  1. Any area of the disc in particular? I've attached one but it's not the best. Can easily take another if required. Thanks
  2. Hi, I'm needing new rear discs on my 2011 VRS CR TDi but struggling to determine what size they are (without taking the wheel off and measuring) - seems that they changed from 286mm to 272mm sometime around 2010/2011. Anyone know exactly when they changed or is there an easy way to determine what discs are on my car? When I use sites such as eurocarparts they give me both options (plus 260 & 255mm). I have Bosch callipers if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance
  3. The Eibach springs in the catalogue have been discontinued. I done a deal including the supply and fit of the springs only to later be told they can no longer get them. Instead I purchased the springs from Awesome GTI and supplied them to the dealer and they took the price of the Skoda springs off my order. Saved me money as Skoda had the springs priced at approx £200 and Awesome only £150.
  4. I had a similar problem: My link Probably worth noting that I originally done the deal for the car on the condition it wasn't registered until 2011 plus my car didn't actually arrive at the dealer until 21st December although it was in the UK early December.
  5. 18s are too big for winter - 18" winter tyres cost a fortune! Already got my 17s sitting there for winter. My car's already lowered on Eibachs, got them fitted during the pre-delivery inspection. According to the wheel offset calculator I should only have 5mm less clearance on the inside. Now i'm very tempted
  6. Correct, they are accessory wheels for an A4 and A5. Look quite similar to the TTRS and new RS3 wheels though too. What is the width and offset of the standard 18s so I can use the calculator? 8" and 51mm sticks in my head. Is that right or am I thinking of my Scirocco? :S They are quite harsh for everyday use but it's fine in the summer when the roads tend to be better. Just bought 17" Pro Race 1 wheels for winter tyres as well so I think either the 19s or the standard 18s will have to go. Girlfriend isn't too happy with the 17s sitting in the dining room right now since the garage is full Decisions, decisions!
  7. Thanks! That was unbelievably quick! Much quicker than rolling them out the garage I'm not sure. Opinions please guys?!
  8. I'm needing someone to do me a favour with photoshop I had put some 19" Audi wheels on my Scirocco but when I traded it in for my VRS I switched it back to the standard wheels. The question now is do I put the wheels on my VRS or sell them assuming they fit? So firstly can someone confirm a 19" x 8.5j wheel, pcd 5x112, offset 43 with a 235/35 tyre will fit and secondly is anyone able to give me an idea of what it would look like using photoshop? It would be a lot quicker than changing it and I really can't be bothered in this weather! Not seen an Octavia with these wheels on it before. The 19s would not be going on until summer if I do keep them. I've put a few photos of my wheels below, not really sure what is required for photoshop though. Not got any pictures of my white VRS yet but i'm sure there's plenty pics on here  Thanks in advance!
  9. It's amazing what an email to Autoexpress Consumer Advice, copied to the CEO of Skoda UK can do! The garage have phoned this morning to say Skoda contacted them this morning telling them they can honour the original deal and I have to collect my car at the start of 2011. One happy customer again :-) Not sure why I had to contact Skoda myself and the dealer couldn't though. This experience won't put me off buying another Skoda but I may be reluctant to use the same dealer again. Thanks for all your thoughts / comments.
  10. My big problem is the principal of it as I specifically agreed prior to placing my deposit that it was registered in 2011. This is part of the reason for my decision to order the car as Seat weren't willing to delay registration on a Leon FR, which is the other car I was looking at. I have no problem with it being registered within 10 working days of arriving at the dealers - my car has not arrived yet. Due to the backlog at the port and the continuing bad weather, there is the possibility it won't be at the dealers this year. It certainly doesn't look like it will be ready for collection before Christmas.
  11. I have emailed consumer advice at Autoexpress seeking advice and also copied the CEO of Skoda UK in on the email. I find it amazing that my family have bought 5 Skodas in recent years and I personally have spent over £50k with the dealership in 3 years, yet get treated like this.
  12. I had a reply from the dealer regarding my idea: "Thank you for trying to find a solution but your proposal means that the car will still be registered outwith the cut off date which is 31st December meaning that the campaign money will not be paid at the current level. The invoicing aspect is irrelevant to the transaction. I am not trying to be difficult or obstructive I am simply carrying out the instructions of Skoda UK who dictate all bonus payments made to me as a franchise holder. These circumstances were not in place when you ordered your new car or we wouldn’t be asking for you to take it this year." So basically they aren't willing to help me at all as they are worried about their bonus!
  13. Thanks Kev. At least I know my logic makes sense to more than just me! Will let you know how I get on tomorrow.
  14. Right........i've had a look at the HMRC website regarding the VAT increase and I can not see any reason why I cannot get my car registered for 1st-3rd Jan and collect then? http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/forms-rates/rates/rate-rise-guidance.pdf The dealers argument is they do not receive any additional financial support from Skoda for the VAT increase if it's not registered this year so will have to pay 2.5% more, however there will not be any additional VAT as long as I am invoiced before the 4th Jan. Any flaws in my argument? Thanks!
