  1. Totally agree, if the car had gone through a PDI they must have known. My dealer never had a 1.5 available for test drives, always came up with excuses. Only diesels were registered and please don't say its because they couldn't get hold of the petrols, as I had a choice of two in the showroom !! this was before it became common knowledge about the FAULT. Now that it is being talked about more widely, would you buy a used Karoq ? I certainly wouldn't. Will never trust a dealer again.
  2. I'm really surprised at this. Manual diesels should have no problem pulling away at very low revs, including modern diesels. That's why I liked them so much, they suited my lazy driving style perfectly. DO NOT let the dealer fob you off with statements like "it's your driving style". There is obviously something very wrong with your car and it could be a safety issue, should it happen when you are pulling out into fast moving traffic. How long can dealers keep telling people they don't know how to drive !!!
  3. I'm still waiting for the reply from "The Manufacturer" which was due at the end of Feb, after submitting the complaint at the beginning of Feb. Don't hold your breath.
  4. If this is a new car, read the posts in the link provided above. If it also has other traits that are mentioned in the posts i.e. lack of acceleration, still juddering when engine has reached operating temp etc. then from my own experience of not being firm enough, I would take it back to the dealer and either demand a refund or a replacement car. You may be left, like a lot of us who are and have been waiting for a supposed fix due sometime never. Just surprised (perhaps not) that the dealer sold the car KNOWING there was a FAULT with it.
  5. Can't say I would want it back after it's been stood immobile collecting dust and industrial pollution on the unprotected paintwork.
  6. I think if the car has already been registered and the finance etc is allotted to that reg number, finance companies can get quite shirty if you don't inform them. Once had some threatening letters from a finance company when I used their 0% interest offer to buy a car and changed the reg from the one the dealer registered it as. I think they see it as someone trying to pull a fast one.
  7. As I've mentioned before, I defy anybody who has the "issue" to manouevre smoothly and safely in a car park especially when setting off from cold. To be aware that cars may just reverse out of a space or an errant trolley pusher , 2000 rpm is just too fast and on a slight downward slope it is made worse and changing into second is not an option. And not forgetting the lack of power when trying to judge a gap in traffic safely in second gear. Before anybody else tells me solutions to avoid kangarooing, I've tried them all mentioned in previous posts- high octane fuel, various modes, auto stop-start disabled, setting off in first without touching the accelerator, waiting for the idle rpm to steady before setting off etc etc etc NONE have eradicated the issue. Are people really saying that before they got a Karoq, they used to rev the engine to 2000rpm before letting the clutch out !
  8. I've just visited a friend on a Caravan Club site, where they have a speed limit of 5 mph due to children on site etc. Left the site after an hour or so, engine had cooled down. It was impossible to drive around the site to the exit at such low speed i.e. needing to be in 1st gear (2nd too high). The car was kangarooing badly, has anybody else tried to drive any distance in 1st gear with a cool engine. It was a b***** nightmare, looked like a right numpty kangarooing.
  9. Strangely, after travelling over 50 miles, only two days ago, I stopped at some traffic lights. On setting off the engine died and stalled (I've never had it actually stall before) so I quickly depressed the clutch (an automatic reaction on my part) and it started immediately. I always disengage the stop-start before starting a journey, so it was definitely off. The rest of the journey was back to normal i.e juddering and slow take up of power.
  10. Anybody else had a reply ? I emailed but haven't heard anything back from them. I'd be only too willing to tell them my story I got a reply from DVSA, Interesting that "the media" are beginning to sit up and take notice now. Perhaps VWAG will now do something.
  11. In the past 17 years I have had 8 new VW group cars (3 Golfs, 3 Audi A3s and two VW Californias). I don't expect perfection, they are complex items, however, it has been the attitude of the VW group that is "disgusting". This has been a problem for some owners for nearly a year now and all we keep getting told, is that there MAY be a software update in the FUTURE which may enhance the driving experience. Skoda have already said that it will not fix the FAULT. To carry on selling vehicles with a "characteristic" to unsuspecting customers through dealers who are only to happy to take your money and then leave you with a vehicle which may be impossible to trade-in in the future speaks volume for their customer values. An engine that can't be driven smoothly from start up when cold has a PROBLEM in these days of automatic chokes. OK, the Fault is most noticeable when cold. BUT, like many others, mine has the dangerous fault of not pulling away cleanly on part throttle when entering a roundabout and I am talking about speeds in excess of 10 mph. Flooring the accelerator does nothing whatsoever. Luckily I am aware of this so wait for a decent gap in the traffic. I asked the Customer Services Agent whether they had actually driven a Karoq with this "characteristic", not surprisingly NO was the response. They therefore had no right to the say it was just a characteristic and not a safety issue A very wise decision, if only I was in the same position. I would love to have my part ex back, which was sold within two days on the forecourt.
  12. Just had another look at the "Honest John" website page about this. I can't believe that VW dealers are going to charge customers if no fault shows up on the diagnosis. That really is taking the p***. Talk about arrogance, they are just playing us as fools. I don't think my car was checked anyway, once the technician had witnessed the FAULT during the test run, immediately after I had just driven 20 miles there (so no cold engine) it would have been pointless. He knew what the outcome was going to be. The more people put comments on Honest John the more likely people will take notice and prompt action from the lying b******* at VW group. I expect a lot more owners will now realise what they have bought and it is not down to driving style. Last VW group car for me and hopefully many others.
  13. I seem to think that I recently read that someone with a 2.0 tdi Golf Estate was in the same situation (on one of the car sites). He had been waiting since October. Have VW been fiddling again
  14. Can't offer any advice but there was a similar problem with VW Californias just over a year ago. They were held back at the dealers because, I believe, that VW had not got the correct emissions data for tax classification.
