  1. And goodbye. It was a crazy plan that would have burned all my cash and left me with an undriveable Scoda. I did the sensible thing and bought an Integra Type R because that comes with the engine I want mated to the gearbox that can handle it and brakes that can cope with a track day Bye for now, Andy
  2. Thanks for the reply. I've done a lot of reading and re-thinking on this and will not go ahead with it. The cost of mating the two engines and then chasing all the weaknesses through the drive train will likely ruin me! I've also found out that Slovakia has just started to allow RHD cars to be registered there. The best thing to do is to buy the Integra and enjoy the engine as it was intended.
  3. I’m leaning towards Honda’s B18C engine from the DC2 Integra type R or similar civic. Common sense says I should just buy a nice DC2 in the UK for £8k (they’re more like €14k out here for LHD) but: 1, Wheres the fun in that 2, I can’t register a RHD car in Slovakia I should be able to pick up a dressed engine for about €2k. Then €1k in custom fabrication and another €1k for the megasquirt install and that leaves €1.5k contingency. The only spanner in the works being the weight of the engine. Despite being a Ally block, the dressed engine will weigh about 180kg. Is that going to ruin my fun? Does anyone know the weight of the 120 engine?
  4. Your ideas please gentle people. See my into here for a little about myself and my project full advert for the car is here, I’ve not bought it yet but will do next week for about €3.5k. Original plan is to put a Polo G40 engine in, but I’m interested get your suggestions and help thinking through other options. £5k to pimp her up, what would you do?
  5. Hi, I’m a British guy living in Bratislava. I just joined this forum myself, hope you enjoy your new car!
  6. With the death of Barry Chuckle hitting us all hard, it is with deepest sinc rite that I say hello from me, to you, to me, to you. My condolences to his family, friends and lovers. I suppose I I’ve always laughed at and enjoyed the chuckle brothers, much like I’ve always laughed at, and laughed at Skodas. But with my 38th birthday recently behind me, I find myself in deepest Central Europe and with a little cash to burn... About me you ask? Or even if you don’t, the only thing that matters on here is cars, so here goes, my car history, that window into my twisted petrol soaked soul. (No car added, company cars have been omitted) Mini Marcos Citroen AX GT Clio Ph2 16v Ford Escort 1.8 LX VW Polo CL VW Polo GT VW Polo G40 Mazda MX-5 BBR Turbo VW Passat 140 Diesel VW Polo G40 (saloon conversion) Nissan Sklyine R32 GTR Fisher Fury 1.8 Turbo (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F142872600682) So why am I here you ask? Or even if you don’t, the only thing that matters here is cars, and one manufacturer in particular; Skoda! Yes my (soon to be) friends, a bright green Skoda 120 LS with potential for pimping(pic attached). Oh, the possibilities! NOS, turbo, engine swap - G40, K20a, rotary? Or what about electric? Tesla goodness laid out with military spec wiring and torque enough to flip the dam thing over. Stance, rims, big pipes, sump scraping Euro goodness. My default choice (obvious from my car history) is the Polo G40 engine. But I’m hear to be educated. So, after this brief Ahoy! I’m off to trawl the forums for inspiration and words of wisdom. I’d love to hear your ideas, and to help you keep you on point, I’m good with a spanner and a soldering iron. Love to learn, not brand loyal. I want good sound above all else (power is a given). It’s a weekend fast road car and yes I want to do track days in it. My budget for the whole project is £5k (not including the car). Resale value is in the top 5 needs because I’ve never had a hobby car longer than 3 years. When it’s done I’ll take it to Worthersee and hope to see you there Cheers, Andy
