  1. LOL I think the police might disagree if I drove the vRS like I used to do in my 20s back when i was young and stupid. In any case you're right it's not that quick when i compare it to my motorbike. But i ride that on my own
  2. My pch is up at the very start of Nov. I could buy the vehicle if I wished (mrs says no though), I had a letter from skoda telling me I could buy it and bca offering me to quote for it. Sadly it's going back as we don't need such a big car or one that quick/powerful any more. You can't use the power as it is on the public road and keep your license and I can't drive more than a little briskly with the family in the car anyway. Someone is gonna get a low mileage v good condition 68 plate vRS. Downsizing to a new 1 series 118i M Sport DCT :) But very happy with what we're going for and got a great deal over two years. The interior and leather seats are something else!
  3. Simple with the DSG have e handbrake and autohold function so I can sit at lights etc foot off the brake without needing to knock it to neutral and put the handbrake on... I know thats fixed on the Mk4 This would make day to day driving so much easier. Less road and wind noise around the mirrors are nice to haves too.
  4. Hi Marty, mine isn't due back until early Nov so still another 6 months. You raise some good points though and I was seriously considering contacting VWFS to request to 'extend' the lease another 3 to 6 months. Informal sounds ok.. formal not so. I guess you have to ask them again for the T&Cs. I'm assuming the monthly 'rental' remains the same amount?
  5. So after another week of very short journeys I'll go and plug my ctek charger in.. it's sitting in the garage waiting to go I personally prefer to be proactive than need to call anyone out. My motorbike for which i can't currently get a mot (expired/sorn in Feb) was planning pre Corona to bring it out of hibernation this month has been on my aldi xs charger for more than 6 months in the garage.
  6. I'm sure in most cases if you usually use your car for commuting/some distance daily this will be fine leaving a few weeks. Our car for instance doesn't get used for commuting and usually only short distances during the week (pre-corona lockdown) - so over the winter months we've had issues with the battery being low so the car shuts down follow me home lights, interior lights etc and then at times reporting charge 12v battery on the maxidot. The warning signs are usually there way before in that even on a slightly longer weekend run the stop/start would never kick in. Its never been bad enough the car has never started though luckily and also I didn't want it to get to this state. So its been on the charger a couple of times over the winter months just to fully top up the battery I also stuck it on the charger when we went away first two weeks of march (while we still could luckily) - I know instantly when the battery is good as once up to temp the stop start is very aggressive at cutting the engine again
  7. Its the same CTEK charger I have.. there is a AGM mode.. front panel has an indicator. Just look on the picture you posted OP To make life even easier I bought comfort connector extension lead and the CTEK 12v/cig lighter adaptor, the sockets are live with ignition off on Octavias so you can charge off this.. no messing around under the bonnet. Charger lives locked in the garage flying lead comes from under the garage door goes under drivers door job inside the car done
  8. Similar question myself for Nov time period this year.. two left hand front/rear wheels curb interaction.. front way worse than yours. The PCH cars through VW/Skoda finance like mine goto BCA.. they use their guidelines for charging for damage. Who is your contract/agreement with?
  9. Mine was on the countdown day timer for an Oil Service which it would make sure it reminded you of on the maxidot when with ignition on and then off but actually ended up being serviced last week before it got down to zero days. So it didn't get to start pinging as overdue but again as stated it would just mean its ready for a service. Given they make such a big song and dance about washer fluid being empty.. the over the top shouty nature of their warning systems is the norm.
  10. Ok so maybe it did work and activate just fine. I remember mine once it activated it worked immediately. Try using the connect app to send a destination to the nav. Once you get the white globe it should auto import the online destination as it calls it.
  11. Hence I suggested (as you appear to have a proper internet connection from your phone but you said it doesn't activate/work) to try the home wifi trick to activate skoda connect first if you can.
  12. I know some have reported issues trying to get working tethered/hotspot connections from the infotainment to phones with EE sims. I have phone with hotspot/tethering perm activiated in the car using giffgaff(o2) generally without problem. If you have home wifi.. connect up the infotainment in the car to this parked at home to try to get the skoda connect activated this way and test it out. You need the WLAN globe to turn white to indicate its got an internet connection basically.
  13. So my car had its first service yesterday at just over 5700miles from new and 15months into my 24 month PCH. Probably not the cheapest price at £199 but then I have no affiliation with any dealer as its a VWFS/Skoda FS owned car. Can't fault driverline and Camberley service centre, they sorted out everything. Picked up from home 10am dropped back 5:30pm paid over the phone easy. No faults on the car just the battery which tested ok is a little low on charge but then it does short journeys for family stuff in the week only no commuting. In theory this should be the only service the car requires before it goes back in early Nov this year.
  14. Mine my19 245 vRS is going for its first oil service next week, whatever the dealer uses is fine by me, it's meeting the terms of its lease.
  15. Its kinda ironic, all the time I was looking but not ready to take a lease earlier on in 2018 there were stunning deals on 5 door cupras.. but you had to wait at least 6 months for delivery. By the time I was looking there were deals on the vRS and the boot size on top of this won it for me.
