Random failures of fancy gadgets
Not used the Superb much over the last couple of weeks, so no update. However, I did a trip to Carlisle from St Andrews and back last Thursday, so about 360 miles all in. No indication of any problems, so it looks like the new battery has fixed it. Good to know, as I would never have thought of it, as the battery was starting the car with no bother at all, and nothing picked up on its annual service. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, and came up with the solution.

Berisford Don't be too hasty in getting your coat, I have not done the miles yet to see if its fixed it. Might have to wait until I do a long journey to know for sure, next one due is back to Solihull at end of September. I will update on any changes.

Random failures of fancy gadgets
Battery purchased from Halfords website and fitted at one of their depots. Technician cleared all faults and told bms about battery. Strangely enough when I started the car to go there, it told me that the bonnet was open, it wasn't, I got out to check. Will give it a few weeks and see if anything comes back up. Got a good deal on battery using Halfords trade card, well worth it if you qualify for one.

Just to bring us back on topic. Which do I go for first? Change the abs sensors on the left side as per the 2 indications on the obd2, or change the battery as that would hopefully cover all of the other issues that showed up, and may also clear the abs problems? I am thinking battery as a first step, as you all seem to think it is probably close to needing to be changed anyway. Thoughts??

I cleared all faults as none of the errors came up as red, and the car was performing normally. I've been driving for over 50 years, so I was not bothered about losing abs etc. I have not really had much experience of these modern ways of doing things, so I admit that I sometimes screw up by ignoring what the car is telling me. After your post (Inspectorman) I had a look at the obd11 results that the device emailed me, and sure enough there is a part that says that the left rear abs wheel sensor mechanical malfunction, and poor range/performance, and the left front ABS wheel sensor, magnetic field too low. So I have had a look at buying these 2 items, and eurocarparts want £53 each, for Paget items, whereas Autodoc want £23 each for Bosch. I'm looking at the autodoc ones, they do have even cheaper ones, but I am thinking that the originals are probably Bosch. Anyone got any idea why there is such a wide variation in prices, from £10 to £53, is it just cause they can charge that amount, or is there a big difference in quality/longevity? I assume that these are an easy replacement once the wheel is off.

I had the front disks and pads changed 2 days prior to the journey to Solihull. Is it possible that it may be just a poor abs sensor connection following that work?

Random failures of fancy gadgets
Superb 2016, Exec estate. On my way down to Solihull recently, whilst in traffic on M6 close to Liverpool - Manchester area, I had a number of failures at the same time, Park Pilot, ABS, ACC, Front cornering lamps, tire pressure warning, hill hold. Car otherwise continued to perform normally. Carried on to Solihull. Next day plugged inOBD11 to find out what was going on, battery at 12.4 V, ignition off. Cleared all defects, and started engine, battery at 14.2 V. all defects returned. Switched off and on again a couple of times, and eventually defects stayed cleared. Left car for a few days, drove to South Wales, and on way back, all failures returned after about 170 miles of normal driving. Back a Solihull, left car for a few days, and then went to do local errand, car had 2 failures, which cleared themselves in about 0.5 mile. A few days later, I returned home to Scotland, and after starting all ok, after 200 miles or so, all failures appeared again. I had a look at the forums, whilst in Solihull, and the suggestion is that it is the battery, getting old. I have had the car from new, and it has never had a new battery. If I have to buy a new one, thats OK, but there was a mention of resetting of electronics post battery change. Question is, Is a new battery the solution, and if so what needs to be done post battery change? Any advice would be most welcome.

Issues with TMC follwing satnav update
Superb was in for its service today. I asked service reception to get the technician (not mechanics anymore, they cannot fix, just replace) to change the setting as he would have the vcds plugged in to check the fault codes. They said they would ask the technicin if they could do it, answer was, never been asked before, not sure as I don't normally use that part of the software. Will give it a go, but will probably cost you. It did cost, it was an extra 30 mins of labour (£63) but they did manage to do it and I have Traffic Info back, and lots of it in Scotland this evening, 41 alerts. A bit pricy, but I am happy that it is now working. By the way I printed off the settings page from the other thread mentioned above, and gave that to them with what I wanted the setting changed to. Thanks to all that responded

Issues with TMC follwing satnav update
I read all of the info in the thread that NickNorman has posted earlier. Seems to be simple to do. Borrowed my brother in laws XTool fancy gadget and plugged in to the superb. It found everything that the electronics do including Traffic Information which was switched OFF. What it did not do was allow me to turn it back on, I could do lots of other things withn it like alter default seetings for radio volume, and start the engine etc, but not the one thing I wanted to do. Spent about an hour trying to find the setting to cahnge to 14, but nothing. So tried with brother in laws older OBD11 device which he used on his VW caddy van. This could not find the traffic setting at all, probably too old a version. The question is what exactly do I need to be able to change this setting. I have had a look online for vcds, and I see that the software is available as a downlaod, I have a laptop, so that part is easy. Its just the connection to the car. The price of 'VCDS' adaptors is frightening for just small simple change, over £500 in some cases, so thats a no go. There has too be an inexpensive way, I don't mind 50 or 60 quid or thereabouts, but what exactly do I need to buy? As always many thanks for any help any one can provide.

Issues with TMC follwing satnav update
Thanks to NickNorman for the thread. I will have to follow this through and see if I can use an alternate provider. I must be able to as Penpusher reports his works in Germany. Unless of course TMC are still broadcasting in Europe but not UK. Again many thanks to NickNorman and Penpusher for their replies.

Issues with TMC follwing satnav update
When I bought my Superb in 2016 with Columbus infotainment, I would get traffic warnings on the satnav, and could also search for warnings using the traffic button. In 2022 I decided to update satnav data, and that went OK, but I lost the traffic info. I updated again last week using the latest update on the skoda portal, and I still don't have traffic info. When I press the button, the screen gives a no info message. Anybody else have this issue, and have you managed to fix it, it was very useful on long journies from Scotland to Solihull. As another small issue, I keep getting right rear pressure loss indications, even though there is nothing wrong with the tyre pressures, I check them every time I get it, and I am getting a bit fed up now, its been happening for about 3 years. But, I do love my Superb estate, drives a lot better than my A4 Avant.
