  1. Hi I've got 2 questions for you knowledgable lot. Question 1, I've got a 1.4pd that's just clocked 100k and there is a quiet squeaking at idle after start up and I think it's the aux tensioner roller. I squirted some wd 40 on the centre of the pulley and the squeak went away. Having looked at the tensioner assembly it looks ike the pulley will come off by removing a torx bolt - see picture attached. Does anyone know if the pulley is available as a seperate part or maybe even I could just replace the bearings in the puley? 2nd question, any recommendations for a good quality rear silencer, mine was given an advisory in January on the MOT. Thanks
  2. Does it control the temp gauge on the dash too? If it dies then it seems to be working as its always done.
  3. Thanks, the fuse is good then. You say behind the dash.... any pointers on getting eyes on them? Drivers side? Passengers side? Thanks
  4. I'm not testing the glow plugs, I was testing the supply TO the plugs. I'd already tested the actual plugs and replaced the faulty ones. What's a CTS please?
  5. I've been having what I think is a temperature relayed starting issue. The car has always cracked into life pretty easily then a couple of months ago she turned over a little longer than normal so much so that I'd let the key go because it's normally away by then. I tried again and up she went. Another time same thing but when I re tried she struggled then seemed to crank/run on one/two cylinder then chugged her way into life. No issues for a while then I had a real chuggy episode so I tested and found 2 of the 3 glow plugs were dead. Replaced them last week and had one sluggish start this morning at 3 degrees c. This afternoon I tested the power to the glow plugs and I can't get a reading with the meter connected from with negative lead to negative battery post, positive to the connector that plugs onto the glow plug, ignition flicked to on and meter goes from 0.00v to 0.01v then back to 0.00v Where the hell is the relay!!? Or the fuse for that matter, the fuse board under the steering wheel doesn't have the coil symbol on the guide. Checked all fused on top of the battery and all good. Hope you can help 2009 1.4 pd BNV 80bhp.
  6. I'm considering cutting the factory plug off (male and female) and using 1 or 2 generic connectors at the same time as fitting the new gaiter and extending the wires. I've ordered a new (used) drivers window motor to try and sort my intermittent window and door open warning issues first. Let's see how that pans out!
  7. I've been plagued with electric window issues and now the drivers door is showing as constantly open. Whilst I'm investigating these issues again I'd like to replace the loom bellow/gaiter in the drivers door shut as the retaining clip is broken and it doesn't seal and keep the moisture out. Anyone know if this gaiter is available as a spare part on it's own either genuine or aftermarket? Thanks
  8. Brilliant thanks. I had a feel around for some kind of release clip but couldn't feel anything that would explain why! its hidden under the leather!! I'll give it a go later on and let you know!
  9. 2009 Non face lift 5J mk2 Trying to remove my centre console so I can change gear gaiter and put in a new fag 12v socket as this one is all corroded. Removed the arm rest - no problem removed all screws, no problem removed gear knob from shaft - no problem Console is nice and free, moves up and down no problem. The handbrake is too thick (leather) to allow the console to pull up past it! How the hell am I supposed to get the console out!? Does the hand brake leather cover come off? Thanks Colin
  10. Hi, I'm wanting to fit a tow bar to my (new to me) fabia mk2 2009 HATCHBACK (fabia 3 if that makes a difference). I'm confident with the bumper cutting and physically fitting the tow bar but is splicing into the rear lights etc for the electrics going to put warning lights on the dash etc. It's only for a bike rack not actually towing anything. Thanks
  11. Hi folks New to the world of the Skud and just bought a Fabia 1.4 Tdi for the daily haul into work and back, she is a 2009 fabia 3, looking forward to getting her repaired (wing and headlight) and on the road for the winter to save me a few pennies compared to using the van to get to work and back!
