  1. Hi All, Have a strange problem with my 2005 vrs AUQ, sometimes when I'm driving the engine goes flat like a dying effect! Then kicks back in. It's been going on a few months now, so last weekend I gave it a full service with new plugs and did the timing belt and water pump as they were due. Only thing I didn't change was the fuel filter! Any ideas Thanks James
  2. That helps a lot, yes it's the front bearing! Although I'm probably not far away I didn't use the tighten and release sequence! Cheers
  3. Hi, Anyone know the torque setting for the hub not on a vrs? Can't seem to get it anywhere! Just went through a new SKF bearing in under 4000 km's so wondering if I had it too tight or loose. Thanks James
  4. Hi guys, I've found my knocking eventually, roll bar bushings! I read a bit about them, but now I'm confused as to which ones I need! Also whats the sleeve does this come with all bushes? 2005 mk1 octavia James
  5. Thanks for the replies, first stop is the exhaust I think see if that's what is knocking, then I think I'll have to look at the mounting for the gearbox and the engine mountings. I'll let you know next week what I find this weekend!
  6. I knew I forgot to write something down it had two new track rods and arms, there was some play in them so I changed them. If I turn the steering left & right quickly I can hear the knocking! I will have a look at the exhaust mounting!
  7. Hi all, I don't really post here much but always trolling through! So I need some ideas on this, a year ago my 05 vrs started to develop a slight knocking noise mainly on rough ground. So seeing that my car has a 167,000 km's on it I decided I would spend some money on it as things like wheel bearings were gone! So it had 2 new wishbones with ball joints 2 new Shocks 2 new SKF wheel bearings 2 new drop links 2 new OE anti roll bar bushings And it still making the knocking, for me it seems to be either on both sides or around the middle, it's quite loud. Any ideas, could this be the gearbox mount ? Are these a common problem?? Thanks James
  8. Do you still have the throttle body and could you confirm the engine number it comes off, I'm looking for one from an AUQ engine!
  9. Perfect!!!!!!!! Thanks a million for the reply's! Lets hope it works.
  10. Found this on here, anyone know what the squares mean? Front sports suspension Toe for 17" wheels (RS only) ... 0 1.3mm (0.6mm/0.6mm) Camber ... -33' 30' (1+/45'+) Caster angle ... 7 50' 30' (8 30'/8 45') Rear sports suspension Toe for 16" wheels (17" not quoted) ... 3.0 1.2mm (1.75mm/1.75mm) Camber ... -1 27' 10' (-1 40'/-1 10') Thanks for checking!
  11. Hi Guys, I really hope that someone out there can help me, basically I am living in Germany and have my right hand drive vrs with me. So I had it tracked and its been a disaster, the noise from the wheels is unreal, the garage that took it to be tracked said that the tire place couldn't get the tolerances for an english car and has now gone out of business. So I am looking for the tolerances for tracking, I'm not sure if they are in the Haynes but my astra Haynes manual has them in! Can anyone help me! Just a little info I've just put 2 new shocks in, lower ball joint and all looks in good shape, and my last tire was wrecked from the inside. So in my opinion everything is pointing to tracking - what you think? James
  12. Anyone know the paint code for 2004 Vrs 180bhp in red, or can they tell me where to find it???? Cheers James
  13. Ok so I will try to explain this the best I can: Car Octavia Vrs, 1.8 Turbo AUQ Motor Now my problem is to do with the auxillary belt either coming off the pulleys or sqeeking till the belt is ruined! So a while back i needed a new tensioner so I ordered one from skoda and fitted it with new belt cost over 200 euro - wow less than 10k kilometers the belt started to whine when cold so i took a look and could see the belt was knackered. New belt and then 3 days later was driving in the mountains and off goes the belt. Called the AD\AC = AA and they towed me to the nearest Skoda dealership. They told me that I had fitted the wrong tensioner???? Now I had ordered it in the dealership with the chasis number!!!!! Anyway they fixed it and all was good till the winter the following year, YES back to the same story belt sqeeking like a Bitch! And belt off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Argghhhhhhhh I can see my problem now I have taken it into my own hands, the tensioner is not lined up with the alternator or crank pulley, so its wearing the belt to one side and throwing it off. So I stripped it all apart and put it back together WITH NO LUCK. What am I doing wrong, the tensioner only bolts to the block and should then be straight??????? Correct????? Any way of adjusting the tensioner left or right???? Help would be welcomed! Regards James
  14. I had this a while back (summer) Luckily I had the door trim off before and had missed 2 screws between the wing and dooe so i could get the trim off then basically i could see the lock but still with no luck, headed off to the skoda garage and they smashed it into peices for no charge, lol Said they do about 60 cars a year for this across the vag range! Without the card off gonna be a no go!
  15. Thanx for that, i got the door card off with the door closed but still no budge tbh it seems as if the lock actually has seized. So i am not sue how to get it open!!!!!
  16. Right ever since i bought my octavia its a pain in the **** with elaectrics, now the passenger lock has no noise from it and door is jammed stuck. Need to open it, anyone any ideas to get open or door card off. The only thing i can think caused this is the regulator is broken the car hasn't been moved in a week. The electrics is really getting to me these days, just fixed the lock and regulator on passenger side.
  17. Have it there now released the barrel lock then it came out Cheers guys Yes a sunday well spent playing with locks :(
  18. Try to remove the lock from drivers door anyone that can explain how to release the wire from the lock to the handle. Cheers
  19. Ok first one is location temp switch mk1 vrs 05 for engine Second one is today no reverse lights or parking sensors as far as i can see thats it, vag com showing no faults, the parking sensor beeps when i check it but wont work otherwise Any help would be great Cheers guys Sorry forgot to say fuses are fine!!
  20. Hi all, just a question. Engine light on with fault of temperature sensor voltage too high. Washed under the bonnet the other day could this cause that???? Read somewhere its built into the water bottle is this true. Cheers guys Oh vrs mk1
  21. I have just fitted 1 to my mk1 octavia Before the handling wasn't the best with it feeling boaty at high speed Now its definatley more direct the change of direction is awsome now compared to before Worth every penny
  22. I think i read somewhere that its a fault with the octavia's mk1 and is now ok with mk2 Not sure if i dreamt that though
  23. I had the alignment done on my octy mk1 vrs the other day and it came out perfect, but the guy doing it said the rear wheels were out that is going to cause un even tire wear. The car has recently been lowered to 30mm and a whiteline rarb fitted, obviously there isnt adjustment on the rear. The guy blamed it on the lowering, but i can remember that the rear tires were uneven everytime i have changed tires/ before the lowering happened. I have owned the car from new, and its never been hit. The only other thing i can think on is that a wheel bearing that was making noise in germany but not now could be causing it. No play really in the wheel and it only does it on really even surfaces. Any ideas????
  24. Fixed, stole the baby powder from the house, not looked back since. I actually took apart the alternator checked bearings they were fine obviously, ah well it eliminated that problem
  25. Sorted, roller bearing's fecked, they are cobra 30mm drop really happy look well and handling well improved just the whiteline rarb to fit when it comes. Cheers guys
