  1. Reply from NEXTBASE Hello, The cables are shielded they must be otherwise they will not meet the EU requirement standard to have the CE logo on the product. BUT this doesn't stop some vehicles/DABs being particularly susceptible to interference - it can depend on how the excess is wrapped, what other accessories you have and what other preventative measures have been taken. There is no way of knowing without fitting it, there are steps that can be taken to reduce it should it be a problem when fitted.
  2. Thanks Aspman. That is really helpful. Confirmed what I thought the issue was. With the cable being routed through the headlining it's going to be quite close to the aerial mount so will need a shielded cable in that area to stop interference. The dealer will fit either the Nextbase kit or Skoda's equivalent and hopefully those will include that type of cable. From what I have seen of the camera there is only a single cable attached so the video feed and the power cores must be shielded otherwise the thing would surely not function - noise on the video signal. I pinged a note to Nextbase with a question about the cable as this thread maybe of interest to others.
  3. Hi all I'm planning to have a Nextbase 322 GW with the seperate rear camera fitted by hard-wiring at my local Skoda dealer. (My 65 plate Scout is on a PCP plan so using the dealer is the only option) While looking at my options a couple of the reviews I came across said the DAB reception no longer worked. No prizes for guessing the car make and model was not mentioned - the only detail was rear mounted aerial. I use DAB in the car constantly so do not want to go to the expense of having the rear window camera fitted only to find DAB gone. The alternative is the plug in rear camera (probably less quality) but DAB and a saving in the wallet! Has anyone had this issue? If so was there a workaround? The person I spoke to at the dealer told me the combination I want is frequently fitted by them never mentioned any problems like this but then again at that time I wasn't aware there may be an issue. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  4. Thanks all - really much appreciated. Only concerned about the Bluetooth connectivity for phone use as I use a USB drive for music. The reply I received from Skoda was that the Nokia 7 plus had not been tested, tried the VW compatibility lists too - again not listed. I have never had an issue with pairing before in my other cars but was using HTC and Samsung phones so I maybe being a bit over cautious. Looking at a Sony XZ1 now as an alternative (Yay! It's listed!) it also looks a bit less fragile; always a bonus over a cracked screen! What ever I choose I'll post an update as others may have similar questions. Really pleased with my Scout even though the fuel gauge issue struck but luckily the car is still under Warranty so that was good and based on lots of posts on this site I invested in a spare wheel. Not had to use it but one day up a muddy track somewhere...... Thanks again
  5. Hi All I've got a 2015 Scout estate with Amundsen Infotainment. My current phone - a Samsung S6 is paired with it and has worked perfectly. The contract is now up and I'm looking to replace that phone with a Nokia 7 Plus with Android 8. When I input the VIN into the compatibility checker Nokia 7 is not listed but oddly 6 and 8 are. The Nokia 8 is listed with Android 8 and shows to be fully compatible - the Nokia 6 ( running Android 7.5) is not listed as being in any way supported. My guess is that as the Nokia 7 Plus is Android 8 it should work but I would like to be confident that it does before I get the phone (I've sent an email to Skoda too) Has anyone out there got a Nokia 7 Plus and using it with Amundsen or other units? If so can you share your experience please? Thanks in advance
