  1. Reference VAGCCF's comment regarding the gutless 1.6 diesel. I rejected our 1.5 sel Tsi petrol some time ago for kangaroo and flat spot second gear problems and decided to go for the 1.6 TDI DSG .I don't find it at all gutless. So far it's done 3200 miles and it drives really well. Low down torque when required and some punch when overtaking. Strange how some of these motors seem to differ. I suppose a lot depends on what satisfies one driver doesn't satisfy another. We all have opinions, I would recommend anyone to take a test drive and make up your own mind, gutless or not gutless.
  2. My 1.6tdi Karoq sel has only done 1800 miles and today when started up displayed the low coolant warning. After raising the bonnet discovered the coolant level was very low.It required over 400mls. Like everyone on here I was very surprised at this and will be monitoring the levels.
  3. Gaz 1985, I think you have me mixed up with Xtra2- it was his vehicle put back on sale. I don't know what my dealer has done with my ex- vehicle. I know I would check the vehicle history if I bought a used car, no matter what dealer. I hope you would too. I would imagine that anyone reading this forum wouldn't bother touching a 1.5 TSi manual, so knowing the registration number probably wouldn't be of benefit.
  4. After investigation by the dealership, the kangarooing on our Karoq 1.5Tsi manual was confirmed. Later that same day I met with the general manager and handed in a letter of rejection together with the keys to the vehicle, which we had owned for 28 days. Within the letter we stated we required a replacement vehicle or a full refund. We also said that we did not want a Karoq with a petrol engine preferring a return to diesel. We were told that Skoda UK were still not accepting the kangarooing as an actual fault. However I pointed out that we had not bought the vehicle from Skoda UK. Our dealership were very fair and decent and the situation was dealt with calmly and professionally. I received a telephone call later the same day asking us to confirm that we would be happy to receive a replacement vehicle. Two weeks later we were the owners of a new 68 plate Karoq 1.6Tdi Sel Dsg, same colour as before with 9 delivery miles on the clock; a straight swop. It now has 700 miles on the clock, no kangarooing, no flat spots. Diesel was our choice and at the moment we are very happy with the car. My wife and I hope that all the people on this site get their 1st gear problem sorted and we wish you well. But please remember you bought your vehicle from a dealer, not Skoda UK and you have to be prepared to go all the way. Our dealer was prepared to listen and dealt fairly with us. We would also like to thank all those on this thread for the information we gathered.
  5. Purchased this Karoq 28 days ago, first registered to me on 68 plate..?
  6. Sad555 I'm not sure if you read my post properly. I don't know what you mean when you say (they told me what I wanted to hear) and (they fobbed me off) and (off I went) If you read it again you'll see that I didn't hear what I wanted to hear. That being " We will replace your car sir" I wasn't fobbed off, as the vehicle is booked in for investigation on Thursday! and yes off I went. I may end up as frustrated as a lot of people on this site appear to be. I have had dealings with Skoda HQ before! But as I said earlier, let's wait and see what happens.
  7. You might be right- that's why I said, "At the moment".
  8. It would appear that you have had problems and I understand your frustration. However, I really don't think that putting up cartoons of monkeys on this thread helps the problem. Especially as I suggested to the people at the dealership that they should visit this site to gauge owner's concerns. At the moment the people I am in contact with at the dealership seem to be decent . Let's see what happens.
  9. Yes we did speak with the service dept, who stated they were not aware of this problem. It would appear having spoken with sales staff they are selling mainly DSG vehicles. I must admit, I would buy another Karoq but not with this engine.
  10. Spoke with the sales Manager at our dealership today. He was unaware of the problem and to his knowledge we are the first to complain. Fortunately we had taken a four page sample of posts from this site- he was clearly surprised at the extent of this problem. He telephoned Skoda customer Services in our presence and spoke with 2 people there , both stating no knowledge of this first gear problem. We suggested he spoke to the Skoda tech team, which he did and they confirmed there was a problem and were working on a software fix, but had no idea when this would come about. Our vehicle is booked in for investigation at the dealership on Thursday : we'll take it from there. This is our 5th Skoda and we have been with this dealership for a number of years. At the present time we believe them to be genuine - we hope our belief in them is justified.
  11. Just attended an Armistice concert, kangaroo'd through the gravel car park in front of 150 people: very embarrassing. This is happening all the time, and we've only had the TSi 1.5 manual for 3 weeks!
  12. Xman is correct, vehicle sometimes stalls with no response. Didn't quite understand boxerboys response regarding pussyfooting around in higher gears to save fuel. I don't recall doing that. I may have to alter the way I manage this. But I don't know what we can do about the kangaroo, have seen the other thread and will put my two Pennyworth on there.
  13. We recently bought a new Karoq 1.5tsi petrol with manual gearbox. After leaving the showroom we encountered a flat spot when changing down to second gear at around 8 miles an hour. There was no take up at all. I initially put this down to new car inexperience. Shortly after, it happened again at a roundabout when I wanted to take advantage of of a gap in traffic and again no power when changing to second gear at around 7 or 8 miles an hour. Within a week I took the car back to the dealership who put it on the fault finder and told me there was nothing wrong with the car. Apparently my wife and I have to adjust our driving style to suit the vehicle. We explained that we felt vulnerable with the vehicle not having power when required and explained that during a trip to Lincoln we found ourselves drifting into traffic on a busy roundabout, because the vehicle wouldn’t pull away. The staff at the dealership were sympathetic and it was suggested that we change down to first gear while the vehicle is still in motion, below 8 miles an hour. Has anyone else on this forum had this problem and if not may I suggest you try changing down to second gear at below 8 miles an hour to test your vehicle’s reactions. We also have the kangaroo in first gear, especially when the vehicle is cold.
