  1. Regarding my engine vibration after cambelt change, unable to update as I am still out of country following a bereavement. Will report when have some useful feedback on issue, June or July hopefully, thanks.
  2. Think I will get spark plugs changed and ask for timing to be checked at same time. Due to family bereavement and travel plans, will probably not have time in near future. Will update when something to report, thank you for all replies, much appreciated.
  3. Now this has happened regret not having spark plugs changed, but bill was already £899 with unexpected MOT suspension bush work,
  4. Having just read article http://mechanexpert.com/timing-belt-replacement-on-mk7-golf-1-0-tsi the non-round pulley system might be an area of concern if not done correctly as could have potential to change balance of engine I would have thought, but would expect main Skoda dealer to do correctly with the right tools? Maybe question technician if get chance, thanks for info.
  5. Hi Toot, I had the "technician" that did the job, another one and a manager look at it in workshop, I held the engine at offending rpm 1200 (not typo 1100 rpm in post) and for them it was not excessive vibration in their opinion, ignoring the fact that there was none before which obviously I can't prove. Had it been at another rpm level it wouldn't be so bad, but slowing to stop or reversing DSG box often spends a time at this rpm especially when cold. As I can't suggest why this might have happened or how they might remedy it, will have to put up with it. Maybe if someone drove it not knowing how smooth it was before wouldn't be troubled by it. I was charged £550 for cambelt change, originally told £650 by office staff to include water pump, which was error as pump not driven by cambelt, but they didn't attempt to charge for it afterwards . I did expect them to say it might be because I didn't have spark plugs changed at cost of £115, will get this done next service, perhaps last at main dealer if prices are much above independents, but who's to say their service is better?
  6. Hi, following cambelt change at 5 years and 23k miles I now have quite noticeable engine vibration around 1100 rpm, fine at other rpms. Dealer says this vibration is normal for 3 cylinder engines, but it didn't do it before service and cambelt change and was very smooth previously. Engine can spend quite a time around 1100rpm in slow moving traffic with the DSG gearbox, so quite noticeable and irritating as there was no hint of vibration before. Any suggestions why this may have happened or similar experiences? Thanks.
  7. Thank you for all your replies, matter covered and concluded to my satisfaction :-)
  8. Hi, my Fabia recently had its first service and I was surprised to find that there was no Service logbook any longer, its now recorded only on Skoda's database. Now whilst you can keep the paper record of what was done, I like to know is going to be done to the car at certain intervals or mileage in the future. Has anyone found a way to find out what work should be done at the respective service intervals prior to having it done? What is required for service of the DSG was of interest as have heard oil changes can be expensive if required, but obviously not something to scimp on, so will be done whatever the cost, just nice to have a shock!
  9. Ok, thanks for replies. The dealer thought it should have a warning and diagnostics didn't show any problems, but they were not very convincing, so will wait and see. I don't let the washer bottle level drop too far normally, but with salted roads in the winter it's surprising how much water you use on a long motorway trip. I do always carry a bottle of water for several reasons anyway, but stopping to fill up on motorways is not an option. I did go for the heated screen wash option when i ordered the car so don't know if that has made any difference, unlikely I would have thought. It's a pre-facelift SEL version, so if fitted at all would think this model would have it. Thank you.
  10. Hi, can anyone tell me if they have had warning when their screen washer bottle gets near empty? According to the handbook 2 symbols should appear, I assume with a warning noise like my old Focus. My washer fluid ran out completely, but I had no warning that I could see or hear. Thank you.
  11. Yes, figures for consumption and emissions do only allow for comparisons between vehicles and not what you might get in the real world, but acceleration figures shouldn't be affected by the new regulations you quote. I'm not sure if earlier figures for my car were subject to the regulations you quote or not, can't find it in the paperwork I have. Guess this is the price we pay for cleaner air, which we all want
  12. Hi, I thought the Fabia just out was only a facelift too, until I compared the performance of it to the one I bought earlier this year. The latest version is worse in nearly all respects, considerably slower acceleration, less m.p.g. and higher co2 emissions, see my crude cut and paste chart attached. It has put my friend off upgrading his 3 year old Fabia, seems like a retrograde step!
