  1. Iv got a mechanic coming look at it tonight once we have towed it back. Hoping its going be some sort of hose and nothing major. There was no pop or bang which Iv read usually happens when the turbo goes so fingers crossed!!
  2. Hi I have noticed a loss of power over the last few days when going over 2000revs and the car struggles to get to 70mph. Took it a garage last night and they suggested changing the hoses/vacuum pumps as a few look rather tatty and its prob to do with air. Going to work today driving along nicely and all of a sudden there was complete loss of power, put accelerator down and nothing happened. The car was literally moving on its clutch bite, running really rough like chugging. Seemed to be some smoke behind me, whitish grey. Managed to pull onto a car park, switched the engine off and now it won't start. Its trying to start and there's also a bit of hissing/whistling coming from the engine as it tries to start. Waiting till the other half gets home so he can tow me back home. Anyone any ideas??? Im panicking that its major like the turbo
  3. Thanks for the advice, I was a bit torn as to whether keep it modded or not as I don't want to give the impression that its a ragged boy racer car when it isn't. Gettin a LOT of interest on ebay, Iv got to schedule in 3 viewings 2mora, its quite stressful, people are actually squabbling over whether they can view it first lol. Im just goin see what happens but if Im not happy with the price then I can always pull it off and relist as standard. Nice to get the opinion of someone who doesnt know me or the car, as you will think what most people think
  4. If its any use my Fabia is on Ebay at the mo, its got no reserve as I want it gone as Iv bought my new car. Im gettin rid as we are having a baby and have 2 dogs so the car isnt big enough and we need a diesel as Im up and down the motorway every day. Iv put the starting price as £800. The title of my auction calls it a Fabia 1.4 with Golf GTi alloys. Theres nowt wrong with the car to my knowledge and it costs the same to insure as the Arosa I had before. It may be worth watching!
  5. Hi, Hoping some of u cud help me here. Im getting rid of my Fabia as I need a diesel and been offered an X reg Golf GT TDi in metallic silver for really cheap. Its cheap as it needs some work doing to it. I have got the mechanical side of it quoted but don't know anyone that can do bodywork. Basically the drivers wing has been replaced at some point during the cars life with a non genuine wing and the paints coming off and its gone quite rusty so I think it will need replacing. Also on the drivers side rear wheel arch it has had a scrape off a gate post down to the metal so that will need repairing too. I didn't know whether to get a side respray done as both bits of damage are on one side. Has anyone had similar jobs done on a metallic silver Skoda as that should give me a ballpark figure so I know whether to have it or walk away. The car is impounded so I can't get a sprayer to go and just look at it. Any help would be appreciated as Im goin to have to make a decision by tomorrow
  6. Im goin try make it. wot time?
  7. I had the same issue on my Fabia with the temperature beeper. Its also a 1.4 8v and it turned out to be the water pump
  8. Same here! I was well suprised see another Skoda down there lol!

I don't usually go down Fez as such, just ava drive thru regularly if I am goin somewhere to see if any friends are down there. Do u go down much?

    :)

  9. Hiya,

Nice to meet you the other night!!!

Dont see many Fabias down Fez, lol

Let us know when you are going down again,

    Cheers

    Rob

  10. Hi, According to my local Skoda dealer headgaskets are prone to going on the earlier Fabias. Mine is a 2002 and is included in this batch of Fabias. It has just gone and is in for repairs at the mo. I have had my timing chain changed just over 60,000 miles as it was rattling.
  11. Hi, My car has had to go in for repairs, and has been stripped down as it seems that my head gasket has gone. The head has gone away for pressure testing and re-skimming if necessary, however, on cylinder 1 the wet liner has got a lot of movement in it and there is not a build up of carbon like on the other cylinders. It appears that my car hasn't been running on all cylinders. Has anyone had or heard of this problem with the wet liners? Any help would be appreciated!!!
  12. They were from a shop in Stoke, called Hot Hatch Corner. Heres the address: Welcome to Hot hatch Corner They are 17's and cost £450 and came with VW centre caps but they gave me some Skoda stickers which I have on. Didn't need to alter anything to put them on except the tracking afterwards. They are v. similar to the originals and I think they look right nice. They look much better in the flesh than on the pictures. They always turn heads wherever I go. Hope this helps!
  13. Thanks, I think it does need lowering, but its just having the time and money. Will post sum pics when I get it done
  14. Had these replicas late last year but never got round to putting them on here till now Had probs with MS paint when downsizing the photos thats why one is much bigger than the other lol
  15. I have a 2002 1.4 8v Fabia thats done around 66,000 and I think I have big probs with it. The coolant needs filling every couple of weeks, there is brown cream stuff under the oil cap, the temp sensor isn't working and there is this intermittent tapping noise, usually on tickover and at low revs. Does this sound like a head gasket and this piston problem that has been mentioned on here before? I have already had the water pump and tensioner done. :( Any help will be appreciated
