  1. Just followed your instructions to fit a new switch and it now works! It would only lock and not unlock before. Thanks :)
  2. Yeah I'd give anything for beeps, a constant image and proximity bars! It only flashes up the car image for 2 seconds when moving gear stick from reverse to neutral then goes back to radio, no beeps, nothing else. Happy new year to you all.
  3. Thanks I'll keep trying :) I haven't yet put the original module back in but I didn't get the brief image on the radio with the original module, only when I replaced it.....but it's probably the first thing to try, to put the original module back in.
  4. Still no success with this - could it be the switch or sensor on the gearbox/lever when selecting reverse? - I've never heard a beep in the cabin when engaging reverse. - All sensors emit the self test click with ignition on and in reverse. - I replaced the control module by passenger side rear wheelwell. - I only get a 2 second flash of the car image on the Stream radio when going from reverse to neutral. Any ideas? Really want to fix it - it's become a mission! Dan
  5. The old and new modules are identical, same part number etc. Guess I'll have to rip out the carpet again. Doh!
  6. Hi guys, well need your assistance again please with these damn rear parking sensors. Replaced the faulty sensor today and confirmed it clicks when ignition is on and car is in reverse. All 4 now emit the self test clicking. As already mentioned I've replaced the control module too. All I get is when going from reverse to neutral, the image of the car flashes up on the radio for maximum of 2 seconds. I get no beeping at all. Help!
  7. I'm unsure about the factory sports option? Will a new knob come with new clip? I'll have a search.
  8. Yes it has all that stuff. Jumbo box with ac, rain wipers, cruise etc.
  9. Cheers Mike. I only bought it whilst I'm back home for some medical stuff so I'll be selling in around 6 to 9 months all being well. I like tinkering and it'll be really satisfying to fix the rear sensors. Only other thing is the gear knob needs a new clip as it rotates but I may just put up with that.
  10. Found a new sensor on eBay for £10.99 so let's see if that sorts it! I'll have to paint it silver.
  11. Hi Mike, definitely Skoda original factory fit. I replaced the Skoda module today and the image displayed on the radio. The car only cost me 1200 quid and think I got a good deal! It has 17 inch Skoda Pegasus option wheels too. It's all original never had anything modified from new. 94k miles and the 1.6fsi BLF engine so no timing belts for me to worry about.
  12. Just did the click test with ignition on. Looking from the back, the 2nd left sensor is not emitting a click whereas the others are
  13. MicMac thanks I'll try listening to each sensor as you advise. I had assumed that the rear washer had been leaking on the original module but it was all dry. Seems odd that I now get a pic of the car for a couple of secs when moving from reverse to neutral but didn't before.
  14. Hi everyone, I recently bought a cheap runabout Octavia. It's a great car and I knew about the rear sensor issue when I bought it. I purchased a new module on eBay and set about removing the boot trim to replace it. Need your help though! Before I changed the module I got no beep when engaging reverse and no image at all on the Stream radio display. Absolutely as if there were no rear sensors on the car. I just swapped out the module this morning and now it's exactly the same EXCEPT when I go from reverse to neutral the radio display shows the image of the car for a second or 2 then goes back to the radio. So something has changed by fitting the new module but it still isn't working....any ideas? Any reset needed etc? Cheers, Dan
  15. I've told him if it were my I'd push for a new car.......I think he hinted at this and they gave him some standard reply about it being under warranty and any issues will be resolved......that's not the point though is it! With a new car you don't want the knowledge of things being replaced or the hassle of things going wrong and visiting the dealer repeatedly.
  16. Hi all, I currently work and live in Muscat, Oman and want everyone's advice ASAP on this issue if you'd be so kind. A good Omani friend bought a new Golf R, 4 months ago from the VW dealer here.....it recently unfortunately had an engine issue and they've told him it will get a new engine under warranty. They've put his car outdoors with bonnet up and at the moment temps reach 45 to 50 deg C in the day sun and approx 35 deg C at night....it's been sat outside there in their yard for 3+ weeks now open to dust and crud! From pics below it seems they've only removed the head and left block and pistons uncovered!! Can't imagine this ever being done in my experience......car should be undercover in clean shade with a cover over the block?! I've made a list for him of what i think are the major crazy errors they've made including: Uv from sun will affect all rubber and plastic in the engine bay and make it brittle. Why is bonnet up?? If engine being replaced why Is block still there? Why is engine uncovered??! They've said all hoses will be replaced, but still..... Can you all add your thoughts after seeing pics? He is meeting the manager tomorrow. Cheers, Dan
  17. Hi All, In my 56 reg Fabia vRS, the button on the inside of my drivers door, underneath the front electric window switches, which usually locks and unlocks the car from within has stopped working (mine has the anti-hijack auto lock thing when I pull away). Any ideas? Is there a fuse just for this lock/unlock button? Thanks, Dan
  18. I need to fit a new colour coded wing mirror cover on my 56 Fabia vRS......can't work out how to get the mirror glass out to get to the screws which hold the old cover on, can anyone help please?
  19. My wife's '55 plate Octavia 4x4 TDI estate has developed a horrendous metallic banging/clattering noise from the rear of the car when going over 20mph and especially over any bumps. It is easily audible externally, I could hear my wife coming from round the corner of the road. Originally I thought it was the exhaust but found out tonight it is the cover/guard behind the brake disc on the driver side rear wheel.....it's loose and banging around. I assume this is a stone guard for the brake disc? I have 3 questions: 1. Firstly and most importantly is it safe for my wife to drive with our baby and 5 yr old in it every day until we get it to the garage?? 2. How much is a replacement and how hard is it to replace? 3. Any ideas how this could have happened? Thanks, Dan
  20. Will do that, cheers. Hopefully it is just a stone.
