  1. I have just taken delivery of my new Kamiq 1.5TSI SE L EXEC DSG. I previously had a 2021 model. There have been some changes, a few of them annoying, but there is one change that I'm wondering whether it can be fixed. I have set the visual cockpit to Classic mode and selected the MPG display for the left-hand circle. This displays current MPG and MPG since start. In my last Kamiq I was able to change from 'Since start' to 'Long term" but now I can't. Am I missing something or has this option been removed?
  2. Thanks!. I'd forgotten that switch was there!
  3. Does the Kamiq have heated wing mirrors? I can't find any mention in the manual, but I would expect all well-specced car to have them nowadays.
  4. Interesting. What is TCS please? And why does it not trigger for something crossing in front? I thought that Skoda/VAG boasted that their cars are now so clever that it was virtually impossible to collide with a person or vehicle at a low speed.
  5. I already turn Lane Assist off as it annoys me, as well as being dangerous. On the other hand, I actually like the engine to switch off when I'm stationary. It saves fuel and it makes the car interior nice and quiet. The slight delay when starting off again doesn't bother me. However neither of these suggestions are related to Front Assist. I have checked on Front Assist topics in the Octavia fora, but there don't seem to any recent ones.
  6. Does anyone else find Front Assist either annoying or useless? Occasionally I get a Front Assist warning on the dash in big red symbols, but the cause of the warning is the presence of a vehicle ahead of me that is causing any danger. Usually it to either the left or right of my driving path. But I recently was in a situation where it was needed but did not activate. I was approaching a roundabout and expected the car ahead of me to pull away, but it didn't. I braked heavily but couldn't stop in time and we had a slight bump. So the Front Assist didn't activate and neither did the emergency braking. I thought that if you tried to brake hard then the car would help by applying the brakes really hard. It certainly does that when I'm in reverse and the car comes to a sudden stop if I am approaching a bush. Is it not supposed to do the same when in forward gear? I thought that with all the new technology and sensors now built in that a low speed collision was impossible. Not so, it seems.
  7. Mmm. Too many questions. Does it do it automatically as soon as it's plugged in, does it have to stay plugged in? Does it work in UK cars? Does it only work on Lane Assist or can it also do it with other settings? I would want to learn a lot more about it and from people who have used it.
  8. Well we already get the visual warning. Trouble is the speed limit shown is often wrong. I frequently get told I'm in a 20mph zone when it's 30mph, or 30mph when it's derestricted.
  9. But each time you get close to the white line the car tries to nudge you back to the left. Does that not bother you? It really annoys me, and an annoyed driver is not a good driver.
  10. That's fine for people who stick rigidly to the lane markings. Others like me prefer to smooth out bends, which saves on tyre wear. So I'm not going to indicate every time I smooth out a bend.
  11. Yes, but you have to fight it. I just want to steer where I want without the car trying to urge me to do it differently. If it were a self-driving car, I'd be happy to let it take over, but it's not.
  12. I do appreciate that it could be relevent if, for instance, you were in a serious accident. But the fact is that you can switch it off, so it cannot be regarded as a serious safety feature, or would be on permanently.
  13. OK, so it is possible, but the problem is finding someone reliable in the UK who can do it.
  14. Whenever I select Nav on the Amundsen screen it defaults to a screen which shows some recent destinations. That's great if you want to go to one of them, or if you want to set a new destination. But most of the time I don't - I just want to see the normal satnav map. But to see the map I have a press on a little triangle which a is quite small, so it's rather fiddly. Is there any way to change the default screen that appears when you select Nav?
