in Epsom was running an open day yesterday and taking customer service more seriously (great initiative James) I will be going to them for my next service.
  13. I'm 6 3 so am encouraged by this comment. Am considering a Scout for my next car and have found several cars in the past with seat squabs that are too short for my long legs. I do think you've made the right decision though - there's nothing worse than not being able to get comfortable in a car. I find I cant get comfortable in my vRS no matter how much I fiddle with the set-up - v. frustrating. Sharing the car with my wife means I have to change every adjustment everytime I get back into it after she's been in it. Typically she moves everything even for short journeys!! Perhaps she finds she can't get comfortable either - must ask her! Anyone else find it difficult to get a good seating position in their MK2 vRS?
  14. Think it would make a great colour combo. Thinking of replacing my vRS with one. Anyone got one or pics of one?
  15. September's probably doable. Can delay the lease company by faffing choosing replacement. Think if 2.0CR is available in facelifted scout would be the one to go for. I like the idea of the new Superb Combi - the early pics I saw make it look better than the saloon - better proportioned. But think that the estate premium - likely to be at least 1000 quid if not more will take a mid spec one out of my price range. frustratingly. Would have gone for an L&K est if the price was more reasonable. My previous L&K MK1 est was 17.5K - you're looking at around 21 for the MK2 equivalent. I know i should go for a Mondeo for space/value but can't bring myself to becoming a mondeo-man!!
  16. Looks pretty tidy and interior good - but there's little disguising that this is the previous gen Audi is there? Not that that bothers me too much - if the cars built and drives well and properly priced it could make the short list. Looking forward to seeing the spec and price list. Am currently coming down on the side of the Scout though. The extra kit over the 4x4 for an extra grand is worth it + fitting Xenons to the pre-facelift Mk2 is 150 quid cheaper too. Does anyone know if because the exterior upgrades aren't making their way onto the vRS or Scout whether the interior upgrades will be transferred? Still no nearer to deciding on potential colour though. I think it needs to be a light colour to contrast with the bumpers and body kit - I've seen silver, red, grey, black and blue ones in pictures but would really like to see a picture of one in white or the new alpine green colour. If anyone has any would appreciate it.
  17. Hadn't thought of the new Exeo - is it out yet? Anyone got any experience. Isn't it based on the Passat?
  18. True but why would I be posting the wider range on a Skoda forum.... do you really want the rest of the list?? I could go into the conversation I'm having with my wife about buying an MPV :thumbdwn: - no thank you... Maybe I should have asked the wider question: - I want the largest estate car I can get for less than 20K. - Needs to have pretty high spec - esp xenons and cruise, leather desirable but not a deal breaker. - Needs to be quick enough and comfortable - less than 9 secs to 60 and flexible enough to surge from 80-100mph for x continental cruising. - I spend 3 months a year in the Alps so 4WD would be great. - I think the Mondeo ticks many of the boxes but I can't bring myself to buy a Mondeo - don't know why - The legacy could also fit the bill but not a big fan of Subaru's and not sure the boot is up to Octavia standards. Anyway have some time to decide so am open to suggestions...
  19. I'm currently driving an Octy 2 VRS 170PD - its OK but amazingly not as good as the Octy 1 L&K 130PD I had before it. Clearly I'm turning into an old man. Although I love the pace and torque of the vRS, I'm tiring of the stiff ride (even on 17ins) and constant steering adjustments on the motorway. I've also had 2 punctures from driving over potholes - although this could just be bad luck (bad driving). I've also had a long list of niggles with it - delivered with suspension packing still in, peeling alloys, loose engine cover, misaligned offside doors, intermittent cruise control, several visits to the dealer with DPF and exhaust pressure sensor problems. So... I'm considering a wider range of options for my next company car: - Superb 2 SE 1.8T DSG or 170CR - Octavia 2 1.8T 4x4 - Scout 1.8T I need some advice & insider knowledge. I've seen a Superb estate could be in the offing for 2009 - any one know any more? If one is going to be launched it could jump to the top of my list - providing an mid spec with a decent engine is priced the right side of 20K. I'm also quite keen on a Scout but am concerned about the emissions on the 1.8T - but don't want a 140 PD engine - any one know when /if the CR one is going to or even can be installed in it? I'm also not sure what colour to go for. There aren't many about so have only seen a couple of colour combinations. If anyone has any pics or advice would be great. The other option could be to spec up a 1.8T 4x4 e.g. adding Xenons etc. Let me know your thoughts...
  20. OK - thanks for the info guys. Already had a replacement exhaust pressure sensor about 6 months ago with no recurrence of DPF light since - so I'm going to leave it for now. Cheers, CJ
  21. My vRS 170PD went for service on Monday. I was told the engine management software needs updating with a CD and that a part needed to be fitted. Any idea what it's for and how crucial it is? I'm off on hols on Friday so need to know if I need to get it done quick or not. Funny thing is the car has been running fantastically for the last 2-3K so I'm a bit wary about fixing what doesn't appear to be broken ahead of a big trip across Europe. Thoughts?
  22. Ahh - I got a message from my dealer that my vRS PD170 needs a engine management software upgrade - what could this be for? and how urgent could it be? Mights start a new thread for this question....
  23. Reason I ask is I dropped the offside into the worlds biggest pot hole - blowing the front tyre in the process and triggering the TPM. Got the tyre changed no problem but the TPM has tripped a couple of times since resetting. My understanding was that the TPM measures the rolling circumference (could be wrong on this) - so was concerned I've damaged the alloy. Thoughts?
  24. My car needs the ECu upgrade but I'm going on holiday at the end of the week. Mine's factory standard but is there still a risk of losing the 170BHP and have it revert to std 140? Friend of mine had this issue with her A4 - but hers was a dealer fit upgrade. If there's any risk I'll drag my feet till I get back - don't want to drive 2000 miles with less performance. Reading the thread it doesn't seem that this is an urgent piece of work - not even sure what a CEL light is...
