  1. So just to confirm. If you have a 3P charging cable ( rasy to check with a multimeter, are all the big pins wired through) and you plug in an AC 22Kw charging point, you'll charge st 12Kw because it's limited by the charger in the car. Always make me smile as even a Zoe has a 22Kw charger and is supplied with a 3p cable. I have a Zoe and 3p + a 23Kw charger at home. So plenty of time to fully charge 2 Eva at home overnight.
  2. Yes, thanks, great news. I've configured and my config comes to £52.5K. Now to see the Kia EV6 on Tuesday evening. Funny but if the configurator had come sooner I'd have placed an order by now. Bus since I've noted that the even the 80X only has a max towing capability of 1200Kg, I'm now also looking at the EV6........... 1600 Kg towing.... and finally looking at the BMW i4 M50...... the latter is a bit expensive though.
  3. Based on some early tests by drivers reporting to 'EV What can it tow', it is best to assume range will be halved, but may be not quite as bad as that. If people load their caravans over the maximum specified on the loading plate, they are of course breaking the law and creating significant risk to them and others. I keep a spreadsheet of everything I load into the caravan with each weighed. Sometimes I have to choose what to take and what not so as not to exceed the max permitted loading. EV's on the whole make good tow vehicles because they are often heavier than their diesel/petrol counterparts and all the torque is delivered when you need it most for towing. Range of course could be an issue for some. Nice point about the EV6 is you don\t need hook-ip either on the site as the car can provide it via it's 240v output adapter. So long as you are not plugging a kettle in every morning of course and still use gas for heating.
  4. Thank you for the information, less than I expected. Might have to go for the Kia EV6, 1600kg of towing
  5. Hi Colin, It's not the Sportline trim. That is on the configurator already, it's the "x" part, i.e. the all wheel drive option I'm waiting for. Apparently it's only going to be available on the Sportline initially.
  6. Does anybody have any info on when the configurator will be updated with the 80x? The 80 has a max towing figure of 1000Kg which is no good for me. The 80x is 1200Kg which is just about there for my lightweight caravan. Still might go for an EV6 though as that has a towing figure of 1600Kg. Depends party on the test drive I have scheduled for 27th July of the EV6.
  7. T.hanks, that’s what I’m hoping. I’ve taken the Enyaq for a test drive and love it and have been waiting for the 80x. However, I also have a test drive of an EV6 on the 27th July. I tow a small caravan and it turns out the max towing weight of the 80X is 1200Kg only but the EV6 is 1600Kg. So now a difficult choice….. unless I hate the EV6 when I drive it
  8. The latter points above are mainly correct. However it is incorrect to assume that all domestic properties only have single phase. Mine has 3 phase which is handy for my 3 phase wood working machines. That means that I have 440V AC available across two phases and 240V available between any phase and neutral. The OP asks a very interesting question because EV manufacturers are often less than transparent on what AC chargers is fitted. I'll ignore the CCS DC charging side, generally 40KW on up depending on the DC charge point but DC chargers are almost never fitted to domestic homes not least because of their cost. I have a 3 phase AC charge point fitted at home for the Zoe. The Zoe has a fully capable 3 phase AC charger fitted which draws current from each of the three phases simultaneously and at 7.4Kw per phase thus 3 x 7.4Kw.... 22Kw. I've checked all this as I have a digital 3 phase meter fitted in the 6mm 3 phase cable line to the charge point which I can talk to via my LAN and a WIFI digital interface to the meter. The cooling fan on the Zoe certainly comes on a lot when charging at the full 32A per phase. I have therefore limited the charge rate on the controller to about 26A per phase as I'm not keen on the full 96A (3x32) total being pulled whilst say somebody is using the 11.5KW shower in the house....... that's a lot of current for a domestic property. The house was originally fitted with 3 phase because it has so many 2/3kW electric storage heaters (long removed). I think that the Enyaq has a charger fitted that can pull from 3 phases simultaneously but is limited to or only capable of 16A per phase (16x3= 48A..... simply W=VI so 48X230 = 11Kw) thus 11Kw charging max........ way to go Zoe on the AC charging. So it would be good if somebody can confirm that a 3 phase AC charger is fitted in the Enyaq thus not limiting it to 7.4kW or a single phase charger. I've not been able to confirm this either way. It is more likely to be a 3 phase charger as most of mainland Europe has 3 phase to the domestic house and all new builds by design. UK infrastructure can support this in most streets but it's not delivered to the house.