  15. Could be just a build up of corrosion on the disks. With such a low mileage and on short journeys you may need to apply the brakes hard every so often to clean the disks.
  16. Well done, your persistence has paid off. Handing the keys and paperwork back and leaving it with the dealer is the only way to get rejection. The dealers will hide behind Skoda's statement that it is a characteristic but in reality the car wasn't purchased from Skoda, it was purchased from ******* . If your washing machine is faulty and can't be repaired you don't send it back to the manufacturer, it goes back to where you bought it from. Any dealer that has the audacity to deny that they nothing about this issue and this is the first for them, should be treated with the contempt they deserve. We have all been guilty of being too polite. LittleOwl has shown what an be achieved. I just wish I had carried on when I first tried to reject mine. I gave in too easily and have now resigned to hoping that they do deliver on a solution.
  17. See my earlier post, I reported similar. I think we are both getting finely tuned in to noticing how the car is driving. Sometimes, although I can't explain clearly, it seems to drive really weird as though one driving wheel is faster than it's pair yet at other times, excepting the kangarooing, it drives like a dream. If you are sensitive on the pedals you can feel it. Like an F1 driver, perhaps I am becoming super sensitive to every element of it's driving behaviour. Will have to start driving in my hiking boots and turning up the music. Never driven a car like this before.
  18. They still keep saying it is only until temp reaches normal operating temp. That is not true, there are plenty including myself, where there is still hesitation after a long trip. I have told my dealer and Skoda this fact but they still choose to ignore it.
  19. Sounds good BUT I would put a lottery win on you being no further forward or knowing any new further developments. Skoda Customer Services are NOT customer focused as Skoffski has said, they just play you along. I have stopped ringing them (it costs a fortune waiting for a connection) and they just have stalling tactics for email requests. They are HOPELESS, p;ease don't put any faith in them. They will tell you what you hope to hear, nothing definite in anyway.
  20. No doubt you will have been given the standard service report i.e. Tests showed no reported system faults, road test did show juddering, TPI from Skoda is that they are aware of this issue and are working on a solution. When fix is available Skoda will inform the customer. or words to that effect. +1 same result Skoda's attitude to this problem is absolutely appalling. From the word go they have stated that it is a characteristic. They have never yet put in writing that it is not a safety issue despite requests from numerous owners. Regarding the dealers, I would not trust any who have said that they were not aware of this problem, after mid October, as Skoda made dealers aware of it with a TPI on the 19th ? October. The dealers are hardly going to say " yes Mr _____ we are fully aware of the problem with your car that we sold to you, as other owners have already complained. Sorry we didn't pick up this fault during the PDI.
  21. I will be very surprised if Skoda UK will accept rejection of the car. They will state that it is a "characteristic" of the engine. I know it isn't, it's a fault, but if you want to reject you must be willing to take the car back to the dealers, leave it with them and hand back the keys demanding a refund by letter. You may then have to make a claim in court (small claims) if the dealer doesn't accept rejection. There are plenty of guidelines on the net for the process. If you have taken your car in already and have been given the fob off of "awaiting a fix", then in reallity you have given them the opportunity to repair it and they have failed. I am sure there are a few on this forum who have tried to reject. I know of only one successful claimant and he was in Ireland. If it was an easy process of just asking for the car to be taken back there would be a big queue at the dealers and I would be in it. A more successful approach could be a group claim from all owners. I am not trying to put people off, just make sure you're prepared for all the hassle and loss of transport etc. Sean 191 I am absolutely amazed that a Skoda dealer that covers an area like Birmingham has never heard of the problem. It's ike the other dealer who had never heard of it but offered a suggestion on how to reduce the problem. How much longer are dealers going to give out this ****
  22. Had this problem a few times now, luckily no bad outcome. Happens when say approaching a roundabout and trying to time the break in the traffic. Change down on approach to second, brake slightly but keep rolling well, at least 10mph, foot on accelerator NOTHING, press harder STILL NOTHING then very very slowly will pick up speed and then engines revving like hell. First gear is for starting off once rolling, second gear should keep momentum no matter what type of engine diesel or petrol. At least that's how it's always been up until Skoda rewrote the rules.
  23. I'm with you StEdmund on this regarding the numbers concerned. Once it gets out as general knowledge then other owners will not be happy with dealers fobbing them off that there is a fix being worked on. When I complained about mine I was told that a fix might come through in a week or two !!!!. Not knowing the "issue" at the time, that was over two months ago. It was only after a month of "no updates yet" that I started to research the FAULT. What really annoys me is that this was a known fault at dealer level when I bought mine, the car engine must have been cold at some time during the PDI and yet they still sold it to an unsuspecting customer (me) knowing full well that it was FAULTY. Skoda have managed to attract buyers like myself from other makes, mainly VWAG in my case, and like many others, I think the Karoq is great but for this FAULT and because of this, I will not ever buy another Skoda again.
  24. How is the rejection going ? I wish you well, if mine was on finance I would be trying the same course. Having paid in full for mine, leaving it at the dealers whilst the arguments go on would be a major concern. Holding money back from the finance company is at least a bit of a lever.
  25. I'm also a big fan of Autoglym's products after watching someone on a caravan site use the Aqua wax on a black Jaguar in hot brilliant sunshine. I thought he was mad but the results spoke for themselves. No swirling / smearing and a brilliant shine. He'd used it regularly and so needed very little effort to wash the car first. I've bought both the Aqua wax and the shampoo conditioner in trade (5 litre) containers when visiting shows (Motorhome / Classic Cars etc.). It works out a lot cheaper.
