The Eurostar rep said that they would refund the train ticket but we had to buy our own ferry ticket.

I was on Eurostar yesterday :( Left Paris ok and it was all going well until we stopped at Calais for about an hour and a half. Then they said the train was going back to Paris and if we wanted to get a ferry instead then to get off the train. Cue mass exodus Coach to the ferry terminal then 3 hours of chaos queueing to buy a ferry ticket. Coach to Ashford then Eurostar to London. Finally arrived at St Pancras at 12:40. If Eurostar actually have a contingency plan for this sort of thing then it didn't work all that well - there was very little information given out - especially on the French side of the Channel
