Help! I need to replace the (worn out, ineffective) door strap on the driver's door, so: 1. I bought replacement part. 2. I then realised that removing/replacing the door strap needs access from 'inside' the door (is this conclusion correct?). 3. I removed the door panel (breaking only one trim clip, and the warning light at the bottom of the panel, in the process). 4. Found that there is a second (metal) panel, riveted in place, blocking and sealing off access to the cavity where the main body of the door strap sits. 5. There is no '5' yet - what do I need to do next to get this 'simple, straightforward job' finished off? 🤣 Do I need to drill out the rivets (but the window mechanism/motor is bolted to that, so the job suddenly starts getting more complex - and I would also need to start buying and fitting riv-nuts to reattach it)? Maybe I could just carefully cut out an 'inspection/access hatch' in the metal liner over where the door strap is located - having replaced the strap I could then just put a plate over the hole and either rivet it into place (I have plain rivets and riveting tool in the toolbox), or fasten it with self-tappers. Are there any other options you can recommend? Is there a 'proper' way to do this 'simple' maintenance job, or is it always going to inevitably be a bit of a dogs breakfast? Any thoughts? Thanks all. Thanks Chester - the picture of the underside is really useful as it shows just what the size/position of the cut-out needs to be ... I'm presuming (from earlier comments) that this is cut out from a plastic trim - is that right?

Got as far the Radio Service Mode screen, but no option for 'Version Info' (see attached photo) ... Any thoughts ... anyone?

We're looking to get a detachable towbar fitted to our Karoq. We've almost settled on a 'TowTrust' model but wanted to know if it would need the bodywork/bumber cutting. The technician said - "see if you've already got a gap/panel/hole under the back, in which case you wouldn't need it cutting" but I'm not really sure where I should be looking! Any ideas or guidance, please? Also, should I be so precious about him cutting a chunk of panel out, anyway? Thanks! Stom

Hi - I have issues with the Bolero head unit in my 2009 Octavia Mk II 'Elegance' ... It's a lovely drive BUT if I try to play audio tracks (MP3 format) from the SD card it takes a year and a day to access the directories I have on there, or to start playing the tracks on the root. Once it starts playing then it's absolutely fine - just as long as you don't try to skip from the root directory (which holds a collection of random 'most played' tracks) to any of the subfolders I've set up, each of which is defined by artist and album, in which case you have to endure a few minutes of silence whilst it does all its thinking and you slowly and painfully navigate through the directory structure. My understanding is that this is a problem with the unit's firmware, which needs to be updated. So ... last year I spent some time digging around the internet for answers, but have since forgotten (and lost) all the useful stuff I found. My local dealership has just quoted me the thick-end of £170 just to to identify the current firmware version, and then the same again per hour, or part thereof, to upgrade it. Hmmm ... £340 just for faster tunes? That seems a bit steep, especially when it's my understanding that, for more recent incarnations of the car/head unit, updates are delivered over-air, for free ??? Can anyone shed any light on: 1 - whether my understanding of the issue and its fix is right? 2 - how to find out the version number of the current firmware installation? 3 - what updated firmware version should I be looking for? 4 - how can I get hold of said updated version and install it?
