  1. Update: Fixed 🙂 Eventually managed to see that a holding pin had worked it's way loose and come out of the retaining hole. Long nose pliers did the trick to re-insert the pin and all's good again.
  2. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to get the lid of the upper glove box to close tightly again. I've not been able to find anything on line other than the complete removal of the entire glove box. I opened it up ealier today and the fitting hinge type thingamajig on the left side has become unseated. It hasn't come completely out of the housing slot but is loose which won't allow the glove box lid to completely close. Previously it would snap shut and be a tight fit. Any help much appreciated.
  3. Thanks Warrior and sepulchrave for your replies. I'm fairly sure the readings used are degrees of arc. Regarding the printout, one of the front tyres measurements is indicated in green (no doubt within the allowed specification), the other in red. Unfortunately I don't have the sheet with me at the moment so can't say which is which but i'll check later. Your explanations are much appreciated, so thanks once again.
  4. Hi everyone. Please accept my apologies if you've already read the following query on the Tyres & Wheels forum, however it's been suggested, due to lack of response, that I ask on this forum...... .....Having recently had wheel alignment carried out on my car, the print out given afterwards indicates the following measurements: The camber readings for the Left Front tyre is 0.09 and for the Right Front tyre - 0.33. I don't have any understanding of this matter and wonder if anyone can tell me what effect/type of wear these measurements might have on the front tyres? Thanks for any help.
  5. Hi, Many thanks for your suggestion. Much appreciated and i'll give it a go.

  7. At the time that I purchased my Maxxis AP2s they were available from quite a few places. I ended up buying them from a tyre supplier who also sold through an onsite auction site. They were based somewhere in Wales and their price, including delivery, was extremely competative.
  8. I kicked this post off back in November 2019 when I decided to fit All Season tyres on my car. 4 years on and it was time to replace my tyres again. The Maxxis AP2s that I opted for previously had served me well. Actually Far better than I anticipated. No matter the season, heatwave or cold snap, or the weather conditions, I found they always gave me confidence. The tyres provided excellent grip, (including the odd times on my steep snow covered road and drive which neighbours struggled or failed to negotiate), braked effectively. They also gave a comfortable ride, and were quiet too. I couldn't have wanted much more. So, what tyres to buy this time around, as unfortunately, the Maxxis AP2 appears to have been superseded. A pity as I'm fairly sure that I would have opted for another set of AP2s in a flash. As was the case 4 years ago, I made my decision after reading reviews & test results, as well as considering my location (the Midlands, UK), my driving style (Mr Average), my car (see below) and annual mileage (very low). I still own my humble but trusty and much appreciated 13 year old Fabia 2 HTP estate. But no matter what the car, I still like to have a set of decent tyres that give me confidence when driving in any weather but without paying a fortune. My choice of tyre in the end was the Hankook Kinergy 4S 2. I had a set fitted last month and It will be interesting to see what I think of them compared to the Maxxis AP2s. Since having the tyres fitted the weather has been unseasonably mild so I'll report back next month when we may have had cooler temperatures and maybe even some snow! In the meantime..... Merry Christmas everyone.
  9. Brilliant Phil-E......Lol Must admit I felt a bit smug whilst driving on the white slippy stuff yesterday, and as you say, why wouldn't I always want to use all seasons in the future. I have in the past tried to convince some friends to go the all season route and failed. One particular couple, who at the time were just about to replace all 4 tyres on the husbands car, explained to me it just wasn't worth it for the amount of snow we get, and anyway, they had doubts about all seasons being that much different to any other tyre. So It amused me greatly when I spoke with the husband yesterday and he was complaining that he wasn't able to get either his wifes car, or his, off their sloping drive due to the snow/ice causing wheel spin. I felt really smug as I was telling him how pleased I was to have all seasons fitted, and that despite the conditions I had easily been able to get in and out of my grove, and down and back up the inclined road with no effort at all. I got the feeling they may now look to get a set of all seasons fitted at next tyre change, at least for one of their cars.
  10. Hello everyone This is just a quick update on my decision to fit a set of All Season tyres to my car at the back end of 2019. It's now been over a year since I had the tyres fitted onto my Fabia, and having driven through the different seasons, I can say that I am a convert to an All Season type of tyre. I live in a cul-de-sac with a fair incline leading into it. Unfortunately it doesn't get gritted, and the recent winter weather has been a good test for the tyres capability on the snow. Needing to visit the pharmacy yesterday morning, I completed the journey with confidence, and on my return home I was able to drive up the snow covered and icy inclined road, back into the cul-de-sac and onto the drive without any bother or wheel spinning. A short while later I saw my neighbour, and then a delivery van, driving into the grove, struggling for grip, with their wheels spinning. There's a good choice of all season tyres available from a number of manufacturers, some more well known than others, so anyone wanting to fit a set obviously needs to do their own research as to which brand of tyre they should consider choosing and what sort of budget they wish to spend. I found it useful searching out and reading as many reviews and tests as I could. For myself, I took into account my type of driving, the car that I own, the mileage that I cover, and my location, and I opted for the Maxxis AP2. I am pleased with my choice and feel it was money well spent. Safe driving everyone.
