I dont know anyone with a vcds. I contacted a couple of guys off here but to no avail. I spoke to the mechanic that did it but he has no idea. It doesn't help that he's my brother and we did it after hours!

Evening all, I had a new bearing fitted on the front of my MK1 a few weeks ago. Ever since it feels like the abs is kicking in when I brake under 20 mph. I thought it might be the abs sensor so I bought and fitted a new one. I tried pulling it out a little but the abs warning light comes on and goes off when I push it back in. I checked the ring to see if there were any missing bits but that's fine too. I had the bearing replaced on the other side a few previous and that one is fine! Any thoughts? The brakes still work it's just getting annoying now. Thanks Dan

Grinding/knocking when braking with ABS below 20Kmph
DanBow replied to hello222's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Hi all, I'm in the wrong forum as I'm a MK1 Superb owner but we're all brothers right? lol Anyhoo, my MK1 is doing the same thing after a bearing change. I presumed that it was an abs sensor so bought and fitted a new one. It wasn't. The only minor difference is that mine only does the grinding/pulsing thing as I'm about to stop, Literally the last second before stationary but it is so annoying. I've pulled out the sensor and checked the actual abs ring for any missing bits and pushed it back in as far as it will go. Before I fitted the new sensor I tried pulling it out a little but the abs warning light came on. So, anything else I can do? Ta Dan -
I don't know if the op resolved his issue, mine was similar. My radio was in safe mode and steering wheel controls didn't work but I'm sure the horn did work. There are two methods to try, to get it out of safe mode. First, disconnect the radio for about 24 hours. Second, leave the radio turned on, with the ignition on for about 1 hour. This way worked for me. Once it's out of safe mode you can enter your code.

I connected it to the full version of Torque on my phone but there was no error codes. I don't have any other software.

G'day, Another question for the hive mind. On my Mk1 Superb, when i turn the engine on I get 2 warning messages on the LCD screen. One says check brake discs but they were all replaced 4k miles ago so I presume it's just a faulty or Ill fitted sensor. I'll take the wheels off at some point and check. The second one says lights failure. All the lights are working, internal and external. I changed a side light that was a bit dull thinking it could be that but it still the message comes up. Any ideas? Ta Dan

Hi, welcome to the site. I'm new here too and not too far away from you. I'm in Wrexham. I have to add that I'm from Saltney though! Lol

@Thrice_Guy Thanks for the offer. I've already paid for a new one so ill just wait for that. @Rustynuts yeah, he said he could so I'm just waiting for it to come.

Bit of a result. Disconnected yesterday morning and reconnected it this afternoon but still locked. Left it powered on for just over an hour after I reconnected it and it's no longer locked so I have just ordered a new code online. Thanks again @Rustynuts
