Key replacement
Thank you both for your advice. Thankfully I found the key. I’ll be more careful going forward. The third party key provider quoted £800. Skoda won’t provide a quote unless I came to the garage, with the car, V5, and the other key. I assume it wouldn’t be cheaper than the third party. Once again thank you for responding.

Water pump replacement - DIY, or Mechanic with Van,
Very sage advice. I couldn’t see how for £250 the man with the van could make any profit. Presumably he’d suck on his tooth and then start building the real price once he’s got the car. Your comments re warranties are well made and very insightful. I opted for the traditional garage and was delighted when the actual price came considerably less than the original budget price.

Water pump replacement - DIY, or Mechanic with Van,
I've been told by my local garage that the water pump on my 2018 Skoda seven seater needs to be replaced. They have given me a price and timeslot. Unfortunately, this is sometime in the future and I really need to sort it out sooner. Is this the sort of job that can be done by a competent DIY car owner or should it be left to a professional mechanic? If the latter, what are forum members' views regarding using mechanic with a van doing the repair on the driveway? Or is this type of repair really one that can only really be done in a workshop? But what actually is involved in ‘replacing the water pump’? I’m certain that other components probably should be replaced perhaps could be reused in order to cut costs but maybe at reduce reliability.

Head light condensation
Quick update regarding the missing inside the front driver side headlight. Misting has now all gone with the advent of a couple of warm days that we have enjoyed in St Albans recently. Thank you all for your input. It has been most useful and reassuring.

Head light condensation
My car has been with a vehicle repair company for a month after a minor collision requiring the replacement of the front bumper and grill. Happy with the repair work and customer service. On return I noticed there was a small amount of condensation in the driver’s side head lamp. The vehicle repair company said that this is sometimes happens when a car is not used for sometime and it will clear over time and with use. I thought these were sealed units. Is the vehicle repairers advice sound? Grateful for advice and views of forum members.

Kodiaq 2018 Availability of Body Panels
Hi Tom, Thanks for sharing. I’m pleased to say that the grill turned-up Thursday last week. Seems a long wait for such an obvious item that will be routinely damage in accidents. Hopefully you’ll not be waiting to long 'till you get yours.

Kodiaq 2018 Availability of Body Panels
On January 15 I had a prang in my Kodiaq. Thankfully only the front bumper and grill were damaged. Lights all ok Put the car into the body shop recommended by the insurer. I've been told that the grill is on 'back order' with no delivery date being available from Skoda. Just received text from my insurer advising a notional date of February 28 but no firm guarantee that the needed parts will be available then. Seems a very long time for what I would have thought would be a very popular replacement part. Is this the norm with Skoda? Grateful if other forum members would share their experiences re availability of panels for body repairs.

Antifreeze G40 — Specification advice
Thank you all for your advice. Deionised water is the way to go. So thank you for your advice not to use tap water. Likewise the clarification/correction about the right anti freeze to use. Will go down that path. Much appreciated.

Antifreeze G40 — Specification advice

Kodiaq 2018 petrol TSI DSG 7 seater 1500cc — coolant quantity
Thanks Toot. Comment well made and I understand your reasoning. My rational re publishing the dye query in the other forum was that the post might be of wider interest to Skoda owners in general rather than just Kodiaq owners. Again thank you for your suggestion. Best wishes Robert

Coolant leak — Use of UV dye
Thanks Nigel, I've invested in a dye kit and torch from a supplier on eBay. Should be here in a couple of days. In the meantime I've checked the oil filler cap to see if there is any evidence of water in the oil evidence by a white frothy deposit. There is no such deposit. Check the reservoir. Coolant is at maximum. Mileage 35787. What I intend to do next. First check the stains on the drive don't fluoresce under UV light. Use the car for a couple of weeks to see how much reservoir level has dropped. Add dye. Top up. Continue using then check engine and drive. Bob

Coolant leak — Use of UV dye
I have a small coolant leak evidenced by staining on drive. It takes about 8 weeks for the level to drop to a point that a warning message is displayed. 700ml top up resolves the situation. Garage says it cannot find a leak. I have read on forums that UV fluorescent dye can be added to the coolant reservoir which may show the position of the leak. I need advice about: trade names of suitable dyes; where to get these; and how much dye to add? I presume the last item will require details of how much water is in a Kodiaq coolant system. My car is a 2018 Kodiaq 7 seater DSG 1495 petrol. I look forward to receiving the help and guidance of forum members.