  11. This is a very old post but........ .......I have recently noticed the same thing. The red alarm light on the drivers door of my 59 plate Fabia is definately flashing faster than it usually does (about every 3 seconds as opposed to about every 6). Does anyone have any idea why the frequency of flashes has increased? Thanks.
  12. Hi Thanks for your reply/comments.... Yes I'm a bit paranoid about keeping an eye on my tyre pressures so do check the pressures regularly and adjust as required. I haven't inspected all that closely for any cracking, just a quick glance at the outer tyre walls whilst using the pressure gauge and a quick look at the treads to see how they are wearing. When I was choosing which brand of All Season tyres to purchase I liked the fact that the Maxxis offer a Lifetime Guarantee on their tyres. Regards.
  13. Hi Everyone Back in November last year I had the set of Maxxis AP2 All Seasons tyres fitted to my Fabia. Although I've not had the chance to drive in any snow due to the mild winter we have had in my area, I have none the less been very happy with the tyres during the winter/colder months, be it travelling in wet or dry conditions and on various types of road, from lanes to motorways. Now with the recent period of warmer temperatures (low-mid 20 degree centigrade) I just wanted to say that I am still very pleased with my decision to fit these particular tyres, which to date are more than living up to my own expectations. Regards.
  14. Exactly so, and that's why, when I chose a new set of tyres for my Fabia 1.2 HTP Combi a few weeks ago, I opted for Maxxis AP2 All Seasons. I think they are an excellent tyre, good value for money, and I believe that they will more than meet my needs considering my car, my style of driving, my annual mileage and my geographical location. So far I've been really impressed and pleased with my choice.
  15. Yes I know the feeling. I became punch drunk trying to decide which brand to go for. After reading as many reviews and tests as I could find, I opted for the Maxxis AP2 All Season. For my own needs they seemed to offer what I was looking for, and at a decent price.
  16. If you don't want to be faffing about each season then All Seasons are what you should be considering. The All Seasons I recently had fitted (195/55/R15) have definitely improved the ride of my Fabia.
  17. That must be frustrating for you. My tyre size is 195/55/R15 so I had quite a number of brands from which to choose. Good luck with your tyres.
  18. Just out of interest, when they arrived last week, the labels that were attached to the tyres that I purchased, which are Maxxis AP2 All Season tyres and size 195/55/15, showed ratings of Fuel Economy = C, Wet Grip = B, and Noise = 69db.
  19. After much head scratching over what brand to buy, I finally opted for a set of Maxxis AP2 All Season tyres. I had the tyres fitted last week, and I have to say that driving in the current low temperatures and very wet roads I am impressed. As well as the car feeling like it has much more grip, it also appears to have a smoother and quieter ride. Early days yet, but I do feel they are good value for money and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the snow, if and when it arrives.
  20. I had the set of All Seasons fitted last week at Protyre in Alcester. Cost to fit was £60 and I was happy with the service that I received.
  21. Hi, I've just ordered a set of All Season tyres. Hopefully they will arrive within the next few days and I will then need to get them fitted. I have already looked on line and phoned a few tyre fitting outfits and the prices range from £7 per tyre up to £20 per tyre. Known for being tight fisted, obviously the £7 appeals to me, but not at the risk of having the tyres or wheels damaged. Any recommendations for tyre fitters within the Redditch/Stratford area would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  22. Hi and Welcome to the forum I've had my 2009 Fabia Estate for 11 months now and have been over the moon with it. I did originally purchase it with the thought that I may keep it for just a couple of months as a stopgap. However, like you, I was pretty impressed when I first got the car and that hasn't changed. In fact it's turned out to be a great little motor that I really enjoy owning and driving and I won't be looking to change it any time soon. Fingers crossed you'll be able to sort out those jobs on your car that need attention and then hopefully enjoy owning it as much as I do mine.
  23. Thanks AGFalco.......I was unaware of that 👍
  24. In fairness, and following on from my earlier post, this afternoon I have received a reply to my query from Maxxis. Seems that it may be best to check on the manufacturers own website for information on any tyre you are interested in. Thanks.
  25. Thanks for that BigJase88. 👍 I have in fact just had a reply from a retailer that I messaged earlier who tells me that it is their supplier who has the tyre listed for fuel efficiency as a C rating and that they believe this to be an error. To my mind these labels need to be correct otherwise what's the point. Another thing that frustrates me is that when it comes to ordering a set of tyres, it seems to be a case of putting a finger in the air and guessing when they were manufactured. Apparently it seems they can be anything from 1 month to 3 years old! Thanks.
