  1. My MY18 is much better than before the update but not totally cured of the engine dying when moving off problem. Previously it happened every time if the revs were below 2k. Now it’s intermittent. Sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes it does. Still not done 600 miles since the update as advised so can’t really go back yet.
  2. 150 mile update. Engine dying when moving off is much improved but not totally cured. Moving off uphill yesterday and engine died dramatically. First time it’s done that since the update. I’m making a conscious effort to keep the revs at about 1200-1500 to assess the update. Before the software update, I’d modified my driving style to keep the revs above 2K when moving off. I agree with an earlier post in that I’ve noticed an improvement in fuel consumption on my regular commute. 37-38 before the update, 41-42 since over exactly the same journey. 450 miles to go to see if it really has done the trick.
  3. No me neither. Not holding my breath.
  4. Better but not perfect. Not much choice but to wait until 600 miles covered as per advice. Not holding my breath. Not sure I believe all this 600 mile thing. How does it “learn” if there are multiple drivers. Incidence of engine dying improved but not quite right yet. We shall see.
  5. 100% agree. Mine was the first 1.5 manual delivered by my dealership and after their initial resistance and blame game, they've been ok. Had the fix now which has improved the engine dying thing but not yet eradicated it totally so still not fully satisfied. Hopefully I will be in another 560 miles or so.
  6. The engine dying when moving off isn’t as bad as it was before the update. Still there but not as pronounced. Hopefully the “running in” period will eradicate it completely.
  7. Mine is definitely better since the update but it hasn’t totally cured it so far. I was advised it would take up to 600 miles to be fully effective. I’m sceptical but can’t do any more until that mileage has been done. Problem is I only do 250 miles a month.
  8. Yes cold or hot like many others in this forum. No other faults apparent so I’ll see what happens over the next 600 miles.
  9. My MY 18 manual had it’s update yesterday after which I took it out for a run. I found that the engine dying suddenly when moving off wasn't totally eradicated but was not as evident as it had been previously. My only concern is that the engine was still warm after being road tested by the dealership. A better test will be later this morning when the engine will be started from cold. The dealership advice was that it will take 600 miles for the update to become fully effective but I’ll post an update of my findings later.
  10. As I sit writing this post, my MY18 Karoq 1.5tsi manual is right now having a software upgrade at Rainworth Skoda. (no mention of “fix”) I’m advised I’ll have to run it for 600 miles to see whether or not it’s been effective. We shall see. Anyone else had the same upgrade and advice?
  11. Oh yes! A characteristic!! Of course. I’d forgotten about that.
  12. I wonder why????? Maybe they’ve found something they don’t like for example, the engine dying when moving off or it having developed marsupial tendencies. After all, the engine has only been around two years!!
  13. Which model year is you car? I’ve also gone direct to Skoda but still waiting for a fix for my MY18. My issue is engine dying when moving off. Not so much the kangarooing.
  14. They told me that 11 months ago when I first complained. How does the car "learn" driving styles when there are multiple drivers? Just one of the deflection tactics I believe as is "it's a characteristic of the vehicle" What really frustrates me is that there seems to be no common response from VW/Skoda/dealers. They know the owners/keepers of affected vehicles so why haven't they contacted us all to explain exactly what is happening, why and what is being done to remedy the situation. First were told April, then another two months and they have almost gone with no apparent sign of a fix. Customer service at its worst!!! I bet they'd soon be writing if a payment was missed.
  15. When was your car manufactured? Mine was May 18 and still waiting.