  15. Unfortunately I didn't receive an order form at the time of order as their system was down so only have my credit card receipt. I trusted the garage as this is the third car I have purchased from them in under 4 years, a total of over £50,000! So much for a valued customer..........
  16. I am more than happy for it to be registered between the 1st and 3rd January prior to the VAT increase or even pay the balance this year but neither option seems acceptable to them. The thing that really confuses me is I could order a new one today which won't be delivered for 6 months and yet they will still honour the 17.5% VAT rate but not on my one because it arrived in the UK one day early!
  17. The car definitely can't be registered as I believe they need my V5, insurance and tax disc as I am transferring my number plate onto it at first registration. The car has not even arrived at the dealer as it only arrived in the UK on Monday. They say they would register it in January if they could but Skoda won't allow it, and they have met all targets etc already.
  18. I ordered an Octavia VRS TDi in September and stated at the time of order that I did not want the car registered until 2011 regardless of when it arrived. The dealer agreed to this as he said as long as I ordered before the end of September, the price was fixed regardless of delivery. Today they emailed to say that as my car arrived in the UK on Monday 13th, it must be registered this year as the cut off Skoda states is 14th Dec. After a meeting with the manager they agreed to give me £200 off the purchase price which I am not happy with as they are changing the terms of the deal. I understand it is Skoda enforcing this but they should not have agreed at the time I made the deal or informed me of this restriction. I had a look on Parkers at the difference in trade-in value between a 2008 and 2009 registered 58 plate and it is over £1000. Any advice as to what I should do? I'm currently thinking about cancelling my order. The money isn't the thing annoying me most, it's the fact they are changing a deal we agreed on. Thanks.
  19. I've just ordered a set of 17" winter tyres, since this winter is starting off as bad as last year, for my Octavia VRS which i'm due to collect in a couple of weeks. I've found a good deal on some 17 x 7" wheels to mount them on but they have an offset of 35. I know the standard 18s have an offset of 51 and 7.5" wide so the new wheels would stick out 10mm more and have an additional 22mm inside clearance. Is this acceptable? The 10mm won't be enough to bring the wheel outside the arches but should fill them a bit better. Is there any technical reason why you shouldn't put a wheel with 35mm offset on the Octavia? Thanks in advance!
  20. Looks like i've been very lucky: Order Date ...............Colour...............Type...............Spec...............Engine...............Production Mid Sept....................White.................Hatch..............Manual...........Diesel...............Build Wk46 Options are maxidot, light assist, xenons, spare wheel, MDI plus getting Eibachs dealer fitted. Seems to be one of the shortest waits here so should have it for the first week in January as planned.
  21. Hope this is right! I ordered a new VRS at the end of last week...............this would mean I would get an 11 plate :-) Trade in value and VAT is fixed for me regardless of when I get my car.
  22. There's only one way to find out! :-) Should look good providing they don't stick out beyond the arches hence making them illegal.
  23. Thanks guys. I assume neither of you had mats on your order so appears they are standard on a VRS? I'll phone the dealers on monday and get them removed from the order and front mudflaps added in their place. Found the info I require about wheel offsets. Looks like my Audi wheels will be a perfect fit :-)
  24. I ordered an Octavia VRS yesterday and was told that they would honour the 17.5% rate regardless of delivery date providing the car was ordered before the end of September. That is in line with another post I have read on here. Cheers
  25. Hey everyone! After a 18 month absense from Briskoda i'm back. Was the owner of a Fabia VRS SE for a couple of years but traded that for a Scirocco 1.4tsi 18 months ago. Done a deal on a new Octavia VRS CR today - candy white, zenons, maxidot, MDI, full size spare, light assist and eibach springs. As much as i love the look of the scirocco, I wanted to go back to a diesel and needed something a bit bigger plus I have had a few issues with the Scirocco engine recently. Don't know when i'll see the car but won't be til January at the earliest which suits me as i'd rather it was registered in 2011. Price is fixed as i ordered before the end of September regardless of VAT increase. Got a few questions which I would appreciate if someone could answer. I know the answers are probably somewhere on here already but i'm lazy and some of the info I have seen seems contradictory. 1. Does the VRS come with mats from the factory and do they have the VRS logo? I know my fabia vrs did. The salesman didn't seem to think so and they were added to my order as a factory option at £46. 2. Is it correct only the front octavia mudflaps will fit correctly, without modification / heat? I will ask the dealer to supply and fit the front mudflaps if it turns out mats should be supplied free with the car. 3. What is the offset of the standard 18s? I am planning to put my 19s from my Scirocco on it which are OEM audi a4 BBS alloys with a 43 offset and 8.5" wide. Thanks in advance and I look forward to being a Skoda driver again!
