  1. Hello Guys, I have a 2002 Octavia 1.8T AGU Engine. I was driving yesterday and sudenly the engine begins to shake and misfiring. I was close to my house so I go back. Other thing is that when I start the engine with the door open, I can fill a strong fuel odor. Check with VCDS LITE(not registeret)for trouble codes and this is what I got 01165 - Throttle Body Control Module (J338) 17-10 - Control Difference - Intermittent I havent: Disconected the car batery Play with the VCDS LITE Cleaned the throttle body or do it a adaptation. I just hook the OBD Conector and check for the trouble code and decide to come here to post the problem. What can be the problem? Any advise? THX Isaac
  2. Hello Guys, I hope this info help any of you if you have a similar symptom I have a 2002 Octavia 1.8T AGU code engine. TMBAL41U928549 Yesterday I was feeling that the engine was misfiring, shaking at idle and the brakes also feel strange, I need to push harder in order to brake. When open the hood, I was hear a strong hissing air noise. I found a PCV Pipe that goes under the intake manifold broke. This Pipe goes attached to the brake booster pipe that's provide vacuum to the Brake Booster. Since it was loosing vacuum pressure that's was the problem I was to push harder in order to brake I fixed with strong tape and the engine misfiring/shake problem goes away and the brakes work well. I need your help guys, can you help me with this pipe part number? Pipe is the one with the red arrow. This is not a rubber hose, is a hard plastic pipe and I will need the part number to order on ebay. Thank you for your help Isaac
  3. Hey KenONeil, Thx for your help. Does spark plugs are almost new. I installed 10,000 kms ago BUT I am going to remove the spark plug to check it. I will check the plugs wire and see what I found. THX, Isaac

  5. Hello Guys, I really appreciated your help. Cars is a 2002 Octavia 1.6L petrol engine with only 70,000kms Just yesterday, when I started the engine in the morning it misfires stumble/hesitate and can fill a small shake in the engine, sometimes fill like a hiccup at idle. If the AC is on, the problem is a little more worst. This was at my building garage, I was having my door open and I can fill a strong fuel odor (like when is very rich) I am pretty sure I have start the engine before in other occasions with my door open and never smell that strong fuel odor. As soon as the engine get semi warm (engine not quite up to temp) the misfiring goes away and the car behave like nothing happened and runs perfectly. At Idle I still fill sometime the hiccup. There is no illumination of the Check Engine Light.. Scan for codes with my OBD FUSION and it throw P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected So I went a make the test of using a spray water bottle to spray over the coil pack and there was no misfires neither any electrical arcing. I done this test with the engine at idle and also with some body helping me pressing the gas accelerator to rise the RPM. I spray very heavily and there was not a single hiccup. I then use a garden hose to throw a lot of water over the coil pack and neither misfired. I have not removed yet the plugs to check them but these plugs are almost new. I installed new 101-000-033-AA OEM plugs at 60kms (Does was the same part number plugs I remove and the same part my VW dealer says my car use with my VIN No.) Any advice what other test I can perform to pin point what is the exact part I need to change? Or what other test I can perform with the OBD Fusion code scanner? Maybe I can make a test when starting it in the morning before the engine get warmer. I really don’t want to throw money changing and changing parts. Thank you for your help and time. Regards, Isaac

Its look like the brake system knows is a little colder/raining and the brake pedal behave that way In none of the cases, the brake pedal is spongy. There is no brake oil leaking Car is breaking OK just the brake pedal travels more until I feel resistance. I try it breaking very hard and the ABS activate as normal The brake fluid reservoir is full and the color looks OK The brake booster vacuum plastic pipe is all new. I replaced a few month ago. 12. Hey Guys, I have a 2002 1.8T I think my Thermostat is bad.........What you think? It takes more than 10 minutes to reach the temperature to 90º (middle of the temperature dial indicator) Even that I am driving it with the AC on it take his time. I am pretty sure in the pass the temperature get more quick to reach the middle of the temperature dial indicator. I changed that thermostat 050 121 113 C with a genuine Behr German and thermostat housing at 50,000kms when I replaced the water pump. My car has now 62,000kms This POS part doesn’t last! So do you recommend me a brand? I was checking on e-bay this $19.00 a MEYLE combo set that include the thermostat, O-ring and thermostat housing. What you think? 18. Hey Guys, My 2002 1.8T Octavia has only 60,000kms. Just recently I fill that the brake pedal travel has increase. Car brakes normal and I inclusive brake hard and the ABS is working OK. The brake pedal does not feel sponginess and there is no oil leak from the calipers. I was checking my rear brake pads thru the spaces holes on the wheels and I can see the thickness is very small...... So its look like I will need new brake pads.............This brake pads are the factory ones that comes with the car when I bought it. I dont travel fast, just use the car to go to my office and there is always rush trafic 1) Do this small thickness can cause the pedal travel to increase? Or I have another damage? 2) Front brake pads look more thicker 3) Do I need to change the Brake rotors if I change brake pads? How many miles/kms do brake rotors last? 4) I know that good brakes are a important thing but what Brake Pads & Rotor alternatives I can go without going broke. . My car is stock with factory 16 inch wheels and 205/55/16 tires. 5) I was checking several Brake Pads & Rotors and there are brands like BCT rotors and green stuff brake pads, brembo, akebono Meyle, PAGID and there are other cheaper parts. So whats your experience and advice THX, Isaac

  21. Here is a good DYI so you have an idea of the job. Its look like is a PITA! http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1980960-How-to-DIY-rear-axle-bushing-replacement-MKIV You can get on e-bay a bushing instalation tool for this job: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-Golf-MKIV-MK4-Jetta-Beetle-Rear-Axle-Suspension-Bushing-Remover-Removal-Tool-/181328457509?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item2a3804af25&vxp=mtr I dont know how much a mechanic or the Skoda dealer will charge you for this job, but here in my country I pay US$ 140.00 hand labor for replacing both rear bushings. I order Meyle rear bushings on e-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Meyle-Brand-Rear-Axle-Beam-Trailing-Arm-Bushing-for-Audi-TT-Beetle-Jetta-Golf-/151087065320?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item232d7da8e8&vxp=mtr Good luck
  22. I am sorry to hear you cant solder the wire.................. Well £70 is not that bad. Solder that part is a PITA! That metal part is like plated and dont want to take the solder. I was with a friend and we put 2 40 Watts soldering iron and leave it like a minute, then the wire got soldered. Its look like the metal part need to get very hot in order to acept the solder. When installing the new Ignition module, sand the metal plate on the air filter and make sure to remove any old dry paste.....Just make sure the metal surfase is flat and clean in order that the plate touch 100% the back of the ignition module. Keep in mind that the plate in the air filter is a heat disipation aid to help cool the ignition module. Also, MAKE SURE to put thermo conductive paste on both parts......... This will help on a better heat tranfer in cooling the Ign Module........ You can get this paste in any electronic or computer parts place. Good luck, Isaac
  23. I fill your pain! The Skoda dealer was asking US$ 450.oo for that part. So, I make a search on the net to see if I can buy it on ebay for less and found the tread on how to fix it. Isaac
  24. Just be carefull opening the plastic case. Take your time with a X-Acto or similar sharp blade tool. Be carefull if you introduce a small screwdriver to pry the top of the plastic case. If you introduce it to much, you will touch/damage the circuit board. Again, take your time and be patience with that plastic top cover Good luck, Isaac