  9. I've been looking at these options, just looks like a marketing way to charge a lot for not a lot. I really want to know the detail of what the Founders Edition will comprise of and what you get for all that additional cost. Also when we can configure it on the UK website/ My local dealer knows nothing.
  10. A good number of Audi owners have recorded this problem. there is a dealer fix if it does not sort itself. I normally top mine up in Mainland Europe where they have pumps for Adblue with a nozzle that fits the Adblue filler..... also very cheap. Last fill up on my Q2 was somewhere near Vienna. the Q2 is being replaced with a Kodiaq when it finally arrives
  11. We had running boards on a Nissan Pathfinder. It was a big step up without them...... but for £900 as an option, no thanks. Rather spend on progressive steering which I note is now available on the configurator
  12. I know this is a bit of a complicated question but wonder if anybody knows. On my Audi Q2 DSG I have adaptive cruise and traffic sign speed recognition. When the apative cruise is on, it ignores the change in local max speed recognised by the speed detection and holds whatever speed I’ve set. I was driving a new Audi A6 today with the same options. On this model, the adaptive cruise automatically changes its speed setting to reflect what the speed recognition camera is seeing. Does my yet to be delivered Kodiaq with the same options have the linkage the A6 has?
  13. I think this is a fair point and I've not had any personal evidence of the start/stop causing all the mayhem amongst the engine parts mentioned here. I do know the battery is specially designed with start/stop in mind. I also recognise that I'm very fortunate in being able to change my car every couple of years. I do wonder how a car with this amount of electronics and embedded systems will work in say 10 years.
  14. I drive an Audi Q2 DSG Diesel at the moment. It has different drive modes and I tend to select Eco or Comfort. How soon the engine stops is affected by which drive mode is selected. If you select sport mode it almost never stops. IF I select Eco, it stops before I have actually pulled up at the red traffic light. So what, you just get used to it. I'm quite used to the fact the engine stops before I have pulled up. It kicks in again as soon as I hit the accelerator or indeed as soon as the vehicle in front pulls away if I have adaptive cruise on. The fact the turbo gets hot or any other technical load on the battery which is specifically designed for stop /start, I really don't care. It's under warranty and will be sold long before the three year warranty runs out. I do however care about the fact that I'm not puking diesel fumes all over pedestrians and cyclists at the traffic lights. Further of course in various countries, Switzerland for example, if my engine is running at traffic lights I'm probably breaking the law and I'd rather not be doing that. This will eventually be mandatory on all vehicles and you'll not be able to turn it off. So for those who don't like it for whatever reason, enjoy the limited time you have without it.
  15. Yes, this is the same thing I've got signed with the dealer, essentially a contract that states that if anything changes to my advantage that would have been known at the time of ordering then I have the right to take advantage of it without additional cost and that if anything changes that disadvantages me (e.g. the list price going over £40K which increase the tax here in the UK, or the engine horsepower being reduced) that I have the right to financial restitution or in any event the right to cancellation and a full refund of all monies paid to date...… but how many people actually are savvy enough to do this or even realise that the MY19 specs are not going to be the same as the MY18 or even that the specs are changing at all..... Caveat emptor is not s legal principle under Consumer Rights.
  16. Think you are missing the point here, we know the purchase price, what is not known is the list price. Furthermore it is not about the intelligence of the purchaser but the legal perspective. Your last sentence is the point, are Skoda actually breaking the law? The purchaser may well not know that the order they placed is against a non issued spec. Skoda dealers are certainly not making that obvious or clear when selling. So the point is that if nobody tests this position then it will not be tested and Skoda will continue.
  17. So yes, this is Winner in Cinderford. Went through the configurator, paid the deposit accepted for finance etc. The delivery is not confirmed but Skoda UK have said 25wk +. I'm still in the cooling off period for the finance so I can clearly cancel easily at present. However I'm more interested in the legality of the right to sell something without a specification under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
  18. Is it legal to sell a product, a car in this case, without a known specification under the Consumer Rights Act 2015? Discuss. What if the products list price changes between say 39500 and 40200, what if the engine capacity is significantly less, what if the options are different etc. Can you legally sell something if you cannot accurately describe it?
